Peter was angry during the Reunion press conferences.
I gave examples above.
and they’re simply untrue--- you’re a helluva guy‚ but untrue.... peter never said any of those things at the u.s. intrepid press conference---
Read it again. I didn't say he said all of them at the Intrepid.

Most of Gene's facial expressions during Reunion era did not remind me of 70's Gene Simmons. Peter seemed for most part right in the pocket as 70's Pete only happier. Paul looked more serious in photo shoots less serious onstage when compared to 70's Paul. Ace was hit and miss in the makeup sometimes looking extremely un-Ace like in photo shoots his face easy to resist staring at when compared to 70's androgynous face Space Ace.

I think they looked good. This was what fans had wanted for a long time, we got it. Was a great ride while it lasted.
This.
They looked great and the emotions during 96/97 will never be matched. It was awesome.
My thoughts exactly!

You’re in the minority there pal

... so, not only you failed to disprove my point, but also succeeded in coming up with a picture where even Paul looks terrible, Gene looks thrice as large and Peter had his upper limbs removed and replaced with those of a seventy-year-old.

Cheerio, mate; jolly good show, indeed.

Ever seen that movie starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Jack Black ?

You be Jack, boyo.

Again...it’s your uniquely insane perspective...however - you’re in the extreme minority on this particular subject all the same.

Regardless of your Michael Jackson pedo references/utterances.

I never thought we'd reach an era where we would shit on 96/97. Magical times it was. I would love to go back to give myself more great memories.

“We” are not shitting on 96

only a select few criticize it

most of us see it for what it was; an incredible, long-overdue, successful run that really deliver the goods and then some...... to the entire world

Starting off Reunion wearing those costumes was genius.
Except for Paul, they looked ridiculous with those costumes, especially Gene.

Destroyer costumes would have been a better idea.

That is hard to believe when you put it that way

But that’s exactly right it’s been 24 years since the reunion

They kinda went for it in 1998; not much of an improvement, though...

All in all, this kind of stuff should've stayed where it belonged: the 1970's.

Aside from Paul, they either looked too old or too bloated, if not both.

Not even Paul was in good enough shape to be the Starchild anymore...

I didn’t think there was a problem with how they looked then. The makeup head scratcher for me during that era was Gene at the Grammys (7 points instead of 8 ) and Peter (whiskers in the wrong place) at the MTV Movie Awards. It’s like they forgot how to do it!

Gene’s wasn’t wrong it just didn’t match the era of the costume. His Grammy makeup is the 1975/76 design

It certainly does boggle. Another one for me is the that its been 36 years since I first saw them live and if you go back that same amount of time nobody in the band in 1984 was even alive in 1948.

You think he did it that way to match 1975? Hmmm I don’t think think that was the case. They were going for 1977 so I just assumed he would replicate that era makeup. Perhaps he used an image from ‘75 for reference when he applied it that first time. It’s the only time I recall seeing it with 7 points since that one off moment.

In their first photo session:

Ace looked weird because he had not yet fully healed from his face lol lift. Around his eyes looked odd and he had too much of his forehead showing.

I thought Gene looked like a cosplayer (face, hair and costume and it’s fit) when I saw the original black and white 8x10 photo as I waited on line to get inside the Intrepid.
If I did not know it was the real Gene I would not have believed it.

Peter’s face and body had noticeably aged. He was thinner and his face was slightly sunken in. His makeup also had variations.

Paul looked great from the start. I remember a couple in concert photos during the tour that you would have sworn he was from 1975.

I think they ALL started to look better as the tour began to roll along.

Agreed. It was fun, but watching the footage now shows a band who just didn't seem to be firing on all cylinders musically, especially compared with the HITS and Revenge tours. It also marked the end of Kiss as a creative musical force - with this, you really could say that G&P (and A&P) were just in it for the money.

That said, a lot of people love this era, but I's suggest it's for nostalgia reasons only - I don't think Kiss live have ever sounded weaker than the reunited lineup. Maybe the 03 tour. Maybe.

It was obvious even at the time thats what it was, but the fun of having a reunited Kiss in full classic attire was too good to resist.

It was all pure nostalgia, and has been ever since then. Saw KISS 15 times from 1996 - 2000, good times!

Nailed it.

"It was a great time, because it reminded us of that great time 20 years ago," may have indeed brought us all joy, but it literally contributed ZERO to the legacy of the band.

I remember seeing some of the Kiss tribute bands back then in small clubs, and some of them put on a better show than Kiss in 96.
