Q for those who are not attending EOTR

Post by TheSpoiler » Sun Jul 14, 2019 4:09 am

If the overall circumstances were the same as now - i.e. exact same setlist, exact same stage show, exact same costumes, Paul using tapes, same arenas - but we had Ace & Peter on the stage instead of Tommy & Eric - would you attend?

TBH, that would make me part with my cash. One last go round.

Wouldn't change a thing for me.

I prefer to remember them from the time when Kiss was an actual rock band.

I don't really go to concerts. I saw KISS in 1979. I've never seen Iron Maiden. I'd spend the money on Maiden.

Yes. A special tour rather than just another run of the mill current lineup show would have enticed me to attend. Personally, I do see this as just another current lineup tour and do not believe this to actually be the end of KISS at all. So there is nothing being offered here outside of the norm (which I've already attended plenty of times) that made me feel like it was worth going to.

I don’t know. Maybe. Maybe not. For a long long time now, Kiss isn’t really a band anymore. It doesn’t feel right. Kiss to me is as much rock and roll as McDonald‘s or Disney. Also, since around the time of Psycho Circus I find them pretty boring as a live band, to be honest.

If they came to our local arena, which is about a 5 min drive from my doorstep, then probably. Otherwise, not putting in the effort anymore.

I decided not to go for a very different reason. 2 years ago I took my step daughter to see them at Niagara Falla. We held hands during the last note. It was my 17th Kiss concert starting from MSG 79. I took my son to see them twice at the PNC in Jersey. He is now unable to go anywhere.

In April this year she took her own life. I want my last show to be with her.

To paraphrase a wise man, I think I'd rather stick my d*ck in a blender.

Granted, the chances of them coming to my neck of the woods are minimal, but I'm not quite sure how a geriatric drummer and a decrepit lead guitar played would improve things.

If anything, I'd expect the total opposite.

For those not attending EOTR, it's a shame.

Is it the original 4? Of course not. But is it a GREAT show and fun to see Gene and Paul playing packed arenas? Absolutely.

Sometimes I feel the fans who trash and attack Gene and Paul are the same people who would be upset with their ex-wife because she married a richer, better looking guy and is having a great and better life without you.

I’m not going for the same reason I haven’t been to a KISS show in more than a decade, Paul’s voice or lack thereof.

Also, the makeup/nostalgia farce they’ve been peddling for nigh on a quarter century is nothing to me. For God’s sake leave the 70s in the past where they belong.

Fuck no. Paul fakes sing, Gene barely moves, something is up with Ace and Peter wouldn't do it anyway. He's smart. They were done after the first reunion tour ended. This version of Kiss sucks. All the pyro and show crap doesn't help IMHO.

My wife, daughter and I will be attending yet another show together. Its been that way since 1997. I don't get a minutes peace. I wouldn't want it any other way.

As long as Tommy is not there I'd consider it for sure. You see Tommy for me has ruined this band for me, I have never heard a more amateur 12-year-old level guitar play in a professional band in my life. Sorry, but in my opinion Ace even with his problems is ten times musically better of a guitarist than Tommy Thayer could ever hope to be.

No. I've seen every tour from Creatures Jan 22, '83 till EOTR except for LIU. In the past, the ticket prices were reasonable and my interest in the band was very high. Today that gap has narrowed.

Before this tour started, Paul said in a FB vid Q&A, "If you come see us, great! If you don't, great!" Whatever the context, I didn't like the comment. Just rubbed me the wrong way.

Honestly not sure. Peter and ace’s absence is one of several reasons I have zero interest in seeing kiss live these days. Others include

Paul’s lip syncing/horrific voice
Paul is, by all accounts, an insufferable asshole
The band is very boring on stage
Gene and Paul are both very very annoying
They don’t feel like a band anymore. More like a Vegas review
Stale setlist
Too much show to distract from poor musicianship
Ticket prices
Touring over saturation

So really, ace and peters presence (or lack thereof) is just one of many things. I really haven’t liked anything this band has done since 2016, and having 1) a retired 72 year old drummer and 2) a sloppy deaf lead guitarist come back into the fold probably would only make things worse.

You know I would love to have Peter there but it’s not a must. I would quickly part with my cash if Ace were part of the tour. I do believe both sides may have initially been planning for him to be part of it. Now not so much.
I do respect Tommy’s contributions to the band however, he’s just so damn bland and boring that I have zero interest.
So yes.

No. The only thing that could entice me to attend a show would be to have another artist/band on the bill that would be performing live. In another thread, I wrote tha I wished they had gotten Bruce to open with his own band playing the best of 80s KISS. It would have been a great way to include a former member and honor an often overlooked era of the band's history.

Same everything?! Gee thats tough... Through extremely gritted teeth I might be tempted... Though I'd probably say no.. cant support lip syncing in any way..
It would be funny to see Peter pretend to play the piano like Eric does though.

Being that the original group was MY lineup, it goes without saying I'd be there.
Musical perfection, or even musical competency, would take a back seat to seeing the OG KISS on stage one more time. Hell, Hendrix and his ragtag band played loose, crappy, and spontaneous at Woodstock, but the EVENT was more important than whether they got every musical note correct.

Negatory.

Ace and Peter aren't the issue for me. It's Paul.

Had Paul not been lip syncing or had there been a kick ass opening act, I probably would have gone.
