Blue Oyster Cult was never a cult.

THIS, and the Thompson Twins were not twins, nor was anyone named Thompson
Wait......what? Thompson Twins have been playing us all along? Bastards! I’m throwing my Hold Me Now VHS recording in the garbage.

I don't know how many Manson fans are on here, but to those who are unfamiliar with his stuff, he doesn't have all these songs about the devil. He rails on society's ills, be it organized religion, politics, gun violence, etc. Even the trilogy of albums (Antichrist Superstar/Mechanical Animals/Holywood) are not about the biblical Antichrist. It's a shame he painted himself into a corner with his devilish image/persona because he is an extremely intelligent person that has a lot more to say than "Devil this" or "Devil that".
Still, people always find a way to justify not listening to something they don't want to hear. George Carlin could make all the great points about society he wanted, but his detractors were fine saying that they didn't have to hear him out because he used dirty words. If he didn't use dirty words those same people would find another reason to treat him like a raving lunatic and discard any points he makes. It's just a standard tactic people use to protect themselves from dissenting opinions and/or facts.

King Diamond's singing voice is a far greater sin than anything he may or may not believe, practice, or worship.

Can’t speak for his music, but I saw him guest on the “Talking Dead” show years ago and he was anything but “extremely intelligent.” He appeared to be out of it and provided little valuable insight. Fan consensus seems to be that he was the worst guest ever on the show.

Very cool :)
I doubt Peter likes Rob or Marilyn's music so he must went to this shows either as a direct invite of for the friendship with some of those guys
That’s actually something I’ve been curious about for a long time. I’m assuming that peters Christian beliefs prevent him from really liking or supporting most of rob and Marilyn’s work, so it’s interesting to see a friendship between them in spite of that.
Rob is nothing more than a horror movie fan
Manson I believe does it for shock value
Neither of these guys are King Diamond

Manson and King Diamond are nothing like Kiss and those guys take their shit for real. Sorry but wicked and evil are real and they can kiss my ass.
Manson and Diamond....or wicked and evil?
Which one?
Or which two rather?
Or is it all four?

Oh me?

I can't stand the sound of anything Bob Z or that boring glam metal doofus M.M. ever do or say....
Never could.
Even as I stood outside smoking bowl after bowl waiting for them (W.Z.) to get the F off the stage
and go back to their trust fund condo's on the West Side....so many bills they wound up on that I had
to literally leave and wait them out a half dozen times.
Both are unbearably corny and one dimensional and unimaginative that nothing they do will ever make me pay more then the two seconds attention it requires to reject them.

Since you are officially taking the Church Lady position on these cornball fakes I assume you are an obvious
troll being obvious.

I still tip my hat to you.

Truly it's wise to reject anything those two (RZ/MM) do outright and (satan) leave it in the trash....I applaud
that move. But(satan) to reject them for being fake satanists? That's like going "Wow...I sure wish(satan)I could

Then again, this was an incident where he didn't like the drugs, but the drugs liked him.
He's done plenty of interviews, Bill O'Reilly as an example, where he's not wasted and his intelligence shines. Read his book, also. The guy's pretty smart.
Point being, I've seen and read more interviews and stories that showcase his intelligence than showcase his moments of being a total wasteoid.

Amazing how something as lovely as a simple shot of Peter invited to share time with two long term friends, Rob and John, of whom it was Johns birthday can be taken and turned and projected upon some individuals agenda seeing religious issue where there is none and issueing their own insecurities.

Imagine this was just image orientated show biz eh?

Rob Zombie’s film, Three from Hell, will be released in September. His films are quite entertaining, in my opinion.

I think insecurities lie on both sides of this argument, but I will agree that this was a special moment and occasion for Peter, Rob, and John. I met John 5 last fall at the RnR Fantasy Camp and he’s a true gentleman and brilliant musician.

AS a genre aficionado, and a decent man, I am VERY fond of Rob Zombie. Hes a great guy. Not so hot on his movies or a lot of his albums, but hes doing his own thing, I dig it. The shows are great. I will check out 3 from Hell. though. Its VERY grindhouse. (Bit like Kevin Smith, Like the guy, his body of work is ....selective.
John 5 is just a stellar talent and I adore him as a person and a player. I actually prefer his bluegrass and picking style to his metal chops TBH. Hes phenominal.

That photo is 3 friends hanging out and sharing the love with Peter.

Following J5 on Instagram is recommended. Recently, he was up late playing guitar with his mask and SpongeBob pajamas. I think it was Tommy Lee who messaged, “Sexy!”.

For Peter to give John 5 his own personal gold album makes it a point that they are very close, and both of them respect the hell out of each other AND are friends. Kudos to Peter for giving his friend a very personal gift

Totally and possibly a sign that he knows it means more to John than to Peter. and Peter is happy to let go of his past.
Hes really turned into quite a chilled gentleman in retirement. and he looks great. It suits him. Kudos.

King Diamond's singing voice is a far greater sin than anything he may or may not believe, practice, or worship.
Blasphemy.

Go listen to Night of the Stormrider or Burnt Offerings non-stop 'til the end of the week, now.
LMAO! I listened to Night of the Stormrider just this morning! "The Serpent Rides With Me!!!"
You, Sir, are...

Tell Peter Charlie Harper called and he wants his shirt back!
Oh god, that brings back an awkward memory.
Several years ago, my son bought me one of those style shirts, and between the shirt and the short black hair I had at the time, at work I kept getting the comment of "WINNING!" all freakin day.
Good times, weird times.

Exactly. Rob and Marilyn are long-time fans of horror movie imagery and shock rock.
Scary imagery, hard rock, and damn good entertainment. As simple as that.
(For the record, I don't believe for ONE SECOND that "Satan" exists, hence, it didn't take me long to get to the point where I simply yawn when I hear any words referencing something "satanic" in music. It's theatrical rock fun.)

That's like saying Peter's Christian beliefs prevented him from being a member of Kiss. Rob and Marilyn aren't satanists. If they are, in fact, card-carrying members of the Church of Satan, it's only because they recognized how much money they could make for themselves for "officially" wearing that badge. They're putting some spooky and scary stuff out there to sell records. Like Kiss.
And why would it prevent Peter from liking or supporting them? Are Christians only supposed to listen to Christian music now? What a ridiculously uninformed and off-base comment
lol it’s not ridiculous. I mean, when part of your convictions is to, I don’t know, radically oppose things like satanism, it would be commonsensical that you may not enjoy, or indeed, be opposed to, artists who promote such things, regardless of how shallow those gimmicks may be. Take it from me—I’m from the “Bible Belt” of america; lived there for 21 years. I know how influential Christian faith can be (especially those who may be more fundamentalist, which I doubt Pete is). I’ve met many, many a folk who are opposed to the likes of RZ. Manson, and yes even kiss, because of their religious beliefs. Not a silly assumption. And certainly not an uninformed one. A very real one. Not saying all are like that of course. Thankfully many aren’t.
I've lived in the "Bible Belt" for my entire 52 years of life, but I agree with Zach's take.
The "Bible Belt" has PLENTY of fun, sin, sex, rock'n'roll culture and concerts, marijuana(our 3rd biggest cash crop), prostitution, and MULTITUDES of beautiful, sluttily-clad women. And that's just the LOCALS.
Oh, and there's a Christian church on what seems like every corner.
It's 2019. That "Bible Belt" stereotype is beyond outdated and inaccurate.

I'd rather listen to this stuff instead of songs about flowers or lollipops
Didn't the drummer from Venom in an interview come out and say it was all for the shock value? How many times were KISS put into that category especially in the deep south or bible belt?
I've been to a shitload of concerts in the "Bible Belt," and KISS still draws large crowds here.
Other concerts I've seen here in the so-called "Bible Belt": MARILYN MANSON, Danzig, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Styx("river in hell"), Iron Maiden, I could go on and on and on.........
The number of religious protestors I've seen at concerts in my 52 years living in South Carolina?
Here's the GRAND TOTAL: 1 protestor at an Ozzy concert, 3 protestors at a Marilyn Manson concert(ZERO the 2nd time I saw him), and 1 geriatric moron protesting at a Police concert. FIVE protesters. And let me ASSURE you: At concerts I look for these protests and seek them out, because I LOVE yelling to them "SATAN DOES NOT EXIST!"
And oh by the way, ALL of those bands have come back here multiple times.
Hell, my first concert was KISS with Judas Priest in Columbia SC in 1979. Protestors at that one? ZERO.
In 1995 in SC, I saw Danzig with Marilyn Manson opening. Protestors at that one? ZERO.
The concerts in my post here are just an off-the-top-of-my-head sample.
If I went back over my entire concert life in the "Bible Belt," the big picture is that the "Satanic Panic in Rock" phenomenon here is WAY more the exception than the rule. NOT EVEN FUCKING CLOSE.
Oh wait, one special memory that stands out is seeing Marilyn Manson at the House of Blues here in Myrtle Beach, and Manson hit the stage a mere six hours after the House Blues finished hosting their "Sunday Gospel Brunch" which they have almost every damn Sunday. SAME FUCKING VENUE, SAME DAY.
But what the fuck do I know? I'm just a lifelong(52 years) hayseed resident of South Carolina, and a VERY avid fan of "scary rock music," with a college education and a white-collar job.
It's 2019, for Kryste's sake.

Manson and King Diamond are nothing like Kiss and those guys take their shit for real. Sorry but wicked and evil are real and they can kiss my ass.
King Diamond told a story about his neighbor who's a man of the cloth, I forget which denomination he said, but King was leaving the house one day, and the guy asks him...when are you getting Mercyful Fate back together?

If you really think King Diamond takes his shit for real, you're a very silly person.

Unless you think that King Diamond is a mercenary created by the legions of hell.....

Or participates in human sacrifice...

Or is haunted by the ghost of the Bell Witch...

I mean really.

And Diamond, like Manson, are members of the Church of Satan which doesn't believe in a factual Satan or god.
That's an important point regarding LaVeyan Satanism. They are atheists, and they view Satan as being fiction and "a symbol of man's carnal nature."
With that being said, I still contend that Anton LaVey was a charlatan, a carnival barker, and a con man.
His "Satanic Bible" is psychobabble bullshit, and, like a lot of rock bands, he used dark scary imagery to make money.
(He didn't even seek tax-exempt status for his "church;" he shamelessly admitted he made a living off of it, and that he saw nothing wrong with that.)

The Rolling Stones titled their 1967 album "Their Satanic Majesties Request." They aren't satanists. An artist referencing Satan in a title or theme doesn't imply they are satanists.

I used a variation of the word "satan" four times in the above statement and I'm not a satanist either.
To expand on this a bit...

Cliff Richard sings about a Devil Woman.
Mick Jagger sings Sympathy for the Devil in first person.
Van Halen, oh God, Oh God they're Running with the Devil.
Heart. Pure innocent little Heart, has a song called Devil Delight.

Guess they're all satanists because they use Ole Scratch's name...
Seriously...

Is it 1984?

Are we in the Satanic Panic again?!
Dude don't bring us irrelevant songs or band. It's obvious what Zombie is doing and part of.

Does spiritual ware fair ever stop? Does good and evil's battle for your soul ever stop?

What does 1984 have to do with it?

You have good and evil and it's that simple.
In 1984, that's when we had the Satanic Panic.

Duh.

Good versus Evil...oh lordy butts.
