It's such a strange way for a big band to release music. Vocals from 20 years ago with new solos and maybe bass but probably old drums...

It's a pretty good track but what does that say about the state of this band? Nothing good.

I haven’t listened yet. I thought Absurd was absurdly turdy.

I’ll check this one out soon.

It's fine but it sounds like a throwaway from Appetite.

It’s ok. Mix is horrible.

Vocals are buried. No low end. Guitar too prominent in the mix.

Drums are probably new. I doubt they would want to pay Steven Adler anything.

I think the original drums would have been Brain but I'm not sure.

I like it. Seen GnR in Hershey and Dallas. Axl struggles on the high pitched vocals but otherwise IMO sounds good. If GnR could write songs to fit his aging voice that would be great. I enjoyed the shows I attended and the venues were packed so the interest is still there. The deeper lower pitched vocals suit Axl at this point of the game. Hardskool sounds GnR with a punk tinged to it.

I would love this if I was still 19...I'm 52 ...meh..their music and image circa 1987 was tied into my youth as an 18 year old..and those were great times...they're locked into an era...for me. But I hope others enjoy this.

It seems to be impossible to make a song with a great chorus these days.
If that's the best they have to offer, their possible next album isn't worth waiting for.

I read they plan to release this, A turd, and two old live tracks as an EP. Sounds exciting or what?

Garbage. Another old shit Chinese Democracy reject song.

Why are they digging up these old turds? Slash & Duff can write good stuff, why are they releasing this crap?

Song was being worked on in 1996, a few months before Slash left. It certainly was demoed with the CD lineup, but was being worked on with Slash and Duff. Not any different than what VH did on their last album. It's a great tune!

It's very different from what VH did because those were 100% new recordings. You know the vocal on this is very old.

Several of the best songs actually were, but even the ones that weren't were new performances. They didn't try to pass of 20 yr old tracks as new.

It might seem nitpicky but I think it's a crucial difference. There's nothing wrong with using material that's not brand new, but using old tracks and not owning up to it is deceitful. In my opinion.

Gn'R has done no press on either of these songs, so they are not passing these off as brand new songs. Because the others were just demos, they actually are new released songs, but no one in the band has said these are newly written songs. Every website talking about them have said that they are newly recorded songs from demos done years ago. I do think it's a damm good song, and don't understand how anyone who's liked Gn'R just a little bit throughout the years can say that it sucks. As a big Axl guy, I also like Absurd, even though the original demo is better, but I completely understand how others can dislike that one.

Didn't I just say I don't have a problem with bands using old material? The problem is Axl's vocals were recorded 20 years ago. That all the websites don't know this just proves my point. And yeah, I know they haven't done any interviews or ''actually said'' it's all new. That's called lying by omission.

How could it possibly be lying if nothing has been said about the band about either song?!

If this song was originally written and demoed in '96 then ok I can deal with it, even though it's not great.

Absurd can fuck right off though. Possibly the worst thing GNR has ever released, and that includes the abysmal My World.

I see the music I like disappearing with aging rock bands getting old and nobody coming up to keep it going. Example like an AC/DC style band or Led Zeppelin. When all the bands are gone I guess I will keep listening with some iced down beer sitting on the tailgate of my pickup under an oak tree in rural Texas. I’m getting older too so that is just the way it goes.

I blasted up I 35 from S Texas to N Texas DFW to see GnR a second time on this tour run. No regrets met GnR fans many from Oklahoma and that was cool. Mammoth Van Halen was great and during the break had a random stranger buy me a brew just because I BS with him about GnR a random act of kindness that I’m not use to in today’s world. Inspired me to buy a random person a brew when Korn was in Austin. Not a poor person who couldn’t afford a beer just a FRIKIN act of kindness. Believe me it will come back as good Karma and believe it Karma is real.
