Paul looked terrible in this era. His little tummy pooching up and over the waist of his costume looked absolutley horrible. Gene looked about six feet wide too.

Thats right people a new album with the original members and we guarantee the 3D will work on all the shows , can't wait to see sell out shows everywhere.

Land of hype and of course the machine was running fans were buying the merch but this tour tanked for the most part in the US.

What a shame! Gene and Paul should have had Ace and Peter actually be a part of the album. Why they didnt include them in the studio, I will never understand. It could have been a great album, but they mucked it up

It was for me too. This was the first time ever as a fan I was turned off from Kiss.
I bought the album and watched the TV specials but I just started losing interest. It doesn’t help that the album wasn’t very good either.

Because according to them, it wouldve taken 2 years to complete the album.

By and large the album, tour, and period were a bust. Went by in the blink of an eye. Other than the title track I wish to forget it.

Best part of this video? When some guy asks about "Into the Face" when actually meaning In Your Face - the bonus track.

Saw them at Wembley Arena for their only UK show in 1999, it was awful, one of the worst KISS shows I ever went to, lethargic is the best way to describe it, that spark from the Reunion tour had all but gone out.

The "sham" era. Peter seems extra surly here, probably because his big moment on the album was "I Finally Found My Way." The guys seem like they're on different planets. I can just picture the boatloads of disposable Chinese-made KISS crap about to hit US shores. The lean, mean, and hungry band of the '70s was replaced by fat and complacement rock & roll caricatures with carnival barker $immons at the helm. A truly embarrassing time for the band.

Yep the machine was rolling and Gene and Paul knew it , but I think they really thought the album and tour were going to be a hugh success based on the reunion tour , and when that didn't happen , they was like ok and had the movie already lined up plus other things.
And some lost cities dates got pulled so they had the next plan for the album in their heads

I think it was a good album... The sound was wrong. The sound was more Bon Jovi than KISS. Ezrin should have produced the album. "You wanted the best" sucks and "Within" doesnt fit at all.. With a different sound, and Ace playing, and the two songs I mentioned excluded it could have been a real good album.. The thing I miss with PC is songs in the vein of Hotter than hell, Makin love, I want you and MDD with classic Kiss guitar riffs. Into the void has a classic Kiss riff but the chorus is to weak. NO way Peter was able to play some of the the songs.. The tour sucked.. Mainly because of Peter.. Ace stepped up a lot in 2001 when Eric Singer was drumming... Ace should have stayed.. That line up with Eric and Ace was good.. Tommy didn't brought anything to KISS.. I lost interest when he came along. I have not seen them since 1999.. Gonna see them in 2022 but only because I wanna see them a last time. Kiss was a big part of my life..

Chinese Theater in Hollywood. People slept out on the street overnight over 24 hours the day before for a chance to gain access. Maybe you're thinking of something else.

Totally. After a year and a half of them saying in every interview they had learnt from their past and wouldn’t repeat their old mistakes. You could see the wheels coming off with every daily update on KISS Asylum about the latest lame merchandise.

I said two songs.. Not ten songs. I said Ace. . I dont know why you are using plural form when it comes to Ace

It would not have taken rocket research to make that album sound more like classic KISS..

I saw them in Nashville on that tour. I remember it being a pretty good show but attendance wasn't strong (the 3D thing never seemed to quite work as billed). Once the excitement of the Reunion Tour was over that was that. EVERYONE came out to see that ... after, the non-fans had a "been there, done that" attitude.
As for the album, G&P tried to recreate the feel of Destroyer. In fact, when I met Paul at a meet & greet prior to its release, he even told the guy in front of me that PC was going to sound more like Destroyer, after the guy asked if it'd be a Revenge/Carnival of Souls type release. And without Ezrin, capturing the Destroyer vibe was impossible -- not only are the songs on PC not up to snuff, the overall ambiance could not be recaptured. Many songs needed his magic touch (if not rewritten completely). And at that point, I think G&P were more happy with a yes-man producer than a guy like Ezrin, who would create alongside them. I mean Elder aside, he GOT who KISS was.
I listened to the hell out of PC at first. Unfortunately, it hasn't aged well for me and I only hear the title track occasionally when they bust it out live.
Anyway, what do I know ... I'm just a fan sitting in front of a laptop!

Psycho Circus sounded like a Bon Jovi album from the late 80's. It was a total disaster, that sounded even less like 70's KISS then their 80's albums.
The lyrics about the fans, and being all for one, one for all were a total cringe fest. Into The Void sounded most like KISS but was a lousy song.
You Wanted The Best was a mess, but at least had a cracking Ace solo. Title song is alright, but no more than that.
We Are One and I Finally Found My Way are embarrassments.

It was at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. NO problem getting fans to show up. I waited probably 8-10 hrs. in a long line. Fans were still exited at this point for the 'reunion' album. After it was over everyone headed to Tower Records Sunset to get the album at Midnight.

This event took place a few days right after I relocated to West Hollywood from NYC! Great memories for me and a weird time for the band. About less than a year later, they would receive their Hollywood Walk of Fame star a few blocks from the Chinese Theater. By that point, it felt like KISS had overstayed their welcome with the general public when, just 15 months prior, they were on top of the world. This clip is so hard to watch now that we know better.

Thanks for sharing this memory, though.

The album's got some great tracks - but the stank of the the lie that the album was built under just can't wash off, for me.

At least on the albums with ghost players, it was done out of necessity AND they did it under the radar - not blowing the opportunity for a reunion record and going out of their way to use the 'all four played' as a selling point.

It was a dirty move that will forever stain this album.

They totally botched it. I blame Paul more than Gene, and I blame Bruce Fairbairn a lot, too.

The album should have been a vintage, 70's style album with just a few nods to the 80's and 90's. It should have featured Ace and Peter throughout. It should have been the album the fans wanted. Instead, it was the album that Paul and Bruce Fairbairn wanted.

If you want to completely botch your reunion album - Gene and Paul can tell you exactly what to do.

To be fair though, Gene was writing We Are One/You Wanted The Best kind of stuff. He was going for a theme instead of just writing usual Gene songs.

Funny enough, I think Bruce Fairbairn got along better with Gene and Paul resented that about the experience of working with Fairbairn.

It is unfortunate that the pairing didn't work, because I dig a few of Fairbairn's production work for other bands.
