As someone who doesn't collect vinyl though - is the sound quality better than the CD as far as you are concerned with current releases.
I mean if you buy the latest Ace Frehley album - is the vinyl going to be superior listening or is just the same sound as digital files. There is no "warmness" to the vinyl.
Thank you for your question and allow me to expoundicate.
A new LP at the absolute worst, will sound as good as any CD/Lossless/whatever. I purchase them as much for the ritual as I do the sound quality, though, I think most of them sound better.
As I've mentioned more than once, I've got a very sweet vinyl setup, largely donated to me by my late father in law, and I've added some little upgrades to it as well.
Music is meant to be heard in 2 channels.
It's always been 2 channels.
Right now, I'm listening to Dream Evil
by Dio...my podcast partner and I did Elf today, so I've been cleansing afterwards...
After being cleaned, this LP sounds minty fresh. This record is 35 years old. I mean my copy.
So, in a worst case scenario, I get as good as anybody else, and I get to listen in the special music room, yeah, I'll pay a couple of extra dollars for that. I will also pay to know I have a copy of the music that's mine until I decide otherwise.
And from my experience, you can't brickwall vinyl.
