Ace actually looks pretty cool in this vid. Which is saying something because otherwise the band looks ridiculous.

Great video. Though not my favourite Eric Carr look I thought it was the best out of The Elder era along with Ace Frehley, plus I heard Eric was not too happy about cutting his hair during this time.

Wild video! This is so of the time. Performance videos with crowds that were really into the performance were everywhere in the early 1980s. They look unbelievably cheesy nowadays.

Paul looks the most ridiculous. He's moving too fast for the song, almost like the video was produced for another track and then "I" was dubbed over top.

They really tried to make this song happen, hey? The whole thing just reeks of desperation compared to the next round of make-up videos, especially "I Love it Loud."

It was cool to learn that this existed, but it is understandable why this was shelved after watching.

I don't think this was worth the Curt Gooch drama though or the amount he wanted to sell it for. This isn't a holy grail.

'For the single 'I' from KISS's brand new ground breaking sci-fi medieval concept album '(Music From) The Elder' we propose a performance video of the band playing on a disused set from Superman to a crowd of swanky Manhattan modernaires... The band members will flirt with the audience and mug to camera throughout, in keeping with the albums themes of light versus dark, good versus evil...'

etc... :D

It is great to see finally see it. Personally, I don't see this as anything near a holy grail item. Yes, it was very rare prior to this release but the "performance" is really not very good imo. The video lacks a Kiss stage with the logo, etc as well. They could have put something better together.

It was great to finally see the video after so long, but of course take away the mystery and the hunt, and the video simply remains as something indescribably horrible. I mean, just look at it. From start to finish, it's just horrible. It's the perfect testament to just how clueless and misguided the entire "Elder" concept and project were (as fascinating as the era was in a train-wreck kind of way).

I do not believe Gurt is involved in selling, some fans got a hold of a copy and I was passed along info that there have been attempted sales.

I am not a KISSologist and do not know who plays on everything. In that video it sure as hell looks like Eric Carr playing. I have to retract my earlier statement that I still have not seen what others see in Eric Carr's drum playing. I prefer Peter Criss in his heydays. Allan Schwartzberg kicks ass.

Im a little confused; this is the same "I" video that alivecatman and a couple of others purchased a few years back, and initially watermarked a version to share? Did I miss an announcement? Its the same video version right???

Also did we establish that the band had a version of this "I" video all along, as I believed it appeared in the recent documentary??
Hence they never need to partake in the sale a few years back when the story was doing the rounds???

It's kinda silly & super dated, sure

But I think this is right there with lots of those early 80s music video promo clips, stuff like Start Me Up or Hang Fire by the Stones, whatever else

Not great as far as being a high quality film, but not exactly horrible

I'll save a term like 'horrible' for videos like X in Sex or Rock Hard which for my tastes are far worse, both musically & visually

To each their own of course but...I believe in me!

Oh yeah & thanks, Andrew!!

I suspect the Gooch licensed this for use in the doc, which if true is totally repugnant after selling the tape years ago for a nice price.

There’s something “creepy” looking about the closeups of the band members when they’re being carried by the crowd, especially Gene and Ace.

Such an odd concept for a video when they were tryin to be taken seriously...

Is this the same one doing the rounds from a couple of years or so ago? I remember the drama of threatening to burn it if nobody bought it lol.
I think the only thing that got burnt were the people who shelved out money for it lol.

Absolutely f#cking awful video. But lets face it, most of their promo videos were pretty naff. For a band as visual as Kiss they really didnt get a grip on the promo video market until the late 80s, and even then the videos were passable at best.

The five year old to whom I've just reverted disagrees in the strongest possible terms. Life was so much more fun back then, and so were KISS.
