Hope there is a new Ace album to promote, seems like a good opportunity for him.

A friend sent me an ad from Guilford NH earlier today but it didn’t list Ace as the opener!
This is fantastic to see. The wife and I caught Alice with Halestorm at this venue in 2019 and it was a blast. Hadn’t seen Alice since ‘96 when he toured with Priest and Motörhead and he looked and sounded the same. Fantastic staging and band. Nita Strauss is a great player AND easy on the eyes.....
This could be a fun night! I saw Alice at the Boston Garden in ‘87 and Ace was supposed to open that night but was a no-show so it’s great to see these two sober and still out there more than 30 years later!

Nice crowd. Also that would be the definition of papering. What’s that about an average of less than 15 bucks a ticket? But it shows what kind of money they can draw. I would bet promoters would love to pull 200k gate per show with those two, although I’m guessing this might be an outlier?

Ace in Indy, works for me.

I am not seeing a link for Ace Meet-N-Greets. I am so wanting to get my guitar signed.

They may be willing to play, but not get to close to anyone just yet.

I was at that show. Traffic was horrible and we missed most of Aces set. The crowd was great and bigger than KISS crowd at same venue a year earlier.

I’m hoping no opener, Ace at 7:30 for an hour, then Alice from 9:00 to 10:30, but probably some local band at 7pm.

I read where they are selling none of these to capacity due to COVID, so it will be real interesting what the gates are like. I’m sure the Nibbler will be it!

But the rest, 24 shows in 35 days, we all know Alice is superhuman for his age, but can Ace keep up that pace?
I bet there will be an unknown band play for 20 minutes starting at 7 p.m. Ace will play a 30 minute set max starting around 7:50 P.M. Then Alice will go on around 8:45.
I'm pretty sure Ace did an hour in Australia w/Alice on multiple dates... usually 12 songs a nite, plus two solos (Bass & Guitar); that's not 30 minutes...
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/ace-freh ... 31564.html
he also did a show w/Alice at the Greek in L.A. a few summers ago. 9 songs + solo... that might be 45 minutes.
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/ace-freh ... 31564.html
I'm just basing my opinion on his age, recent show reviews in the past several years and 24 shows in 35 days including several back to back nights. Does he have the stamina, the testicular fortitude, to perform at a high level for more than 30 minutes each night?
Ace looks like he dropped 30 pounds and opening and playing in front of a larger crowd that didnt specifically show up for him will likely light a fire under his ass.

My guess is this is a much better touring situation than recent solo tours. I saw Ace in NH a while back and he had a tour bus and trailer parked in front of a small bar in a strip mall. I'd guess the band members did the load in/load out. Far cry from the Four Seasons and someone handing you a guitar as you go onstage he had while in KISS.

What is this tour gonna draw this Fall?

I’m curious about that myself.

Is it gonna be light ‘cause of Covid? Or does everyone wanna defy the disease and it’s an adrenaline shot to the live music industry?

I’m going on record saying it averages out south of $200K per show. Although that pendulum swing could make quite a difference.

Alice’s usefulness of Ace Frehley is that of a KISS concert.

A expect it to effectively be all

70 percent Kiss songs is my guess, if you also count songs from Ace's 1978 solo album as Kiss songs.

It's mostly KISS songs regardless of who he's playing with...for better or worse, that's just how it is.

His old drummer was pretty damn good at it...but they got shit-canned for Gene's band. Not that I particularly want to hear Ace play Love Gun with his band, but Scot Coogan did a great job of it. Gene's band has someone that can do a passable job, too...but they're not quite as good. Ace's previous band was pretty damn good...and Ace put more effort in with that band. He had to for it to work. Now with two other guitars besides himself, he seems to half-ass it more, unfortunately.

Dunno that I would agree that he can't or couldn't afford him, but I do agree money talks and Ace went with the option to keep more of the pie for himself while having to do less work.

He also said Gene told him he should replace his band with Gene's. He also said he liked Gene's band's harmonies. I'm not disagreeing that they're cheaper. But cheaper doesn't mean can't afford. He could afford him/them just fine for several years. Cheaper was one of the reason he made the change...

I was at Scot's last show w/Ace (in Detroit when they shot the Rockin' With The Boys video) and Coogan was hammered... went from one extreme to the other with people backstage. Hugging... then violently pushing people (before the show, even). The only thing Ace can't afford is to be around is that sort of volatility. It was a bizarre and unexpected display. Ace saying the new band was cheaper was a) not cool but b) likely a statement of fact. Collectively how much more was the old band vs the new? Let's say it's $1k more, a nite... it adds up. Ace chose not to afford them... gimme a break on any other interpretation.
The new Ace band is like the trade off you get with Tommy and Eric... maybe some fresh energy... but, regardless, I prefer Ace w/his own age group... rock and roll stalwarts, versus good guy fanboys (w/no disrespect to fanboys intended); ideally Anton (of course), Richie and Chris Wise.
Loved that Coogan could sing the Zeppelin and Starchild stuff, but that's an overrated skillset, easily replaced.

“ Ace chose not to afford them... gimme a break on any other interpretation.”

Chose not to afford them????????

Did you really use that choice of words? That’s so pathetic.

If you mention “they’re cheaper” when you’re discussing your new band it’s because that money your saving matters to you.

Period.

And even if it does God knows you don’t say it.

But this is Ace Frehley we’re taking about.

I did use that choice of words, and the end result is that you're arguing with yourself, which is actually awesome. If saving money matters to you, you choose to do that. Most people choose to pay less for things, when they can. e.g. I can afford the KISS vip, I choose not to do it any longer. Duh. :rabbit:
But don't take my word for it... perhaps this will enhance your read of this situation: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/choose
And as stated, of course Ace shouldn't have said it.

Ace said himself that they were cheaper.

To mention that as reason says it all.
No it doesn't

Depending on how things are going with the COVID in September, I might just have to go to the INDY show on September 29th.

I think Ace was supposed to play Atlantic City, NJ on his own. At least until Covid screwed everything up.
Maybe he's not doing Atlantic City with Alice because he's doing his own show there a month earlier?

Ultimately it's semantics...but you saying he couldn't afford him isn't accurate. That would mean Scot left because Ace wasn't paying him enough. He was fired and he was pissed about it. It was a shitty move on Ace's part IMO. Part of the reasoning was because the replacements were cheaper...but that doesn't mean he couldn't afford him. Had Gene not been in his ear, I bet Ace would still be using that band with Scot...

Nice crowd. Also that would be the definition of papering. What’s that about an average of less than 15 bucks a ticket? But it shows what kind of money they can draw. I would bet promoters would love to pull 200k gate per show with those two, although I’m guessing this might be an outlier?

What is this tour gonna draw this Fall?

I’m curious about that myself.

Is it gonna be light ‘cause of Covid? Or does everyone wanna defy the disease and it’s an adrenaline shot to the live music industry?

I’m going on record saying it averages out south of $200K per show. Although that pendulum swing could make quite a difference.
I’d agree with that. Would guess in the sheds the attendance could be up with ticket deals and if they could pull 6k fans at 25 bucks a ticket everyone wins.

I thought I heard that the Atlantic City show was a festival gig for Alice... but OY!
Tickemaster has Ace on the bill, within this link, as I write this anyway:

I just checked prices for tickets at the INDY show in Sept., and at those prices, there's no way in hell I would go to see this.

I mean hell last time I saw Ace it was free, and the Alice show I saw a couple of years ago cost me $25.00. What the hell is up with these prices now?

Looking at all the people getting out of the house and spending insane amounts of cash. Could i afford to go? Yes. but i refuse to be taken advantage of by whoever set these ridiculous prices.

Got Jacksonville, 2nd row center this morning. What an awesome bill! I bet Ace gets about a 60 minute set. Alice is usually about a 75 to 80 min show. I always said Kiss/Alice would have been an awesome pairing. I can totally dig this instead.

Me as well, I was at the Boston Garden waiting for
Frehley’s Comet to come on after Faster Pussycat and Alice hit the stage early!

PISSED 😤
We saw that show in New Haven the day after Boston. Frehley's Comet was cut from the bill for some reason or another and when we got to the Coliseum there was a sign on the door that said "Ace Frehley Will Not Be Appearing Tonight". It's ok though, it was priceless to see FP get booed from the stage, getting splattered during Chop, Chop, Chop, and seeing my first and still probably best of 12 Alice shows. The guy never disappoints!

15 minutes away from my house in Ohio....

4,200 seater.

My buddy already texted me about it.

He’s a concert diva, always gets the best seats.

So I guess I will go with him.

We actually have front row tickets together for the EOTR show in the Gem City from last September.

I hope they make that show up, and that DLR is still the opener.
