Soul Station Album vs Monster

Post by Spoonful »

I'm voting Soul Station this time.

Paul's new album is not good, but Monster is still one of the most embarrassing albums I have ever heard from any band or artist I know. I still can't get over stuff like "I pledge allegiance to the state of independence" and "I was just another child going wild in the city, just getting by on a dream".

Soul Station is 5% good, whereas Monster is just 100% dogshit.

Soul Station blows and Monster sucks.

My standards will not allow me to vote for either. They both shouldn't exist.

I can say that Now And Then is better than Monster, but then that's not saying much.

If Monster wasn’t mixed in a manner that causes ear fatigue, it would be a passable KISS album. That being said, KISS is much more my speed than Soul Station, so I have to give the edge to Monster. No slight to Soul Station, just my preference.

I am kind of shocked at how much hate Monster gets. For me it was such an improvement over Sonic Boom. I thought a majority of the songs are good and most of the bad ones could have been fixed with a real producer. This is coming from someone who isnt much of a fan of the current lineup.

Long Way Down is ok. Right Here Right Now on the import is ok. Wall of Sound is ok. The rest ranges from forgettable to dogshit. Gene is really awful on Monster where on Sonic Bomb he was dare I say it good in places. Russian Roulette, Hot and Cold.

Sthoul Sthation sounds like a computer singing Motown karaoke.

Monster wins.

It's Monster, all day every day over Soul Station. You can't beat a Kiss release, in any form, over a solo album/project (except, maybe Carnival of Souls ).

I actually don't mind most of Monster. The mix is worse than the material. It's a brickwall that sounds dated today and hurts the ears after a while.

Surprisingly, Outta this World is the song I play the most from Monster. Not a bad tune!

Monster + Sonic Boom = good single album. I like Soul Station but anytime you can get new Kiss, hands down. Well, I guess unless it’s the Ascot tune

If we're doing Soul Station vs Back to the Stone Age, I think Soul Station might win...that song is shit. Lucky for Monsturd it has a few other redeeming qualities...at least when comparing it to SS...or Sonic Boom.

A good poll to me would be Soul Station against Sonic Boom. Modern Day Delilah owns everything on SS by miles, but everything else on SB pretty much blows donkey load.

MONSTER by a long way. Call me crazy but I think it’s a good album. Sure it’s fatiguing to listen to because of the mastering, however if you blast it loud it’s got some really good tunes on it. Back To The Stone Age could have been a single. It’s so powerful and energetic.

I voted Soul Station... in all seriousness. I've probably already listened to it as often as Monster (top to bottom); and that is not a slag on the current line up, because I liked Sonic Boom considerably (as much as Asylum, for example). Monster is harsh on the ears, and weak on the songs (I only LOVE "Shout Mercy" and like "Outta This World" actually) ~ as it was "Shout Mercy" was forward leaning without being too far awash in its retro (Humble Pie) references... should've been the single!)

Back to the Stone age is one my fave tracks off Monster!

Monster wins. I really enjoy the album, could've been betterproduced and mastered, but far from the worst.

If its about sound & mix then SS wins. This time Stanley/Collins production is just about there. Nothing fancy nor spectacular but much better that previous Kiss albums.
