Stand alone movies that needed a sequel

Post by Tail of a hurricane »

What movies do you think needed a sequel?

Here’s my list-
Cobra (86). I loved Cobretti, and thought he could’ve had another movie around ‘89.
Cliffhanger (93). Originally, there was to be a 2nd movie “The Damn”, but was aborted, parts of it became “Daylight”.

Down and out in Beverly Hills (86). Would’ve loved a movie a few years later, letting us know where everyone ended up. Always felt it was open ending,
Close encounters....(77). Would’ve loved a movie in the 80’s with Neary returning telling his story.

Starsky and Hutch (04). Loved this movie. Would’ve loved a trilogy.

I was against it to begin with; however, they won me over when the DVDs of the original series were released as a result of it (& the movie just happened to be extremely funny). I could've done with some more of that & easily.

🎢

My pick is "Miami Vice" (2006) & would've loved a trilogy + was supposedly planned to some degree had it hit big.

A sequel to Mel Brooks' "History Of The World Part One" would have been cool.

There was going to be a sequel to "Grease" ..(no, not that abomination known as "Grease 2")..where the characters
reunite at a class reunion 20 years later (in the 70's).

Another sequel in the works was for "Animal House". It was going to take place a few years later in the Haight Ashbury
hippie/psychedelic scene. John Landis was set to direct, but Belushi passed so it never happened.

I love UHF

As for me, I tend to think there are sequels that don't really need to exist lol. But one I'd have liked to have been made, even though I don't know if it would have been good, would be a sequel to Big Trouble in Little China. I think we all could use a little more Jack Burton

You’re not going to believe this. I actually put down Big Trouble Little China, then decided to not hit submit. I’m always left wanting more after I watch that movie, but ultimately I decided a sequel would have probably been a disaster.

I love UHF.

There are some I would love to see, but I am having a spaced out moment and can not think of shit. 😆

I just re-watched NIGHT OF THE CREEPS (1986) and I would sure love a Part 2 of it!

The Other Guys

I’d have loved to see a spin off prequel focusing on Samuel L Jackson and The Rock’s characters.

I saw Funhouse in the theater when it came out. It is a classic. I'd rather they not remake it. They will only fuck it up.

There was supposed to be a sequel to "Dude, Where's My Car?", but the plans fell through.

It was supposed to be totally different from the first film. Same characters but a raunchier R - rated film.
