This is the kind of comment I just don’t get. Why is it that some fans paint it this way? Like Gene & Paul actually make us buy their shit? It’s ridiculous!
In today’s world you can be a KISS for the cost of a Spotify account. You don’t even need to own the albums anymore. Every song (bar 10) is one there. And if you really lash out and have the internet you can keep up with all the latest happenings and watch about a million hours of YouTube footage for free.
Nobody makes us buy anything. Nobody goes into our wallets and takes money. And nobody should be blamed if we make the choose to purchase any of it.

Let me tell you, Dubai is for the financially well-endowed. In my previous career, we had a US client who I guess you’d say was experiencing extreme wealth. This person had a top floor penthouse residence in Dubai and would fly there twice a month in their private jet. Of course there was a yacht as well. I’ve heard it is very pretty there; cutting edge downtown architecture, etc. I also heard that much of the cityscape, even waterfront areas are man-made and were planted/designed/built with the very wealthy in mind. The very best of everything. If I was going to go there on vacation, that’s one place where I would plan to take every drop of money I had, knowing that I was going to dump it all during my trip. Kind of like Vegas LOL

There’s probably plenty of well off folks who would consider this. I guess I don’t understand the complaints about it? I would never do it but if people want to spend 20k plus on a trip and see what they would consider an historic event then more power to them.
Exactly.
Some people can and are happy to do so.
On the“kruise”, some folks do every M&G available, that’s $5K x 5 or $25K, in addition to the kruise costs. Every year.
So can, some can’t.
Some will pay $3k for a smashed guitar or an LP or a trash can or whatever. To each their own.
and btw why blame P&G for a HOTEL package fee? do they own the place?
They probably got a generous fee to play and that’s it.
Well... KISS has this build up to something "epic" on their website and the only epic side of it, turns out to be the prices. Once they were a band for the average person, now they more and more come across as band that just wants to be for those who have enough money to burn. But take it or leave it. There is no solidarity to see for their fans who will struggle with money problems because of the lockdowns. It's solidarity to those who have enough money to burn. But take it or leave it. And for Gene and Pau to talk on twitter about people should stay home and obey the strict covid-19 rules, and then proclaim next they are gonna travell to Dubai, for a concert of lip syncing and more pyro than ever ....Ok, take it or leave it.
However, "take it or leave it", used to be about your taste in entertainment, not about how much money you have. Gene and Paul just comes across about being a little too much ALL about the money for me to get excited, but each to their own. Take it or leave it.

Makes me ashamed that for most of my life people known me is that KISS fan. Going to listen to "If I could turn back Time" by Cher. Fucking ridiculous!
Sadly I'll have to agree. The real kicker for me in all this is you have comments from some along the lines of, "err, no one is making you buy what KISS is currently selling" but then they bag out other bands who are still making new music because "bad" members of the KISS ARMY have given their time and money to something they perceive to be a better product.

Yea and Tommy and Eric both live in Vegas now so Paul is the wild card in this

Where are they rehearsing? Gene is in Washington, Paul is in LA, and Eric and Tommy are in Vegas.
And each time they go to rehearsal, they open up themselves to COVID exposure.
Maybe they’ll all meet in Dubai in the next week or two, get thru the screenings and quarantines and start their rehearsal work in the bubble that’s being set up.

As a matter of interest, I just researched the price of five nights stay in the Atlantis Dubai...comes in around £1200 (call that maybe $1600?)
If you reckon watching a gig from a balcony and being able to shout a socially distanced "Hello!" to Kiss (along with some zero-value tat such as a laminate and ticket) is worth the remainder of $15000, then fair enough I guess...but I've got some magic beans you can buy.
When you water them they turn into the Alive II stage.

Kiss are so oblivious to what is going on in the world. I have 0% respect for them at this point. Now I know they will say that this is for those that can afford it... but c’mon, at what point did you decide to say the hell with the people that helped put you in the mansions you’re in now????
I was THAT kid that bought the packs of kiss cards and got the records for my birthdays, idolized those larger than life characters, and maybe naively believing that they cared about the fans at least part of the time.
Sad to say that musically they are now a fraction of the band they once were, Simmons looks tired, forgets words, while Stanley lip syncs and does the same old tired raps he’s been using for the last 20 years. It’s like seeing a funeral in slow motion, with loud pre recorded music and lots of confetti.
Dry yer eye cupcake. I was THAT kid and i think it would be cool experience.

I hope you have a blast. The people who are complaining aren't complaining that they cannot go. I believe they are expressing valid points about the ridiculous, yes ridiculous prices along with the fact that the band members themselves have regularly begged people to social distance and wear a mask. The pandemic, at least according to the media (not sure who to trust anymore) suddenly exploded into mind boggling numbers in the weeks leading up to the election and isn't getting any better. So Paul and Gene decide now is a good time to schedule a concert? They're willing to take $15,000 from people who are willing to risk their health and safety to come see Kiss? All while health officials are encouraging families to skip the holidays this year? That's what people don't get about this concert who are "complaining."

Maybe, but I don't think any of the treatments have gotten final FDA approval yet, have they?

Ok, I should have said, they will get them after Dec 10th. Didn't realize the FDA had put off the meeting for that long. But United is already flying batches of the vaccine all over in anticipation.
And yes, I know they shouldn't be first in line etc....but money always talks. Same way the NBA was getting all those tests and testing players and personnel all the time (back when tests were in short supply).

But that’s just it, most of the criticism isn’t around the moral aspect of this. Most of the complaints are about the cost and the fact that (because this event didn’t measure up to what some individuals wanted) they used the term “epic” during the build up.
You may see me as a super duper fan, but GS Vault aside I have spent nothing on the band in the past 5 years. I have no interest in the toys or the reissued vinyl etc. The tour to my part of the world was cancelled so I missed out on the element of KISS I enjoy most. For the record, I could easily afford to fly to Dubai, stay in a high end hotel and watch the concert from the balcony. But I could never justify spending that kind of money for something like this. To me, there has to be value. So maybe I’m not the super duper fan you assume I am.

Truly the apex of ridiculous capitalism .

Their putting on the show for everyone if you pay 40 bucks.
Just like any concert, you have the front row and you have the cheap sets, but in this case it’s just more extreme.

I'm a big fan of the band from 1974-2001. I do like Sonic Boom as well. I bought the Kissteria road case. I wanted to buy the vault but just couldn't justify the cost for songs that weren't good enough to make Kiss albums. I'd gladly buy it for much less though.

Actually in proportion to population the daily infection rate in Dubai is slightly higher that in the USA - in Dubai it’s about 0.05% of population in the US it’s 0.04%

Gene and Paul don't care about the fans. Just the handful or so "superfans" that will dole out $$$$$ for some awful meet and Greet. It saddens me when I think back about how much time, energy, emotion and money I wasted on KISS over the years.

I totally agree. Say whatever you want about the Dubai show, the amount of time, energy and work they are putting into this show, putting aside the fact they're senior citizens and could have retired 20 years ago, is mind-boggling. They are WORKING for it, and there IS a reasonably priced option of $39. People act as if it's a personal affront against them. I personally don't understand doing the show during a pandemic, particularly in light of everything they've said for the last 9 months, but I don't take it personally, and it doesn't insult me as a KISS fan. It would be like getting mad at McDonalds because they put out McNuggets when they're a hamburger joint.
To me, they're working hard to make this thing big and pull it off, and you can never fault people for working hard to make a buck.

The NBA made the bubble concept work, KISS should be fine too. There’s a bigger crowd present, but they’re all getting screened to get in there, so they should be fine. The odds are good, anyway.
As for KISS rubbing up against each other, well, with a 250-foot stage, if they’re worried they certainly have distancing options. Ha, picture ‘em doing the Deuce sway standing 25 yards apart.
