Re: Bruce Kulick Vs Steve Stevens
Vinnie and Mark should never ever be mentioned in the same sentence as Lynch, Randy, Jake and players like De Martini, Nuno, Brad Gillis, Akira Takasaki and Paul Gilbert.. Mick Mars is a much better guitarist than Vinnie or Mark also.Curveboy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 9:42 amI'd put George, Randy and Jake all in the same "A" list as Vinnie and Mark.Grand Classic wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 3:41 pm
I am not even a fan of Dokken, but George Lynch was better than Mark St. John and Bruce Kulick. So was Randy Rhoads and Jake E. Lee.
Hell the guy KISS could have hired - but was too young at the time, Doug Aldrich is better than Mark and Bruce.
Bruce and Doug I'd put on the B list of players.
Steve Steven's would sit on the C list...along with someone like Mick Mars.
VV blew his load on Lick It Up. The Invasion stuff is garbage. If he had any credibility he'd have been making music, forming bands and playing live these last 30 years. He's a has-been. Mick Mars, with his debilitating health issues was still on stage at close to age 70 with Motley Crue night after night.

Tough pick, but I have to give a slight edge to Stevens.

Well, if Rock 'n' Roll hasn't been your favorite music genre for thirty years...Den Dennis wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 4:24 pmYah, I can get people not knowing who the guitarist in Greta Van Fleet is, but Steve Vai... c'mon! Team Kulick, some of your votes aren't registering, apparently, because Steve's taking the lead in this poll-- so, please ... try again, so that we may have a more accurate tally on which guitarist is top of the heap, here!

I voted for SS. Killer player.
No offense, but I could see if this poll was Bruce vs Richie Sambora or SS vs Steve Lukather…...but SS vs BK is really no contest.
I love BK, but I think Bruce would even own up to that.

Always liked this tune.Curveboy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 2:44 pmReally? Do you have the 3 shows Mark played with KISS in soundboard quality to compare? He was fired for upstaging Paul...even Bruce will admit to that.Grand Classic wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 2:40 pm
You are delusional, but I will give you CC.
For fuck sake, even Paul what a mess Mark St. John was. Couldn't play the same thing twice. White Tiger sucked too. He could play fast, but was nothing special.
And while White Tiger will never go down in metal history for being a great album, Mark's playing on it is fantastic.

There's clearly a vote counting glitch going on, because I saw Steve's Atomic Playboys video today and now I know that everybody couldn't have possibly fallen for his shiny leather suit and a mountain of hair.. Bruce would outplay this gentleman with his hands tied to his feet behind his back.

Thanks to this thread I've been listening to Whiplash Smile for the first time in a long while. What a great record.

Stevens is a great player, but I am not a fan of Billy Idol. I much prefer the material that Bruce played on so that steers my vote in his direction. Nothing against Stevens, he has serious chops!

Several years ago I probably would have voted for Bruce, but after the last couple years of really digging into Steve Stevens' stuff, I have to go with him. Check out his work on Vince Neil's solo album Exposed.

Kulick is so average and generic. Steve Stevens is light years better.
It would have been interesting seeing what Slaughter would have done if Steve Stevens had joined up.
He would have been far better off with Slaughter than his bomb of an album ATOMIC PLAYBOYS
