So Cruel wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2019 4:14 pm I think the concert industry is gonna be in a heap of trouble in a decade or so. It can survive off of these prices now because you have a lot of big bands from the 70’s and 80’s still touring. Their fans are older and have a lot more disposable income. What happens when these bands die off? How many arena packing artists have come out in the last 20 years? A whole lot less then in the decades prior.
Yup. If some of these current artists are gonna get involved in the dynamic pricing game, then they better disappear for years in between tours, because it won't be sustainable on the regular.

I'm just glad that some bands want no part of it. I'm gonna see Phish next week, and they always bring the heat in concert in front of packed crowds. No dynamic pricing, price points with little to no disparity (other than lawn seats, obviously they'll be lower than pavilion seats), and the option for fans to pre-order tickets directly from the band...but they'll still gross a cool million (or so) every show, and they can come back every summer to the same city with similar results, because the fans don't feel like they're getting burned by overpaying. A million per show every year, sounds like good business to me...
A cool 1.5 MILLION a show? Really? Really? They just played the Steifel Theater in St. Louis last week. It seats 3,000. Granted, they did two nights. But there were tickets available for the 2nd show. Please tell me how they made 1.5 million dollars from an audience of 3,000???????
They also just headlined bonaroo. For the third time. One of the biggest music festivals in the us. Probably only behind Coachella. So yes, they’re doing quite well. And have been for decades.
That. And unfortunately for you, you shouldn't have even had to make that post in the first place, because they actually played 2 nights in Chaifetz Arena, not the Steifel Theater. Maybe Trey Anastasio played a solo show at the Steifel recently, but I'm in too much a hurry to check right now. I guess the deception continues, lol...
Just wanna say, I've been to these places!

The Chaf, The Stiefel.

I know where they are.

Well, if we’re measuring our manhood...

Ed Sheeran grossed an all time calendar year record in 2018 with $432.4M. A few days ago his current tour broke the all time mark of $735M and still climbing.

Good for Ed.

I honestly couldn’t name one of his songs and wouldn’t know who he was if I was stuck in an elevator with the guy.

He apparently hasn’t missed the fact that I won’t be attending any of his shows anytime soon.

Quote from the Spice Girls:

"We're very disappointed that we sold out so fast and made so much money, we really wanted late sales, discounted tickets and only half that gross."

In the real world however, congrats to the real big boys (and girls), Metallica and The Spice Girls. Infuckingsane is right.

It's entertaining to watch people try to belittle how many millions of dollars a band is making by referring to others who are making more. Spice Girls? Rolling Stones? Mere club acts compared with Ed Fucking Sheeran.

Why not go the whole hog and say "musical acts? Fuck that. Software is where its at. Facebook made 8 chabillion dollars last year and Kiss struggled to do 60million. Facebook are the real big boys."

Who really fucking cares outside of the band and their accountants? Fans of different lineups who want "their" lineup to have made the most money, thats who.

Its endearing in a way.

Lol yup. It’s very predictable yet funny. Some get so riled up over and seemingly hurt by it. That’s the only reason I still bring them up. It gives me a little chuckle. The fact that mentioning them does indeed prove points and bring others on here back to reality is just an added bonus.

It's also entertaining when posters acknowledge that they only post certain things because they like to think they have the ability to rile people up.

You gotta admit tho' the Rollers were a really good band, and have earned a real lot of deserved respect the past number of years, even if it has been very late in coming. Really good melodic power-pop, frankly like a bunch of Kiss songs, both bands would sound just fine going back-to-back on the radio (depending on the songs).

Everyone loves Kiss success thru out the years but stating the EOTR tour and how much money they made based on ridiculous ticket prices is only a slap in the face to Kiss fans. It's like holding someone down and farting in their face. You might think it's cool until it happens to you. Lol.

What reality are you bringing others back to?

That fact that EOTR has already outperformed all of KISS’ previous tours?

The End of the Road continues to rack up cash and make indelible memories. The three shows that I attended this month, all from the front row, were epic. I was fortunate enough to catch the blood towel from Gene in Virginia Beach as well as five PS picks. Pure awesomeness!

I sure hope we get a lot more from Europe. I can almost guarantee everything from England. As for the rest? My fingers are crossed.

I seriously doubt it. It was fun though. :)
The girl in front of me who was in the Pit area with Keith Leroux was clobbered by the blood cup. She was covered. But, she got a nice souvenir...and also caught an ES drumstick.

I’m sure KISS would be more than happy with those numbers on this leg.

Interesting. Always thought Montreal was a KISS loving city in the great white north.
The fact they drew that much money on their second time here in less than five months tells me Montreal is quite the KISS loving city.

It’s better than I thought they’d do on this return trip.

There also felt there was a lot less promo required for this tour as well. Not even venue posters as far as I could tell. In 2017 there were even TV ads early on promoting KISSWorld. It concerned me (although I have lot more in life to more concerned about TBH!) that there was such little hype about the tour, it seemed really low-key. Yet, the people turned up. I was at Glasgow and it was a blast. So for KISS to increase its audience in such a short space of time (for the UK at least) is pretty decent.

I'm curious to see how Toronto shows. The only empty seats I could see were nosebleeds, and looking back, I think the crowd at this show was even more into it than March - probably a summer Saturday night is a different atmosphere.

I’m guessing Toronto is gonna have similar results as Montreal, probably about an 80% buy rate as compared to a few months ago.

We’ll find out soon enough.

It's like holding someone down and farting in their face. You might think it's cool until it happens to you. Lol.
Reporting ticket sales and income is now a slap in the face. Yeah, sure, why not? I wonder just how offended and hurt you would be if the merchandise sales were reported too. What drugs/medications do you take? I ask that because no one in their right mind could possibly come up with some of the crap you do.

If that is the case, how come a week before the show in Montreal they couldn't even show me 1 ticket for sale? I couldn't go anyway but I kept checking to see, in case I won the lotto!

You were probably checking from the VIP ticket pool. There were two choices on Ticketmaster. If you clicked on that one they were sold out.

No I was just checking from the regular tickets. I know it really doesn't matter but if I had been able to go I would have been pissed that I couldn't get a ticket & they weren't sold out. I am hoping they play a date in the maritimes before it is all over, they opened their Love Gun tour in Halifax in 77, so I would think they should at least get a show there.
