Outstanding! Interesting there are some shots of Ace near the vocal mic...was he in there on some of the songs way back in the mix of the backing vocals?

Ace was on backing vox. since the beginning. Not sure where he is on the first album but you can hear him on Parasite.

Looks like a lot of the guitar takes were done with Ace's white Ovation Breadwinner, with Paul also using it on occasion.

Thought the same, easily the best looking of the band at the time. And those photos also back up his claim to have been the coolest guy in Kiss.

It amazes me how Paul is just hanging around with an open shirt like that. Even when I was young and in good shape I never had that kind of confidence in my life.

Ace was pleasant looking but he didn't come close to Paul in the looks department, especially in the 70s.

It amazes me how many old, previously unseen photos of the band keep surfacing. I sure hope once we have the Magic book that it does contain never before seen shots. How much more can there be?

Ya, I agree, but just comparing Ace in these pictures to when we first saw him in the 80’s without makeup is like night and day.

If Kiss had been a non-makeup band it would have been a different dynamic. Gene would have had to be hidden in the background. Paul and Ace would have been the face of the band, not Gene. He hit every branch on the ugly tree.

It also makes me think that Ace's stories on how he got the nickname "Ace" are not such bullshit after all .

It's a good thing they went with black and silver for costumes, cuz those boys couldn't pick out their own clothes. I wore some goofy stuff back then too but wow.

How do we know the band members were in make up in the 70's. Based on these photo's Ace was better looking then Paul until firewater got the best of him.
