I am planning on going. Does anyone know how a free show works here? Is it G.A. first come first served? Anyone know how many people it holds?

I would say more of a night club type. They have tables with seating. I saw Bret Michaels there a few years back and it was a really cool environment.

I know it's first come first serve in terms of getting into the show.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how early one should get there?

Have only ever been to the arena, here, which is nice... the adjacent hotel is EXPENSIVE. But the Casino is also fairly nice.
No idea about the WOLF'S DEN. I think it only holds 400 so this may be a madhouse!

Details on the freebie show, and how to best confirm seats... are at the bottom of this page, fyi:

I'm debating on going to this show.
I've heard even if you are first in line to get in they let in high rollers and VIPs up front then let the people in line in after the fact.

I'd be upset if I waited in line for 6 hours and didn't get up front.
Does anyone know if this is really the case?

Thanks!

I don't mind the wait but want to be up front. I've called Mohegan and nobody can give me a straight answer.
I know the BB Kings shows are true general admission for the floor but I get the feeling The Wolf Den won't be...

Thanks for the heads up.
The more research I've done online the more it looks like it's hard to get a table up front let alone on the floor due to the high rollers.

No way I'm waiting for hours and hours just to get shafted.
I would have purchased the VIP but never got a response from Ace's website as I was looking for confirmation that the VIP package would get me a table up front...

Oh well....

Also the thing i noticed with the VIP is that nowhere does it say that you even get a seat. I wonder if after the M&G you have to wait in line like everyone else......

The VIP seats are yet to be determined. Supposedly John (tour mngr) is working that out. It's NOT a large place so ANY seat is gonna be a great one anyways. I know some shows have tables, others are true GA format where it's an open floor area.

If there is anyone coming i can hold 3 spots to get in. They line now is a couple hundred deep and chances are the folks at the end wont get in. They are opening up at 630. If you want to find me im in the second line about 7 people in with the black kiss shirt.

The seating thing was a joke! Got there about 4:00 got in line which appeared to be only 75 or so people deep. Got my VIP pass and told to wait for John to bring everyone backstage. Yeah, they called "fill room" about 20 people before I got in. Headed to the entrance, and got escorted out back to meet Ace. That part was great but after hanging out backstage for a while the venue staff kept pushing for us to get out. NO way to get to the seating area so had to watch from outside. Had a perfectly clear front shot but was pissed when the high roller seats they hold out were empty. A couple songs in the high rollers started leaving. Go figure, the y're NOT the types to sit and watch this type of show. Still wouldn't let us in. Staff blamed Ace's crew for not reserving seats. Ace's crew blamed the venue for not allowing them to reserve spots.
I can say, told the staff this too, I will NOT go back and see a show there again!

Great show, great meeting Ace, piss-poor crappy setup.

Those Wolf Den shows are an exercise in frustration.

Half-interested high rollers who leave their seat early, while plenty of interested fans are on the outside looking in.

There was plenty of space on that floor to fit more people in.

We were right up against the barrier, and could see just fine, but there was really no good reason not to let more people in. They easily could have doubled the number of people in there without it being too crowded.

As for the Spaceman himself, a few observations about the show:

- Love the set list. Good mix of tunes.

- The two best performances of the night - both in terms of the band being energized and the crowd being into it - were the Cold Gin and Deuce encores. Rip it Out is plenty fine as an opener ... but since these two songs really rocked, perhaps one of those should be the opener.

- I've been to Ace solo shows in the past where he has been pretty disinterested. It was great to see him cracking jokes and looking like he was having a good time.

- Ace appears to be a recent graduate of the Gene Simmons School of Forgetting Lyrics. He lost his place in Gimme a Feeling and totally fucked up the verses to Snowblind. (On the bright side ... Snowblind! Glad to hear it!)

- In the same way that some of the KISS gimmicks are a little tired these days (Paul flying out into the crowd, anyone?), the Smoking Guitar solo is pretty played too. I like the effect in and of itself, but the whole spotlight solo thing is a relic best left in the past. Always a good way to bring an energetic show to a grinding halt. But that's just my personal taste.

- That drummer kicks ass. Glad to see Ace give him an opportunity to shine.

- Strange Ways!

- Ace may be the original Spaceman ... but if there is anyone in that band who is from another planet, it is Ritchie Scarlett. Yikes! (Said in all good fun. I'm glad he's back. Now, kindly, step away from the mic and never sing again. Thank you)

I will agree with most of this. I myself dont understand why they didnt let more folks in. There were more on the outside looking in than were in. The sound crew really needs to go over things, to me it seemed like the vocals were just drowned out by the music. Was good to see Scarlet back and he really had a lot of energy, but yeah...dont let him sing as much lol. All in all i really thought it was a kick ass show and im glad i spent the 6 hours waiting in line to go.

That sounds frustrating - unbelievable the VIP would get you a spot within the Den.
I'm curious if you were in the front of the line did that get you onto the floor for a shot at a table close to the stage?

Thanks for the head's up...

I ages with this.

I don't like how he doesn't include that transition piece that he typically uses going from the end of Shock Me into the beginning of his solo segment.(He used it on all his other solo tours and his days while playing in Kiss) Not playing that transition piece makes the solo feel more like a tacked on piece.

Add in the fact that Ace kind of plays the solo more sloppily/free form now makes it even less impressive.

Same old set. Boring. Oh, he changed the set this tour? Lame.

He's does his signature smoking guitar? Boring. He doesn't do a transition he's done forever and changes it up. Lame.

What do you expect? Its free entertainment at a casino. Its a business to make money gambling. Entertainment is incidental and secondary. The high rollers bring the serious money. For stuff like shows they get to come and go as they please. A casino isn't going to make them have to kick complaining people out. The most you brought in was maybe a meal, perhaps some beer and a few slot runs. If I have a ticket for a reserved seating show, I get to come and go too. It doesn't entitle you to the seat, if I'm not in it. Its a free show. Go see KISS in the arena there, you get what you pay for. A reserved seat. You go to see free stuff, you don't.
