It seems all that's left is sort of behind the stage seats in an arena that seats at least 12,000 for concerts.

It a year the naysayers will say that there was only two Canadian shows, Vancouver and a casino somewhere. They gave out free tickets in Vancouver, but could still only get 6,000 people interested. The casino paid people to attend.scottkfan1 wrote:yea but they had 6000 a few nights ago..end the world kiss is Doomedkissthat wrote:http://www.ticketmaster.ca/kiss-edmonto ... 7C4EC59402

That is all they can play. That's interesting (and by interesting I mean stupid). The Vancouver concert I attended had the entire upper bowl of the arena sectioned off, and even though they gave away lots of tickets the lower bowl was only about 75% full.scottkfan1 wrote:yea you will here stuff like well kiss only averaged 8,000 a night on the Canadian tour there doomed..They fail to understanding the average seating capacity of the places they play on this tour will be about 8000
Kiss has traditionally been a strong market for Kiss. In 1996 I saw Kiss at the same venue, and they sold out the entire arena in less than 30 minutes. Apart from the pyro everything about that show was about 100 times better than what I saw last week in Vancouver. The reasons are too long to list. Overexposure and a lackluster product are huge factors though.
I don't think Kiss is "doomed," but there are signs that things aren't so rosy for them in North America. There have been touring way too much here - in other words, too much supply and not enough demand. Sure, they might sell out the odd show, especially if they haven't been to a particular area in a while, but overall interest in Kiss is down.
The sheep on KIssfaq may be happy with the box office stats, but I seriously doubt that Gene and Paul are. You can bet they are pissed, and probably a bit worried.

You have it backwords, of course you usually do, facts get in your way. It's not the they sell out the odd show, it's they have attendance such as they had in Vancouver(which is the odd show) and numbnuts like you run with it as fact, as if every show is like that. Then when you called out on it with real facts, you resort to the old sheep line. You're using one show's attendance to back up your agenda, don't let the facts bother you.StarvinMarvin wrote:That's interesting (and by interesting I mean stupid). So they've over toured. Whatever, they jsut did a a US tour. No they are doing (have done) Australia, Europe, Canada and Japan with a few US dates here and there. What's the big deal? Interest should be down, they've toured the crap out of the US. Sounds like things are normal. It would be more surprising if they could tour yet again, wouldn't it?StarvinMarvin wrote:So, if I'm wrong, why didn't Kiss tour the US in support of Monster?kissthat wrote:You have it backwords, of course you usually do, facts get in your way. Canada dates are doing pretty well, excluding Vancouver. THere might be anothr stinker or 2 I suppose, out of the 19 or so dates.

Monster was held up because they deemed they didn't need it to promote the TOUR in 2012(my opinion, a bad move, but that would have been just because I wanted they album sooner. No One from the KISS Co asked my opinion).
Since Monter's release,in they've toured South America, Australia,Europe, Canada(isn't this the most Candian dates they ever played ?) and soon Japan(pretty full 2013 schedule for an aging band, don't forget the Kruise), though haters point out the only country they didn't hit during that year).
My guess, and it's just a guess, you'll see a full on US Tour in 2014(along with return trips to Europe/South America/Australia). When/if we don't then those like you can claim , they're doomed.

there is nothing stupid about my post at all.the average seating capacity on this tour is in the 8-9,000 range nothing stupid about that at all..im sure you know kiss gets a guarantee for each show regardless of ticket sales. Gene and Paul are not stupid they have been at this way too long they know the market there also doing allot of dates in Canada. That means allot of pay days. Please stop comparing things to 1996 that's not a true example of kiss drawing power that was the first tour in 17 years of the original kiss.kISS is not touring the usa on this run with the exception of a few dates..they know what there doing .and before you call anyone or anything stupid here is a little education for you.StarvinMarvin wrote:That's interesting (and by interesting I mean stupid). stupid..
a : slow of mind : obtuse
b : given to unintelligent decisions or acts : acting in an unintelligent or careless manner
c : lacking intelligence or reason
make sure you can back up accusations of someone or something being stupid with facts not emotional attachments to kiss in 1996

That was out of line.scottkfan1 wrote:there is nothing stupid about my post at all.the average seating capacity on this tour is in the 8-9,000 range nothing stupid about that at all..im sure you know kiss gets a guarantee for each show regardless of ticket sales.
You can bet they are pissed, and probably a bit worried.
stupid..
a : slow of mind : obtuse
b : given to unintelligent decisions or acts : acting in an unintelligent or careless manner
c : lacking intelligence or reason
make sure you can back up accusations of someone or something being stupid with facts not emotional attachments to kiss in 1996
However, the fact that Kiss is playing smaller venues in Canada whislt avoiding the US altogether speaks volumes.

Just FYI,Edmonton is a super hot market right now,the economy is booming and people here have money. Kiss has not played here since the Farewell tour (Sonic Boom tour was fucked due to the Canadian Final Rodeo) There was little doubt that Kiss would do well, deep pockets and the people are hungry for it.

They did no shows in Canada 2008. They played 16 shows in 2009, which were their first since 2000. They did 1 show in 2010 (Toronto), about 10 in 2011 and 1 show in 2012 with Crue (Toronto).
Seems as though they tour Canada in odd years (2009, 2011, 2013), and only play Toronto in even years (2010, 2012). Many of the markets in Canada have only seen KISS once or twice since 2009.
Toronto and Montreal have seen them 3-4 times, but most markets are less than that. Some haven't seen them at all until this tour such as....wait for it....Edmonton. This is the first show in Edmonton since 2000.
By the end of this summer, KISS will have done over 45 shows in Canada since 2009. That's a lot of shows for a country with under 40 million people. In fact, I would guess that the 2009-2013 period has had more Canadian KISS shows than any other 4 yr. period in the band's history....but I would have to check to be 100% sure.
I'm not following the argument, but I figured that I would inject some facts. Continue on...

I will add that this is the first true Canadian Tour. They are going coast-to-coast (Victoria to St. John's) and hitting every province. (Territories excl.). Sometimes, it seems to be that people forget Canada doesn't end in Halifax. Most be the most Canadian dates they've ever played in one run.Shane_Penney wrote:Not nearly as much as the US.StarvinMarvin wrote:They've also played in Canada alot during this time. Loved the show, so did my son. Pauls' voice is kinda shocking, if he would only drop some of the wails and raps it wouldn't be so noticeable. But still it didn't take away from my enjoyment of my second Kiss concert after being a fan since '76. Also when I asked my son who is a casual fan, he didn't really notice the weakness in Pauls' voice, but it is definitely there.
Spider is even more impressive live, it's like a fifth member of the show for some songs.
Shannon got big applause when she went to her seat at the soundstage. Anyone know who that blond celeb guy was who got applause too?
Never noticed the spotlights on Gene when he flew back down before. Is this new?
Lots of talk from Paul about Edmonton being the first city they played outside of NY.
Arena seemed full. Everyone was really into it. One thing I noticed different from the Sonic Boom concert is the number of fans in makeup and costumes has greatly increased.
Tour book was only 20 bucks (after the last one I bought which was Paul McCartneys' for $40 that was a welcomed surprise) . Also got autographed picture of Tommy with 3 monster picks for $30 which I was happy with.
A big balloon ball was being tossed around and Paul asked for it and punched it out to the audience. Never seen that at a Kiss concert before.
Ha, no encore break...just a little rap from Paul about not doing the walk off stage thing cause they wanted to keep on playing and then right into DRC.
Loved the show, son loved the show, had a great night. Sorry for rambling, it's kinda late here.

That was an awesome show! Crowd reaction makes the show even better. When Paul introduced Tommy, a few people said Tommy? But by the end of the show, those same people were yelling yeah Tommy! Shannon got a great reaction and people were throwing the confetti on her party as they tried to sneak out during IWMFLY. Heard Lars Ulrich was in attendance from the radio guys at K97, so that could have been the blonde guy who got the big applause. Gene was definitely the stand out player.

I forgot to mention Shinedown! They got everybody warmed up nicely. There was this guy with a big beard, a tank top and he got pretty pumped up when they played Simple Man. It was really funny.
