i wonder if something was malfunctioning because in one of the earlier pics of the concert setup it looked like there were "podiums" to stand at like on other cherry picker type lifts they've had before.jannep17 wrote:No, the spider didn't really do much. Is the "spider" just a lighting rig?
Otherwise... nothing.

A review (translated using Google Translate):
http://www.expressen.se/noje/carlsson-k ... ttat-ratt/
One hour and 46 minutes.
As long stood Kiss on stage during his concert at Friends Arena on Saturday evening.
And the show was clearly recognized by Expressen reviewer Martin Carlsson - who gave the ter of five wasps in the ratings.
- Since "Psycho circus" 1998 Kiss never really had such a violent or handsome show that they themselves have imagined or boasted. Now it feels as though they have found the right place with the spider light rig. It feels contemporary yet timeless and has both bite and catch one, he says.
Martin Carlsson out, however, that the singer Paul Stanley now been ousted by one of his band colleagues.
- Gene Simmons has now clearly taken over as KISS's brightest star. Paul Stanley has been singing pretty bad for quite a few years now and it affects his confidence on stage. Gene bombing contrast to the brilliant, powerful vocal action that lifts the songs.
As for the songs that were played, it was a substantial mixed bag. And not everyone went home with Martin Carlsson.
- Kiss is not afraid to mix the track list and to the European premiere of Friends Arena became both "Say yeah" and, unfortunately, 80s parenthesis "Heavens on fire".

I'm not a Hater and I'm not going to talk to much about Pauls voice. Nice stage. But Eric played a lot better 20 years ago. But the two main problem is Pauls voice and Tommys guitar playing. Can't understand why they chose Tommy . He is not nailing the right tones when it comes to some of the "long" bends. Lead guitarist playing false. Lead singer singing false. . . I prefer Kiss 1980 or 1992.

Cool, imagine their cars would break down on the motorway! Would they be walking back to the hotel in their bathrobes?! Never knew they would be heading back barely dressed after the show.

jannep17 wrote:My GOD that setlist was stale! Paul's voice = gone. Spider = didn't do anything.
The set list had some changes. Was it the Oath or Almost Human? No but hey they did mix it up a bit. Would I like to see some other stuff? Sure!
Paul's Voice...Hello he is 61 years old. He isn't in his 20's or 30's. Our voice's change as we get older. That's why Grandma's sound like Grandma's. Do I wish he still sounded like he did even in the 90's? Again Sure but its REALITY.
Spider was a huge change! Did it walk out into the audience giving everybody a high five and a autographed KISS Poster? NO? Its a lighting thing.
Look KISS is trying to do what they know and that's to give a great show. As KISS fans we need to realize that Hey it is not 1973 anymore or 1978 or 1983. It is 2013. What you saw tonight is what KISS is in 2013! They brought a new stage! They put some different songs into the set list and Paul still comes out and sings even if it is not to what we want. I think we as KISS fans have high expectations. By that I mean higher than they should be.
When I read these post of those complaining its like the child who's parents throw a great surprise birthday party and yet the child is not happy and wants more.
We should just be happy that they still go out there to perform. They still can write good music. They still want to give the fans a great show.
Lets be happy for that. Lets look at all that they have given us and when we do we realize that they have done a lot. And for that I am thankful!
For those attending any of the shows in Europe, I hope that you all have a wonderful time! Enjoy the magic that is called a KISS concert!

Backing vocals sound really good on PC. Cool lighting rig! Anybody notice the CD/DVD in Tommy's hand as he is getting out of the van? Probably nothing more than a copy of the show for the band to watch or listen to. Glad to see they changed things up a little.

It's all about ratios. Several people are coming near the 10:1 bitching ratio. For every post where they contribute that is interesting (regardless of the viewpoint), there are 10 that are just 100% pure bitching for the sake of bitching, perhaps because they are bored. That's when they enter the filter. During the last 3 days, at least 3 of 4 members have approached this ratio.gshaller wrote:Or more bitching from "fans" like you?rockgod wrote:What's next? Bitching is healthy sometimes. But when it become the sole motivating factor for posting, it's time to increase the filter.

Re: EuroMonster #1, 1/06 - Friends Arena, Stockholm, Sweden
I posted the following on the Kiss Army Sweden forum. And since I'm lazy, I basically just put the text through google translate, so pardon the mistakes:
Well, 1 hour and 45 minutes is actually a little too short, I think. We should've gotten three or four more songs at that concert so that it clocked in at about two hours.
Had seating this time and must say that I will never again take seats. Damn, it's dead (apart from a few songs where it was a bit more lively, but there is still no real passion and feeling when you're sitting down) ...
Did not know if I should laugh or cry when hundreds of people started leaving after Rock and roll all nite and then not returning when Kiss took to the stage again.
What is it with these fucking people? OK, obviously they are no true fans because then they would know that Kiss is not finishing a concert without playing Detroit rock city and Black Diamond, but if you paid several hundred crowns it should be reasonable to stay to the end? Or were they SO damn disappointed that they did not bear with any more? Either way, it was a fucking mood-killer.
The fact that many seats were empty was also a bit of a mood-killer. A little sad and tragic, somehow.
Then I have to say I was really annoyed at all the fucking running among the rows. Back and forth, popcorn, soda, plates with beer. Sure, buy some beer, but to run back and forth umpteen times in a concert that is under two hours is both weird and annoying. Are they there for the concert or to buy a hundred beers and become wasted? Overall, I was surprised with how many seemed to not give a damn about anything Kiss.
What the hell are they doing there? That is my question. "Check the show and spectacle," someone might say. Yes, that is possible. But when people sit like a bunch of zombies, you start to wonder. Even the people standing on the floor was zombie-like during the majority of the concert (first rows excluded).
These things made me disappointed. However, there were bright spots. The fact that they picked Heaven's on fire (no matter what you thought of the performance). It was actually a big surprise.

Similar in Australia with the crowd factor. I believe it is the venue, or was here, they had too many open spaces in crowd, segregating the different zones. 30 000 people in seating can be hard to move, 10 - 15 000 is probably ideal, plus people are getting a little too precious at concerts now days, used to have to work hard to get a good spot, now its all about the mighty dollar.

Best looking setlist they've done since the Rock The Nation tour.
