Just some quick info for people spending their day in Stockholm before the show on Saturday.

1pm - Gene Simmons makes a special appearance at the Hard Rock Cafe in Stockholm.

2pm - KISS pre-show party at Hellbar/O'Learys in Sundbyberg. Veteran rock journalist Anders Tegner and author Carl Linnaeus (KISS- The Naked Truth) will be there rocking out with the Swedish KISS Army. Plus tons of other stuff going on.

Yes, that's true. However, those without a reservation can still drop by and hang out in the bar area. 8)

I am the guy (Elias, at that other forum) that said that it was all booked. At least that was what I heard from the dude who answered my call last night.

I doubt Gene will write any autographs, take pictures or anything like that. 1. There'll be too many people. 2. He'd never do it for free.

I think he'll just drop by for 15 minutes, promote whatever, and then leave. But we'll see. 8)

I don't have the numbers, but the top section is closed-off and the stage is not that pushed back, as you can see, so it's not gonna be a 100% full stadium.

Image

When Iron Maiden will play in july the stage will be pushed all the way back and all three levels will be used:

Image

It almost looks like Maiden's stage will be all the way up on the seats, lol.

For Kiss there are still semi-bad seats availible, but most (if not all) the good seats are gone.

I think there'll be around 25 000-30 000 people.

I'd say KISS is bigger than Maiden in the states yes. I know that Maiden are big in Scandinavia but I didn't think they'd sell that whole stadium out.

Yeah, it's quite good.

The last time they played in Sweden they had around 30 000 (maybe a bit more) in Stockholm and I guess around 20 000 in Malmö, if I'm not mistaken. Can't really remember. Anyways, they've had good turnouts since the Reunion.

But, the reason for Friends Arena not being 100% sold out is 1) Casuals have already seen them. One time is enough for them. Kiss have been here quite a few times since 2008. 2) They're playing Sweden Rock Festival in a week. So, many rock fans and semi Kiss fans probably think: "Why pay to see only Kiss when I can go to SRF and see Kiss plus loads of other bands?"

Even if Kiss didn't play SRF, I'm not sure if Kiss would've filled Friends Arena like Maiden or Bruce (he played to a packed house THREE times this month. Bruce is absolutely HUGE in Sweden and the media is all over him when he's here), but I would think all three levels would've been open then, at least.

Well, Sweden loves hard rock and metal. Maiden is very, very big here in Sweden. I think they have lots more hardcore fans than Kiss does in Sweden.

I think Kiss is becoming somewhat over-saturated here.

Maiden are huge in Sweden. Only playing one show this year, so selling out the whole stadium configuration is no surprise. KISS are playing 2 shows there with the Sweden Rock festival all but sold out(some of our Swedish FAQers will have to help with that attendance figure, but I think it's around 35,000) and almost all of the "allotted" tickets for the Friends show sold. That figure varies from 15,000 to 35,000 according to which board/post/article you're reading at the moment.Still (50,000 to 70,000 for both shows), not bad for KISS in the Swedish country.

@Chris - I will definately be at the show and the pre-show party. I will try to make it to HRC as well.

All floor tickets, including the 500 extra golden circle, are gone. There are still seats left, but overall it's looking pretty good. I'm expecting around 30K.

Sweden Rock festival just 5 days later is of course affecting ticket sales in Stockholm. The day of KISS' festival show is outselling the other days of the festival, and there's been 500 extra tickets issued for that particular day. The place will be packed. 35K seems likely.

If the spider appears, it will be part of the drum riser. In fact, I think that it will be the drum riser, but it will move out closer to the audience. All will be revealed during "Black Diamond". That's my call.

Someone on the KAS site , claiming to have seen the stage set up is also claiming that over 30,000 tickets have been sold(in fairness, another poster is also "claiming" that 15,000 were sold). We'll see Saturday.

Nope. Maiden goes through cycles. They play to more people on a nostalgia tour than on a new studio cd tour. They were last big in the U.S. on the "Somewhere In Time" tour. Their numbers have decreased ever since.

Iron Maiden is more of a nostalgia act than KISS these days. When they started their new tour a couple of days ago, I think the most recent song they played was 21 years old.

They've skipped New England on the "Dance Of Death" and "A Final Frontier" tours, but they'll come here for each nostalgia tour. They make their money doing nostalgia. They hate to admit that.

KISS plays far more shows in the U.S. than Maiden.
Everywhere else Maiden are bigger, fact.
Yep.

You're confusing "Somewhere In Time" and "Somwhere Back In Time".

The "Somewhere In Time" tour played many U.S. dates. The "Somewhere Back In Time" tour, which was a recreation of the "Powerslave" tour, played something like 20 dates. Check Wiki to see if the dates for each tour are listed.

Maiden isn't in the AC/DC or Metallica class. There are times when Maiden's done better than KISS and there are times when KISS has done better than Maiden.

Why?

Maiden's huge. At least in Sweden. Bigger than Kiss.

What, is Kiss bigger than Maiden in the States?

I actually have no idea what your they are on now, but if its the Maiden England tour the songs would be old, it's a tour to celebrate the 88 Seventh Son tour and dvd release

Yep.
I've never heard anyone denying that nostalgia tours are good money. Of course they are, but to pretend they are as much a nostalgia band as kiss is laughable.

And a tour celebrating a 25 year old album is not about nostalgia?

Who said it wasn't nostalgia ? The difference being that not every Maiden tour is, therein lies the difference.

Point taken. But let's try to keep this thread about the Stockholm show. I'm happy to talk about Iron Maiden in some other thread. 8)
