Since this would have been Eric Carr's birthday I wonder if they will make mention of it and pay some sort of tribute.
A stirring rendition of LITTLE CAESAR anyone ?

Do You Love Me sounds pretty OK to me, until 1:55-1:57 ("Even the fans, they know your face").

That definitely ain't the sign of a healthy voice (well, d'uh). I mean, when you just lose the voice for a second like that and sound like a 13-year old kid going through puberty, it can't be good.

Eric sounds great on Beth. I really think that. Awesome voice. It's funny at the end when Gene cracks up.

When you listen to the intro to Black Diamond, you realize that Paul's voice is smooth and as good as ever when he singing gently (for lack of a better word). I bet he could sing a song like Hard Luck Woman really, really well today. It's just that something happens when he pushed his voice with a lot of force, then, in some parts of his range, he loses his voice and it sounds like a 13-year old.

Damn nodes. Fuck you.

Yup, I noticed that too. :?

Concerning the videos, I'd say:
- the band sounds quite good, though the songs are a bit slow IMO (okay, it could hardly be worse than some songs from the Millenium Concert CD, but they could fasten the pace a bit).
- Eric Singer sounds great on lead vocals
- Gene still sounds the same, which isn't a bad thing.

Quickie Review: My 13th KISS show between 1992 and now. I'd rank it in the middle. The band was on, but you could tell it's a mini-tour, as a lot of the song transitions were less than worked out. I love Paul, but he needs some help. Eric does a great job of taking up some of the vocal slack, but I think with some rest and maybe vocal training, Pauls voice will be more manageable. Nobody sounds like they're 25 when they're 60, but I think he could continue on for some time if he modifies the way he sings.

The venue had probably 6000 people in it, there were some sparse spots, but pretty well filled all around. It was amusing to watch Gene playing grabass with Tommy, and chucking picks at Eric during Beth.

Good show overall. Until next time.

Oh, and no mention of Eric Carrs bday.

Paul sounds awful, period. People need to stop making excuses for the band right now. People keep sayiing his age his age. Paul Rodgers sounds better today than he did 30 years ago. Paul needs to stop the preacher rants, that is not helping his voice at all. The setlist is stale. The stage is the same on they have been using for 11 years, but with a couple of screens. rap bands like Nickelback have a new stage every tour, so why can't KISS. Who wants to buy my 4th row KIss tickets for Spingfield. I can't bear to watch Paul yelp through a set again.

It is a combination of age and overuse/misuse. There are some singers whose voice ages very well. Sort of like a male porn star. Most are out of the game in their 40's, and then there's a guy like Ron Jeremy, who continues well past the age most need viagra!

I enjoy the way Paul sounds on the newer material. On some of the classics, with some coaching, he'll do fine. Look at Dio. Compare a version of "Neon Knights" from 1980 to a version from 2009. He sounds markedly different, but he was able to make it work right until the end. I think Paul could do the same.

HD cam video stills. Didn't film much, security had like 8 people within 10 feet of me because of proximity to the stage. Here are some stills. Audio was recorded with a new iPhone APP I was testing out. Have't listened yet to see how it turned out. Lots more iPhone pics to follow.....650 mile round trip for the show, no breaks, drive up, do show, drive home, NICE!

Check out my Bushkill shots too!

The first few are Paul throwing picks at me and those around me, you can see the pick...cool stuff.

We were there dead center about 13 rows back on the floor. Gene was doing a lot of fooling around and cutesy little things. The wife noticed it first but it sure looked like Eric's armband was of Eric Carr's make-up. Good close-to-home show. Best part, our son got Paul's pic.
