I really have no clue where they come up with the numbers. So far this Summer I've seen 5 shows on HSOE. Every venue has been PACKED, maybe not to 100% capacity, but you have to remember some of these places hold 20,000 people. I was there at Mohegan last night, it was sold out for sure. As far as attendence...the Mohegan Sun Arena assembled for an End Stage concert holds 7,601. The 10,000 capacity number you see might be for boxing or wrestling, where they use every square inch of the tiers and the floor. As for the new total of 184,743, maybe KISS is getting finalized adjusted totals for the previous shows. I dont know, I can't make any sense out of it.

Just checked Live Nation for tomorrow night in Bristow, Virginia. They sent an e-mail and you can now select seats based on the venue map which is really cool. It tells you how many seats available per section excluding the lawn.
Here's what I was able to calculate based on the seat selection
Capacity: 24,000 approx
Pavilion: 9,000 (4,720 sold)
Lawn: 15,000 (unknown sales)
I'm going to guess they will pull in around 10,000+ when it's all said and done. I'll be there taking pictures.

Thanks - love to see pictures. Looks like they would have cut prices with that few sold.Must be like Charlotte, sold most of the lawn seats.Charlotte lawn is gone.drdelaware wrote:Just checked Live Nation for tomorrow night in Bristow, Virginia. Question asked of Paul in recent interview about WW donations.Notice he doesn't say if someone slips us an extra $1,000 we put it in with our WW promotion.Funny though those that are saying that they add donations are the same people that said in the beginning that they were adding in the FREE lawn seats in these donations.
Q.: Explain the band's involvement in the Wounded Warrior Care Project.
A.: That's really taking off tremendously. It's everybody's job and obligation to give back and not just to get. You've got all of these brave men and women going overseas to fight for our freedom, and some of them make the ultimate sacrifice and lose their lives. Others come back and have all sorts of problems: physical, psychological. And the government isn't taking care of them. Augusta, Georgia, has an incredible rehabilitation facility, and all of these great soldiers deserve to be treated like heroes when they return. And we're making sure we don't let the government get in the way of helping these people. ... We're doing our part by giving $1 from each ticket to the Wounded Warrior Care Project. And at this point we're closing in at $200,000.

Of course. All of these numbers, including the total represented by the Wounded Warriors total($1 per PAID TICKET), are completely bogus. KISS is actually averaging like 2000 per show, and the whole thing is a sham. This tour is a failure, and KISS is wasting their time. I was at Bristown. The Pavillion was packed by show time. Some scattered seats in the very back sections to the sides, but the place was JAMMED.drdelaware wrote:Just checked Live Nation for tomorrow night in Bristow, Virginia. Yeah, I was noticing there are still a lot of seats for Virginia Beach. Hope they sell lots more tix and have lots of walk-ups. Next couple of days there should be interviews/articles in the local papers. I think there are lots of people at KISS concerts that don't know about it until the last couple days. They see G or P's face in the paper, "Oh man, I gotta see KISS at least once."
They should do a Military discount since the big Navy installation us nearby in Norfolk. Or just give away tix to the sailors and their families. It ties in with what they're doing right now and would be great press.
I'll be there and I think there's going to be lots of Seamen on stage. Uh, that doesn't sound right. I mean they might have sailors on stage presenting the check to WW.

Perhaps Pittsburgh was under-reported? That may be why the Hershey numbers were off.BeachJediSC wrote:Of course. It's just a running total -we have no way of knowing what was at each individual show, but we do know how many tickets have been paid for over all.And that's a good average so far.Add in the free lawn seats and they're doing good in this financial environment. They're doing better than I thought they would,I thought they'd have about an 8,000 average.Shane_Penney wrote:Maybe the same thing happened as what I said in my previous post also happened in Uncasville. It's only a 10,000 seater for concerts, so I've been told. Maybe the other shows were under-reported.
Regardless they seem to be doing very well.

This is great to hear considering, @ least to my knowledge, that Kiss has been touring most of the time since quite as long time before "Sonic Boom" was even an album title, no? You guys will know this a lot more than I will so correct me if i'm wrong, I haven't been following them constantly. Sure, they've had some breaks here & there & been coasting on a pretty stale setlist for a while @ times but they've been workin' really hard. & have added some new gizmos to the show & more "SB" songs, even though they haven't always picked the right ones.
I think that if they plan on starting to do an album by the end of 10, they should disappear for a little while beforehand & here & there while writing, recording, etc... so the diehards & the fringes can get hungry for them again & not saturate the market for the 4th time.
/Kiss has never been a band to learn from the past though, so...

Arena holds 10,000 for basket ball -how many seats are added in the floor?
How many are then taken away for the stage?

The Mohegan Sun Arena capacity seems to have become quite a mystery to most on these boards. i might be able to shed some light on this topic.
As per the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference the arena holds 9,518 for basketball. When it comes to an End Stage concert the number drops down to 7,601. That figure comes from Pollstar's database. As far as the 12,000 number for concerts that some are coming up with...a third configuration called "Fullhouse Concert" maximizes seating capacity for that arena. This particular set-up is being used for Dane Cook later this year. There's almost no stage at all, just a little podium in the middle of the arena. If you take a look at the attached seating charts those numbers seem to jibe with the configurations. I hope this helps all those involved.

As far as concert stats if you don't have:
KISS Alive Forever, The Complete Touring History and KISS Alive II, A Concertography 1998-2009 you're just banging your head against the wall. Together they give you stats on 98% of every concert from the beginning until the end of Alive 35. Truly a must have.

They are reported in the magazine itself. If you can view the most recent issue online, you should be able top find it there.I'm just confused by the partial report. But it does mean numbers will only go up when mid priced tickets are reported.nibbler1982 wrote:On what website can Billboard Boxscores be obtained.

I've been to 7 concerts at Mohegan Sun Arena. I know when the place is packed and when it isn't. It was packed for the two KISS shows (10/03/09 and 8/19/10). It appeared that there were more people at thekissthat wrote:.Mohegan Sun Arena seats a little over 7,000 when seats are not
sold behind the stage due to curtains and/or video screens
Arena holds 10,000 for basket ball -how many seats are added in the floor?
Their own website says 10,000 for basketball,12,000 for concerts. So by your "estimation"they taking up over 1/3 of the arena with set up.Please provide some hard facts and not just opinion to contradict what they themselves are saying.
10/03/09 show. I sat in the exact same seat for both shows.
From this website:
Uncasville, CT
Mohegan Sun Arena
Promoter: Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) Live
Opening/Other Act(s): Buckcherry
Reported audience: 7,131 / 7,601
Reported gross: $477,200
What part of 7,601 don't you understand? That is the total number of seats that were put on sale to the public. Seats behind the stage were not put on sale because they were obstructed view due to the video screen and KISS Army banners. The venue states on their website that
the arena holds 10,000 seats total. 10,000 seats are put on sale if the band does not use curtains and/or video screens.
I seriously doubt that 7,131 figure is correct. I did not see any blocks of empty seats at that show. There were a few blocks of empty seats at the 8/19/10 shows way in the back.
Lastly, the Mohegan Sun Arena hold 10,000, not 12,000.
http://mohegansun.com/entertainment/arena.html
When it comes to live music and entertainment, top headlining concerts and premier sporting events, the 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena, located in Connecticut, is the leader in the entertainment business. From Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Britney Spears and Kenny Chesney in addition to championship boxing, WWE and professional basketball - Mohegan Sun gets them all.

Didn't say I didn't understand-I asked where you got your info because I wanted the info.Info without a link or directions to where you got that info does no one else any good.Spouting out numbers without backup/proof does help the rest of us learn.Till we have facts we can learn by , it's just opinion.

I love that people believe numbers reported to Pollstar.
Even a casual fan with a passing interest in the industry has access to analysis from people like Bob Lefsetz.
LiveNation has been papering their shows like no one has ever seen. This includes shows by otherwise "bankable" acts. Even the Bon Jovi tour, successful for reasons unknown, has seen limitless giveaways, 4 for 2 deals, Groupon sales, and $10 tickets.
In the end, while I understand wanting "your" band to be successful --- who cares? Just go and enjoy the show.

2 more shows and those maiden numbers will be history (and we are not counting the real draw)Admin wrote:It'll be interesting to compare how KISS' tour works out in the current market. Iron Maiden, who completed their 23 date "Final Frontier" tour (for which I have 22 stats excluding the two festival dates) grossed $14,248,528 with 269,008 of 399,324 tickets sold. Or 67.37% with an average audience of 12228. I don't think these numbers will change substantially if I get the Saskatoon data. They have a similar stage production (sans Paul's mid-floor mini stage) and diehard/casual following...
KISS are doooooomed (sorry I 've had to say that )

Well, maybe you can spice up the place by posting pictures of 2 completely different venues, neither of which resembles the other, and accusing KISS of lying.
