They did not scale back the staging no different then the last run they did
Back screen is smaller and the spikes around it are gone. They have lights around instead and the lighting around the back screen is smaller and tighter together
I don't see anything different. It may look smaller because its more of an open arena but they're not gonna spend extra $$$ on a slightly smaller screen. Just enjoy the show and stop looking for flaws.
They don't spend extra money on a smaller screen, they just don't use the entire screen they had before. And I don't look for flaws to hate, I just really have a hang up on staging etc. So when they change the production I just get really hung up on it
Sorry if it seemed like I was trying to hate on them. I am very much going to enjoy my shows in Europe this summer
Hey man, I'm sorry I seemingly got the wrong end of the stick. It's super cool that you care about looking for these little nuggets with the staging and after seeing the 2 new songs added into the setlist I'm trying to work out how feasible it is to see them at Download! Keep rockin, and I hope any stage changes have been done for the better and the end of the day (or road). :)

Those vids are actually ok. 100x better than the garbage we saw from DLR recently.
DLR actually seems to listen to advice. He keeps it simple, and tries to follow the original phrasing in the songs.
Yeah he actually sounds decent. Impressive.

Lip sync fail at :45 mark.
He has to learn not to lean away from the mic when the backing track is still running.
Seems that he has got lazy on this lipsynching. Also during the chorus he is nowhere near the mic.
I think to some degree he is still singing in the mic, it's either just turned off or lowered down during parts. I also don't hear his voice in the chorus, but tbf I was doing this :o :o :o rather than paying much attention to the sound on the clip.

Smart move. Drop a song that drags for 7+ minutes and replace it with a better song from the same album...and add another hit from 80's. Win/Win for me. :D

Now do the same thing with 100,000 Years and add Strutter and Creatures of the Night. Unfortunately, they never will because of the visuals they feel HAVE to be associated with 100,000 Years.

It is sad. It sucks Paul lost his voice and has to resort to lip syncing. It's very disappointing from the standpoint that not too long ago both he and Gene chastised those who do the same thing. But this is Kiss we're talking about so no surprise.

Man, Paul truly doesn't give a crap anymore. And why should he? People come to the shows. He might as well not bother getting close to the mic at all. Eventually he won't even be moving his mouth, and people will still be saying things like, "Well, my 2-year-old loved it, that's all that matters."

As for DLR, he's almost as bad. He's using tapes out the old wazoo. Yeah, he's really singing in each song, but the backing vocals are 100-percent tapes, and you can even hear Dave's VOICE in the mix during those vocals. Listen to "Panama", for example.

No, thanks. Not rock and roll to me. Just a spectacle.

That's awesome! Was this sometime after the show?

I've seen him outside of a KISS show twice, with the first being at NAMM and I was a little star struck (first time I met anyone associated with KISS) and I said something short that I can't really remember, but he replied with a nice greeting and my name. I looked at him shocked and asked how he knew my name, and he said, "It's on your badge"
No before it! I also saw gene simmons before the show randomly he was super nice!

As much as I love DLR, I cannot understand why he can't find a band that can actually SING, as well as play well. Remember how good Gene's/Ace's old band sounded? Those boys were super-pro! Just hire them!
The piped in BV's actually detract from his performance, they're just too obvious.

What the hell happened to rock and roll.. :-?

I like those songs. Some of their very best! Can do without the show part, though for Paul can't do it anymore. Agreed that Strutter and Creatures should be on the set. I'll bet there will be furthet changes at some point. Maybe those songs, Strutter atleast, will indeed be on the set. Hart to imagine Kiss will go out without playig Strutter in their final tour.

Like baseball and other things it's undergone what I call "pussification". George Carlin coined that term years ago. And I agree with him.

This song has been a highlight of the UK shows since it's been installed into the set, and is a definite crowd pleaser over here.

And in Europe as far as I can see.

Not sure what's happening over there in the US and A? I thought we were supposed to be the reserved, stuck-up ones? What's happened to the fun in the US? Where's it gone? Why have you lost the ability to enjoy a great KISS song? Possibly, the last great KISS song?

Backing tracks are usually recorded by the artist in the present day. It counterproductive to the subterfuge to have a track from “X” amount of years ago singing perfectly. In a controlled environment, in a studio, on their time, take after take, even a vocalist with diminishing skills can sound infinitely better.

I don’t what’s the case here.

"the hits"

All Kiss has to do is drop let's say, three more songs ("Say Yeah" included in that) and choose three songs off Kiss Alive and IMO, the show would be vastly improved.

I know some say they're covering all eras etc., but these fans don't care about all eras. They want to hear 70s, and maybe one or two 80s (Lick It Up definitely). Now of course, I'm just a nobody on a message board making a suggestion, the crowds are going to the shows. But it's not about getting crowds (although a better set would bring more true hard rock fans back IMO), it's about making the show and setlist even better. I can't imagine a single person would say, "Why did they replace Say Yeah with C'mon and Love Me?"

The part where Tommy falls out of his shoes when he tries anything remotely Kulick.
We both know how good that will be. He doesn’t even attempt the second half of the solo.
If he did he’d first fall out of his shoes...then probably proceed to tear a tendon or two in his fingers.

That or Tommy just may full boat Louis Del Grande. :D
Nobody giving props for attaching a most apropos Louis Del Grande reference to Tommy trying to play Bruce’s solos?

Geez guys...I expected one or two of you LOVING it!

Whatever. :D

Jesus
Still pushing Say Yeah
It’s a fucking dud live
agreed----
It’s just ridiculous
I have seen 4 shows so far and it doesn’t go over
Most people don’t know the song
I’m glad they brought back the 2 they did but for fuck sake
Crap like Say Yeah , LIU and Beth stick around while great songs just rot
At least I know what to expect the next 2 shows I attend

I hear ya
Say Yeah for Creatures Of The Night
Beth for I Stole Your Love
Heavens On Fire for Unholy
Or something similar
Anything at this point

This song has been a highlight of the UK shows since it's been installed into the set, and is a definite crowd pleaser over here.
I've seen the Cleveland & Pittsburgh shows & 'Say Yeah' always gets a great crowd response & sing-a-long! There's a reason it has stayed in the set since it came out: Great KISS song & just as good - if not better - Live! "Yeah! Yeah!! Yeah!!"

Plus - this New set list is great!

It got old, fat and rich, it's audience got old, it lost it's fire and it's hunger. Most of these heritage acts are so past their 'best before' date it's a miracle they're functioning in any capacity.

It definitely wasn't sold out (maybe 85%?), but the arena looked pretty full, especially compared to how sales looked just 2 weeks ago. I hope the tour picks up momentum. The clips I've seen from last night look awesome. Yeah yeah yeah, we know Paul is lip-syncing. I really don't care. It's a great show, and I'll definitely catch another 2-3 shows before it's done.

Im interested in how much per ticket they get on this leg of the tour. It’s possible to fill up most arenas with cheap tickets. I would bet that if they average 10k/900k that could be realistic and reason to keep going out. That would be a 25 to 30% decrease from the first leg, but I bet that most of the bean counters would be happy with that.

Now do the same thing with 100,000 Years and add Strutter and Creatures of the Night. Unfortunately, they never will because of the visuals they feel HAVE to be associated with 100,000 Years.
What visuals?

The full DLR opening show. He was fu**ing great! I was worried after seeing the first Vegas show, but he's pulled it together and sounded great. The band kicks ass too.

DLR certainly adds value to the ticket price & the show overall. Last time I saw him live was back in 1988 so I’m glad to see him out there still doing his thing & hamming it up. Did anyone notice if he had merch available at the show?

I do believe it would take much less than 10k/900k to keep this viable.

Look at Monster back when.

2013 Monster (Worldwide) 10,045 / $1,163,952
2013 Monster (Canada) 5,680 / $468,972

Sometimes you make a lotta money.

Sometime you make a WHOLE lotta money.
