My least favorite large venue in the entire state but the show in Columbus left me with a fever...will this my "Last KISS" in Ohio!?

I agree about the least favorite venue in the state comment. Horrible place but if KISS is there so am I. Maybe we’ll run into each other. Where are you sitting?

Haven't bought tickets yet. It's a weeknight and it'll be the next school year, so I need to wait until the week before to even put in for the personal day. I'm hoping that by then we may know more about more shows? Dayton, Lexington, and Charleston would all be preferable. Another show in Columbus or Cleveland??? Also, since even the pavilion at Riverbend is mostly dreadful unless you're willing to spend over $150, I may just grab a $20 lawn ticket....That place is just dreadful. I mean, I like it being down on the River, I like Coney Island and the casino being there, but it's just a bad rock venue.PsychoElder wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:22 amI agree about the least favorite venue in the state comment. Also, Ted Nugent is playing Columbus the Friday after this and BOC are playing Portsmouth that Saturday. If I can get Friday off and a "Hall Pass" from the wife, I'm hitting all three!!!

My Wife and I are in the pavilion, we passed on lawn seats just to stay out of the sun. I imagine it will be Hotter Than Hell that day. I’ll keep my eye on this thread as the show approaches to see if you have bought tickets. Would be cool to meet up if only for a few minutes.Tymaster wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:42 amHaven't bought tickets yet. Definitely! If I go I'll definitely pregame over at River Downs. That's a nice sports bar/restaurant and beats killing time in the sun at Riverbend. We may took our son to his first concert and get the lawn family pack. Also, I may just wait until that morning and see what kind of firesale there is on pavilion. I wound up with $700 Journey tickets for about $50 doing that once, but it's a risk and always very hit or miss...PsychoElder wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:53 amMy Wife and I are in the pavilion, we passed on lawn seats just to stay out of the sun. I see people complain about this venue, but out of curiosity what are some of the issues? Looking at some photos the ceiling above the stage and first sections looks a bit low, does it slightly block the lawn view?
A close friend of mine lives in Cincinnati and we've talked about maybe meeting for a show sometime there, so I'm curious about it.

Piss poor acoustics, bad sight lines, tiny staging area (even bands like Journey look sort of “smashed” in there), low ceiling, lawn has 90% obstructed views, place spends a great deal of late winter/early spring under water (seriously) so it just kinda has a musty/earthy aroma. Parking isn’t great, getting out is worse. Not a very “rock” town or venue.AJrox wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 1:31 pm I see people complain about this venue, but out of curiosity what are some of the issues? All of this!!!! KISS is the only band I will go see at this place just because I go to all Ohio KISS shows. Hopefully I’ll run into a couple of my fellow FAQers tomorrow night. I’m guessing brother Nibbs won’t make it to this show but I know he had hopes of possibly attending.Tymaster wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 2:05 pmPiss poor acoustics, bad sight lines, tiny staging area (even bands like Journey look sort of “smashed” in there), low ceiling, lawn has 90% obstructed views, place spends a great deal of late winter/early spring under water (seriously) so it just kinda has a musty/earthy aroma. The weird thing is, Riverbend is fine for some things but KISS isn’t one of them. Sooo, naturally KISS have played there exclusively since 2000. There’s a certain ambience and nostalgia being on the river and behind Coney Island but for big theatrical rock shows - it sucks. The whole configuration is just off and it sucks energy away from the performance. The lawn is mostly a place for mutants to drink their weight in overpriced beer and eat Skyline and LaRosas. The concert is secondary...PsychoElder wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 2:18 pmAll of this!!!! KISS is the only band I will go see at this place just because I go to all Ohio KISS shows. I’ll be at this Cincy gig. I thought the Louisville show was my final KISS show, but things took an unexpected turn. I’ll be with my younger brother again and I’m also taking my 18 year old son to his first concert of any kind. We will be in the pavilion.

I did take the day off and will keep an eye on tickets BUT, having seen Iron Maiden last week, I just don’t know if this will compare, lol. I believe KISS will be back in Dayton, Lexington, or Evansville as well...PsychoElder wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 2:39 pmSo did you get tickets Tymaster?Tymaster wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 2:29 pmThe weird thing is, Riverbend is fine for some things but KISS isn’t one of them. Re: EOTR 2019 - Aug. 29, Cincinnati, OH
I saw Maiden there 2 weeks ago and they fit all their huge stage props on that tiny stage somehow. I will say though that I was in the lawn all the way up against the railing in the center (so basically like 10 feet back from the last row of pavilion seats) and you couldn't see anything on the bottom half of the stage. I've been there a million times and it's never been that hard to see the stage. I wonder if Maiden actually had the stage floor lower than normal to fit everything in there? Hopefully it won't be like that for KISS. I think moving all the way back up on that hill might even be better since you're up higher. There's NO WAY they're gonna be able to do the lifts for Gene and Tommy at the end.
The real only advantage of Riverbend is you can get lawn seats to nearly any show for like $30. I paid less for 2 Maiden tickets and 2 Kiss tickets than I did for ONE Kiss ticket in Atlanta

Got section 600 seats. Never been to the venue before, hopefully it's better than it sounds from the posts here. Been trying to see a show on this tour and it hasn't worked out with my work schedule. Excited to finally be going!

I'll be there tomorrow night with my girlfriend. Went to the two Michigan shows in March & thought that would be it but I started dating her shortly after the Detroit show, she's never seen Kiss but wants to, so we're driving down to Cincinnati for the show
That's a drag about Riverbend not being a great venue but I hope it doesn't cramp the show too much & the acoustics aren't too bad
We're in the center of the pavilion but I can't remember which row, R S or T I think. Paper tickets, don't have them with me
I'm excited though because I was thinking if they didn't come back to Michigan on this tour that I probably wouldn't see Kiss live again. So this show is a bonus for me, should be a great night!
I only hope the police are kind to me with my Michigan license plates
Anyone recommend any bars or restaurants around the venue? We'll probably get in early enough to grab some food & a drink

Oh wow, kind of seems like bad design to have the lawn being that obstructed, and having part of it underwater for part of the year is crazy.Tymaster wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 2:05 pmPiss poor acoustics, bad sight lines, tiny staging area (even bands like Journey look sort of “smashed” in there), low ceiling, lawn has 90% obstructed views, place spends a great deal of late winter/early spring under water (seriously) so it just kinda has a musty/earthy aroma. With the stage area being kind of smaller, I'm curious to how the KISS set up will be. I'll be looking for pictures and videos after this show.

California isn’t really close to anything but if you’re getting there early, just take the Beechmont Avenue exit. If you can’t find it there, you don’t need it. I do enjoy the bar and restaurant at the Racino to the immediate east and north of Riverbend. Shared parking lot.Hotter Than Heck wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 6:03 pm I'll be there tomorrow night with my girlfriend. this show is insane..... they have $240 seats with OBSTRUCTED VIEW and wonder why people arent buying. the cheapest seat in the house is over $120 before tax. before that, lawn seats. terrible.

It’s very well sold Brother Scott. I’m sure it’s all done with a logarithm on what percentage is already sold, how much they went for, and what percentage is left.scotty_rhoads wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 8:53 pm this show is insane..... they have $240 seats with OBSTRUCTED VIEW and wonder why people arent buying. the cheapest seat in the house is over $120 before tax. before that, lawn seats. terrible.

I’ve been to Riverbend several times over the years. I’ve sat in the lawn section and the pavilion too.
It’s not my favorite place to see a show, but it’s not bad. I just don’t particularly like sheds though.

Going there tonight, and Indianapolis Saturday night.
Was also at Columbus back in March.
*saw Iron Maiden at Riverbend two weeks ago. Had pit tickets. Awesome experience.
Have section 300, row L tonight.
The wife wasn't going to go (she's not a big fan) but she ended up getting lawn tickets with a group of girlfriends for like $25 or $30 each.

Headed to Cincinnati myself tonight! I thought Charlotte was going to be the last KISS for me but the fiancé and I decided to take one more trip! My good buddy is coming along as well and we all can’t wait!
Heard tons of horror stories about Riverbend but the way I see it , I’m in the same room as my music heroes so that’s enough for me!
Ready to hit the road!

Im here now. Looks like the have the platforms for the cranes but I can't imagine how they're gonna work. Paul's stage is literally like 4 rows from the stage, it's like why even bother?
