Saw on tv news that security will be increased. Extra barriers maybe 30 metres in front of the venue and nobody gets past that without a ticket and a pat down search. Might take longer to get in so leave plenty time and DO NOT bring rucksacks or large bags. They'll take them off you, you'll cause delays and it'll take me longer to get in!

Note for anyone collecting tickets that the Hydro box office will be closed. Go instead to the SECC box office. If you've never been before it's a large box of a building, 1 minute walk away beside the "Armadillo" (which looks like Sydney Opera House, can't miss it).

It's also the Scottish Cup Final on Saturday, with 50,000 football fans at Hampden. 3pm kickoff, so traffic will be super busy on the M8 before and after.

This is from the Hydro website:

The safety of the public attending events on our Campus is our highest priority and we continually liaise with the appropriate authorities, including Police Scotland. Robust security measures are in place to provide reassurance to our visitors.

Here’s what you need to know if you are attending an event:
Allow extra time for our additional security checks
Full bag and pat down searches will be carried out for all events at The SSE Hydro and Armadillo.
Bags larger than A3 size (35cm x 40cm) will NOT be permitted into The SSE Hydro or Armadillo.
Large bags not permitted into the venue can be deposited in the Cloakroom in the SEC Centre (£5 per item) and will be searched.
The SSE Hydro and Armadillo box offices will not be open. Please go to the Box Office in the SEC Centre if you want to collect tickets, buy tickets or have a query about tickets.
Congress Road (the loop road in front of The SSE Hydro and Armadillo) may be closed to public vehicles at times. The SSE Drop Off and Pick Up Zone at the West of the Campus is in operation for events at The SSE Hydro, and drivers dropping off or picking up passengers will be directed there.

Still a few seats left. Those lower areas have been sold out for months, now showing a few spare again. Standing area sold out in a day or two.

See y'all in there, I'll be rocking out at the front. :paul:

Swapped a couple of texts with a friend who was working at an event at the Hydro last night. Said the queues were massive, doors opened at 6pm, show started maybe 7 - 7.30 and people still coming in at 9.10pm. That doesn't necessarily mean everyone had been queuing all that time, but get there early on Saturday.

Me and Mrs Spiff have a table booked at the Rotunda for 5pm, grabbing a quick bite then walking over. If the queues are that big I'm gonna see if we can climb into a flight case and get wheeled in the back door. 8)

That was worth the wait. Fanfkntastic! Blew the roof off, band looked like they were enjoying themselves and the crowd were up for it. 5th time I've seen them, going back to 83, and I'd say that was the best yet.

Paul's singing voice held up okay (we all helped) but it sometimes sounded a bit strained talking to the crowd.

That was my wife's "first Kiss" and she was never a huge fan of them. She wasn't even sure she wanted to come with me.
Happy to report that the Kiss Army now has a new recruit! We've been fangirling all the way home and doing it again this morning.

I'll post some photos soon.

Over to you Birmingham, enjoy the show!

Ok here are my thoughts on the show last night.

Firstly, i went for the vip, mainly for the early entry as i can't be arsed waiting in line all day for a good spot.

What a shocking rip off! The vip ticket for the sonic boom tour in 2010 got you a poster, program, tshirt delivered to the house and $50 to spend on kissonline as well as early entry all for £200.

This one cost £275. I got a nice Kissworld canvas bag containing only a flimsy Kissworld licence plate, nothing else. Just before they opened the doors for us I found that i should have also got a wee box of guitar picks, so now i'm going to have to complain about that when i get home. That is a really piss poor package.

Now onto the support, The Dives. They really should not be on this tour. They performed very well, but i don't think they're good for a Kiss crowd. They received a fairly warm reception but i think thats due to the Paul connection. One more thing, Evan was playing a Gibson similar to what Ace would play (sorry, i don't really know guitars) with a lightning bolt on the strap and i thought "oh, he may be Pauls son, but he's an Ace guy", but then I figured he just borrowed one of Tommy's guitars.

As for the main event. WOW. What a fucking show. They blew the roof off The Hydro. The minute silence for Manchester is a classy act and for one night the whole Scotland/England rivalry was put aside. As for the setlist I was impressed. I don't actively watch or listen to bootlegs or youtube clips, so the last full kiss show i saw would be on the afore mentioned sonic boom tour, so the inclusion of War Machine, psycho circus and fucking Flaming Youth was great. Also no Love Gun, so thats another plus

Raveneye, the support we got in Rotterdam, tore the roof off the place. They moved around, were VERY tight and energetic players, at one point the singer/guitarist sat on the bassist's shoulders. It was crazy.

I will say I thought the crowd lingered a bit longer than normal, sure there were the usual bunch who make their way to front after the show ended searching for that elusive pick that no one else noticed, but it seemed there was no rush to leave. Security were telling people to make their way to the exits. Anyway, great fun had by all and here's a wee video I took (skip to 2.20 to get past the Led Zep song).

Awesome footage for conveying that "I Was There" feeling.....and I was, along with my 3 friends. I must have been almost next to you then; was literally on the barrier front centre. I've been lucky enough to be front row a few times, but this was just that bit more special. The band & fans seemed really "up" for it, probably to do with the recent tragic events, but out of 40 (so far) KISS shows I've seen since 1980, this was in the top 5....no, make that top 3!

Good video! We were at the barrier too (seems like everyone was!) just to the right of you, in front of the Konfetti Kannon.

Remember that lass who was running about the photo pit with a video camera? Have a look at this clip and keep an eye on the videowall in the background. You're bound to see yourself. I've managed to get a couple of great screenshots of me and Mrs Spiff on the backdrop with Kiss playing in front of us!

This was my first KISS show. I want to live it over and over again, i get goosebumps thinking back to that night when I play a live version of Firehouse or Crazy Nights etc. The heat of the flames during Lick It Up, getting a pic, Watching Paul flying over me - so surreal.
