FYI about Sugar Loaf, NY. The cops are unreal in this area. Do the speed limit, come to full and complete stops at all stop signs, use your turn signal and don't drink. The last show I went to here, they had a road block set up before the concert and were patrolling all over after the show. For being such a tiny town the police are out in force for any hard rock act that plays this theater. Besides that it's a great theater.

I have not heard anything about an opening act. I would be just fine if there was not one.

Ok home from the show. Had a really good time. Opening act was local band called Years Ahead or something like that. Set list was almost the same as night before. They made it through Change. Encores were Detroit Rock City, Cold Gin and Deuce. Deuce was extended at the end, it was pretty cool. After New York Groove he said give ourselves a round of applause for singing so well. He asked isn't that what Paul Stanley used to say? Then he said I can't remember it has been so long since I played with those idiots! I think Ace is in top form and seems to be having a very good time. The crowd seemed to have liked the Kiss songs more than the solo songs. Before Ace came on they announced this was the first sold out show of their season for the venue. Anyone of you going to see Ace will be very happy with the show.

Awesome!!
Can you tell us anything about the sound/mix, Ace's voice or his playing?
Also did he mention anything about his band? I know Chris Wyse from the old days in Clifton Park NY.

No rocket ride was played. He did mess up almost all the verses. Ace's voice was pretty much what you would expect. He did mention all the band members but not saying where they were from. Ace apologized for moving from NY and said I hope you are not mad at me jokingly. Richie said he didn't know if he was in Chester or Sugar Loaf and that he was from NY but not this area. Sugar Loaf is actually a small little arts and crafts village in the town of Chester.

Hope you all have/had a great time.
I grew up in Ulster County and miss it a lot this time of year.
Can't imagine anything better than seeing Ace Frehley in autumn in upstate NY.
That's my idea of heaven right there. 8)

Uncasville CT is just as good--hope you make it.

I mean to ask earlier. Were there less problems with the sound at this show? And was Ace into the material more? The first show seemed a little hectic based on a few videos I watched.

Can't say as I wasn't at the first show for comparison, but Ace did motion for his guitar to be turned up a few times. One of the people I was with did comment that the sound people weren't that good.

As for the show... It was an absolute blast! Ace may have been in better form than I've ever seen/heard him. He did forget the lyrics to Gimme a Feelin' and a few other random verses here & there, but overall he just came off as cleaner (for lack of a better term). I know a lot of people on here aren't big fans of solos (I love 'em), but I have to give props to the bass player. He did a n incredible solo lead-in solo to Strange Ways. Having seen Ace many times, that song was probably the highlight of the show for me.

I was at this show, and it was spectacular. Yeah, Ace forgot the words a few times and botched the solo to Detroit Rock City, but it was ROCK AND ROLL! His band is absolutely fantastic, by the way. It's amazing how much difference it makes when all four members can sing well. His drummer out "Paul Stanley"-ed Paul Stanley on Love Gun, Strutter, and King.

By the way...does anyone have any decent photos of the show? I was so into it I never took out my phone. I'd appreciate it if folks could share. Thanks!

Then Paul has no business commenting on Ace's guitar playing. Paul's guitar playing compared to Ace's guitar playing is on par with Ace's voice compared to Paul's voice (now moreso then ever). Besides, Ace always sounded like Edith Bunker with a sinus infection.

I wonder if people would say the same if Paul did this...

Anyway, excited to see this show in a couple weeks.

Paul's was no different on the Live To Win tour. It's the same type of projection image.

Great hearing SNOWBLIND!

The background vocals suck... but the band and Ace sound good otherwise.

Probably not. There's a mystique about Ace that Paul has never had. Pul has experienced a lot more success than Ace has, but there's something to be said about getting the opportunity to see a living legend live Ace every few years. Paul is everywhere, and I think that oversaturation really hurts him.
