Section 103, Row C, Seat 20...Meet and Greet and acoustic "soundcheck" pre-show! Hitting Alpine Valley tomorrow night in a cheap seat, too, in case I don't get to see Def Lep with all the extra going on...hehe

Re: 8/16/14 - Tinley Park, IL
My brother and I picked up a couple of private club suite tickets. I'm not a big fan of this venue, but I always wanted to see a show in one of those boxes elevated over the main floor of the pavilion. The view is supposed to be superb.
What's the timeline again for the bands taking the stage?

I'll be there! Kinda shitty seats, sec. 206, row MM, seats 12 - 15. Could have paid more and gotten better, but these will be good enough. Better than lawn seats with the forecast anyway!!

Re: 8/16/14 - Tinley Park, IL
I took my older brother and his wife to see the show last night. They had never seen KISS before, so I was excited to see their reaction. As I watched the boys perform, it occurred to me just how much of a gimmick band they really are. While they sounded tight, it seemed they rushed through each song. Paul did sound much better than I expected but his banter between each song became very tiresome very quickly. As casual fans, my brother and sister in law were disappointed that they didn't know as many songs as they thought they would.
I know there's been much said about the set list, but seeing/hearing it live drove home the point that they need to change it up. War Machine, I Love It Loud and Hide Your Heart could easily be replaced with more well known songs. Since this is a greatest hits tour in some respects, I would think they would play more classics.
On the other hands, Def Leppard put on an amazing show with a set list to match their performance. If I didn't know better, I would have thought I was seeing them on the Hysteria tour. They sounded that good.
All in all, I'm glad I went and my guests had a good time. I was just hoping for a little more. On a side note, there wasn't the usual encore routine. Paul used the usual "curfew" line and said they didn't have time to disappear and wait for the audience to bring them back out. They just stayed on stage and played Black Diamond and RNRAN.

I was there too. I didn't come away disappointed, but I have to agree with your point about the set-list. We all know how special effects, particularly pyro, are timed out to certain points of certain songs, but they can take three or four of the songs that really do not feature pyro and swap out different tunes here and there. I know when they were playing Come On And Love Me, Got To Choose and others on those one-off shows they were doing earlier in the year, I was really psyched to hear them on this tour, so I guess that's been the one disappointment for me.strangeways66 wrote:I took my older brother and his wife to see the show last night. As for everything being rushed, it's a race to 11 pm and goodnight. That's it. You can almost set your watch to these shows. Personally I could go for no opener (although it's got to be a very cool thing for these bands to be on this bill), give DL and KISS more time even if to play three additional songs each.
