Curious as to how upgrades generally work--do you goto the box office before entering, or is there a kiosk or something after you get in? Does more money get you a better upgrade or does everyone pay the same price and you get the best that is available? Can anyone shed some more light on this.

Thanks,

I went up to the box office before I went in and asked if they were doing seat upgrades. They said yes when you enter go to the left to the services counter. Sure as shit there was a small line there. Get there ask if I can upgrade they say "sure what do you have?" Show them my $20 lawn ticket and they pretty much have a stack of tickets. They ask how many you want and show you what they have. Pay an extra $20 per ticket and your all set. I ended up in Sec 1 to the right of the stage. Before KISS went on I was walking around the center and saw a couple buddies of mine so we started talking. Next thing you know the show starts and I stay there the whole show. Bottom line is I turned my $20 lawn into a $40 5th row center.....not a bad deal.

No it wasn't working tonight. Venue was too small for it.

Did you start by getting your lawn ticket as a walk-up and then immediately upgraded? For the upcoming Chicago show, lawn tickets are $46.50, and there seems to be plenty of pavilion seats. Just wondering what the best approach is to swing an upgrade deal. Thanks

No actually I got it during the July 4th holiday as they were running a $20 promotion. When I got there I went to the box office before I went in and that's what they said for me to do. They scanned my ticket I entered the venue went to the vendor services line or whatever it was called, picked out my upgrade handed over my lawn ticket plus $20 and was a done deal. I can't imagine other venues doing it any different but I couldn't tell you.

Just got home ...

Crowd: Packed. Not sold out. The lawn (general admission; standing, no seats) was not roped off like it was at the KISS/Motley Crue show. Many more people here tonight than at that show. Lawn was full but people had plenty of room to not be on top of each other. I was standing on the lawn, 5 feet from
the fence , behind section 12. Sound was good. A pole was blocking a bit of stage right (Gene's steps/platform and Gene's lift), otherwise it was fine.
From my view sections 1 through 8 under the roof looked pack. A friend was in section 4 and she said that there were some empty seats in her section.
The open air reserved seats (seats on the lawn) were not sold out, but very packed. A cluster of seats on the far right of section 9 and a cluster of seats
on the far left of section 15 were empty. Paul stated there were 14,000 people there, but there definitely were more people there. My guess would be
15,000 or 16,000.

Def Leppard: Crowd was very into them. I don't consider myself a fan, but I don't dislike them. I knew all of the songs played (I have "Pyromania",
"Hysteria", and "Retro-Active" and I saw them on the "Hysteria" tour). They sounded good. As far as Joe Elliot's vocals go he's definitely singing live (not
on tape), but I'll guess that on the "Hysteria" material it sounds like his vocals are going through a harmonizer with a slight delay to make it sound a bit
fatter. He's not a vocalist who holds long notes, so there are many times where echo is used at the end of certain lines of the lyrics. They didn't look like an opening band. It was cloudy and sunset happened shortly after they hit the stage (Stage time: 8:00 - 9:15). For an hour they had their full production going.
No problems seeing the screens.

KISS: The only disappointment was the lack of the spider moving. This venue's stage is not very wide and not very high. There was definitely no way that
the spider was going to move. During the first night of the Farewell tour at this same venue Gene did not fly. He did fly at the second show, but the lighting rig/platform was very low. The only time the spider moved was for Gene's flying bit. I did see the "Monster" tour at Mohegan Sun last year and really wanted
to see the entire production again because it's a great production. This show needs to be seen indoors.

The band was very tight. Everyone sang really well. Paul sounded very good. Tonight was "Calling Dr. Love".

"Hide Your Heart" musically and vocally sounded very good and the audience was very much into it.

The production on "War Machine" was very good, but it was better on the "Monster" tour. The dragon effect last year was better (where the dragon breathed fire from stage left to stage right behind Eric's drum kit). The way they did it tonight was good, but not as good.

Nice additional pyro at the end of "Love Gun".

This tour and the "Monster" tour definitely had the most pyro I've seen at any concert. Great grand finale.

Actually, I'll add a few things to the disappointment list:

- needed to be a two hour show, minimum

- there should have been at least one song from "Monster"; I'd prefer at least one song from "Monster" and one from "Sonic Boom"; I would select "Outta This World", because out of the two songs I saw them play last year "Outta This World" really worked, plus Tommy should have had a song to sing on this tour

- in celebration of the 40th anniversary they should have used the old "Do You Love Me" footage (or created new footage) that showed the history of the band
and all of its members

After watching some clips on Youtube from throughout this tour ...

I prefer when Tommy shot the three rockets at the end of "Black Diamond" rather than on "Lick It Up". I do like the new way that they are performing during
Tommy's guitar solo (Tommy front and center, with Gene and Paul behind him).

I prefer that they start the show with "King Of The Night Time World".

KISS stage time (9:40 - 11:00). There is a curfew at this venue (11:00 p.m.). See the Aerosmith post below concerning the curfew.

Tonight was a very good show. Would have been much better with the spider doing its things. Preferred the "Monster" tour.

--------------------------------------------------------

MANSFIELD - Aerosmith rocked out hard, if not a little too long, at the Xfinity Center last week.
Selectmen voted Wednesday night to impose a $3,066 fine for the few minutes Aerosmith went past curfew at their "Let Rock Rule" tour stop July 16 in Mansfield.

The show started at 7:30 p.m. and went seven minutes past the venue's 11 p.m. curfew, Town Manager William Ross said at a selectmen's meeting Wednesday night.

The Xfinity Center's entertainment license with the town includes a two-tiered system, which allows selectmen to fine the outdoor venue 25 cents per concert-goer for shows that go up to 15 minutes past curfew, and 50 cents for shows running 15 to 30 minutes late.

After an hour, the charge increases to $1.25 per person, per hour.

Ross said 12,264 fans went to the Aerosmith concert, which lasted less than 15 minutes past curfew, resulting in the nearly $3,100 fine.

The charge is minimal compared with overage fees of past shows this concert season.

Last month, the start of the Journey concert was delayed almost an hour because Journey Guitarist Neal Schon was stuck on a plane in New York, and ran 50 minutes past curfew.

The result was a $17,000 fine, which Xfinity Center General Manager Bruce Montgomery said Journey agreed to pay.

Montgomery was not at Wednesday's meeting to comment on the overage fee.

Just got home. Show was awesome!!! Myself & lady friend both did Gene makeup and probably got stopped by no less than 25 people asking to take pictures. Can't really say much beyond the review above mine. I don't have any complaints. The pyro was by far the LOUDEST I've ever heard a band execute.

Funny moment: After Black Diamond, Paul talking about the curfew and saying something along the lines of, "That [black diamond] was supposed to be the last song. Many bands usually go offstage like they're leaving for the night and the crowd calls them back out. We've even done it before..." Hahaha I was thinking like, "You ALWAYS do it!" Lol.

Paul ruled tonight. That guy - man... he is ZERO bullshit when it comes to performing rock n' roll and 100% genuine. You can just tell.

Our $20 upgrade was a MASSIVE one for us in that without it, we would have been section C/extreme Gene's side under the roof. Our new tickets put us near-front and center, about 19 rows back. Perhaps the icing on that cake was that Paul's crowd platform was within 5 feet of us. I kinda froze up and became starstrucken, to be honest haha.

I also pretty much lost my fucking shit for the entire show. As soon as the lights when down, my voice was gone for the night inside of 30 seconds and now I'm nursing a horrible neck strain from uncontrollable headbanging.

Hide Your Heart was awesome. My personal fave was probably I Love it Loud, though Gene did accidentally mess up a verse haha. Black Diamond was pretty epic too. I don't know. Whole fucking show was worth every red cent.

Def Leppard were pretty good. I was bummed as hell that I'd have to sit through them as I wasn't a fan by any means but they played a lot of their radio hits and performed very well. They've won me over, I'll admit.

Hope everyone who attended had a great time.

Thanks man, they really spoiled her with attention and Paul interacted with her throughout the show.

There is nothing like experiencing Kiss all over through your child's eyes . I was 3 feet tall when I first saw them. Last night marked my 90th Kiss show and my 10 nth consecutive show with my daughter. Looking forward to KK4 and Vegas!

Hey friend,

There was no intention to use it due to the stage limitations . Before they even reach any venue they already have the specs and know already what they are going to use in terms of production.

Paul doesn't like the sheds to begin with but I had this conversation with him about playing here and he said "for an amphitheater so big, the stage is the size of a postage stamp". He gets bummed when he can't do the full production, you can see it in talking with him.

It's too bad because it's quite impressive. I didn't think much of it when I first saw it online but when I saw it last year at Mohegan Sun I was quite impressed.

And for anyone interested in attendance, 12,000 strong.

it was a fun night.

i thought def leppard were pretty tight. their sound was decent and i was impressed with them. i love Pyromania and High N Dry, so i was pleased with what i heard.

KISS. huh. not sure how i feel about the KISS part. the pyro was intense. i loved it. that's why i go, mostly, now. but the music/playing/singing/banter - it all felt like they were just going through the motions. there wasn't a lot of passion there. they seemed much more into it on the Monster Tour, which i saw twice. the "praying" stuff really put me off. you're about to sing a song about your dick being a gun and you're going to preface it w/ a speech about how important praying is to you? that's odd. also, i don't care that you pray, paul. honestly. i want you to blow shit up. i want you to blow my ears out of my head. i don't want to hear that you like to pray.

sheds suck, btw. not loud enough.
