Gentle reminder to those attending the Phoenix show, especially if you're traveling in from out of town, it will be well over 106 degrees that day with higher humidity- making temps feel in the 115++ degree range. Wear cool clothing, hats and bring PLENTY OF WATER.

Even after dark it will still be over 100 degrees until much later in the night, early morning hours.

Limit beer and alcohol intake-it's a deadly combination in the high heat and will NOT hydrate you. Spending several hours outside in over 100 degree temps is always dangerous, so bring plenty of water, stay safe and enjoy the show!

Don't forget it might storm that night as well. We are in Monsoon season and we get Wicked dust storms. I'm planning on bringing some dr. masks for the family just in case.

Sorry but, I'm more excited to see my daughter going as Eric Carr to the show than the show itself. :eric:

Good idea too, seems this year we're actually going to have some storms. Was supposed to be 118 on that day, but they've dropped the temp back. Still you never know.

They've played there 5 times previously, as the venue keeps changing it's name with new corporate sponsorship (formerly Desert Sky Pavilion, Blockbuster Desert Sky Pavilion, Cricket Pavilion, Cricket Wireless Pavilion, Ashley Home Furnishings Pavilion). The venue seats 8,000 under the canopy and another 12,000 in the lawn area.

Truthfully, I don't like this venue at all. That said, I've seen many concerts at DESERT SKY ( yes, I still call it by it's ORIGINAL name... ) simply because for years it's been the "go to" place, so to speak, for countless bands during the AZ. summer season. For better or worse ( ) !

Of course, there are some exceptions. If you're lucky enough to get seats center stage or SLIGHTLY to the left or right, one can have a great time. However, because of the layout where many seats are spread out too far it absolutely sucks when you're stuck in those areas. And the prices are ridiculous even for those seats! You might as well sit in the lawn if you're going to be that far from the stage.

For tonight's show ( my 21st KISS show) I'm VERY lucky ( and SURPRISED) that I have second row ( sec. 100 center stage), the closest I've been at a KISS show since my front row seats for the 'Farewell' tour back in March 2000. It should be fun! Everyone who's going tonight...ENJOY! 8)

Funny enough 'shaner', the Pavillion is generally CLOSED in the winter! But I digress. ( ).

Yeah, I know....most acts don't tour during the winter, and if they do, they don't play outdoor sheds. Which makes no sense to me. I'd love to see a band play outside in Phoenix in mid-November, or mid-January...it's usually beautiful that time of year.

Nah....not really...only 98. However, it's 35% humidity (which kinda sucks for Phoenix) and 30% chance of rain. Hopefully for those going, they'll only get monsoon winds (which will cool things down some) and not rain.

That's great advice. Very easy to dehydrate especially when people want to have a few drinks before and during the show.

Even though at 8pm it's 98 degrees don't let that fool you, still easy to dehydrate.

At least it's not 115 that was predicted last week! Wish I could have gone, so whoever is going, have fun!

Awesome job on the makeup!

I can so relate, I got my daughter into KISS when she was 13. She's been to three shows now (none in makeup, though!).

She text me the other day on her way home from work: "had a tough day, listening to some "GGRRTY" to make me feel better"

That's the kind of stuff that warms a dad's heart 8)

Yep. Arena shows >>> outdoor shows all day air day.

Where are your seats? I'll be in section 5 just in front of Paul's riser in the middle of the 2nd row.

I'll never in my life understand why anyone wants to bitch or moan about a set list. So what... you know what songs they're gonna play. They have roughly 6-8 songs they HAVE to play and the rest is picked from a group of 10-15 they've been playing since Tommy and Eric joined. It's not like they're gonna dig up "Mainline", "Naked City", "or "Heart of Chrome".

Just enjoy that they're still alive and able to put on a show. Hell, most people are having medical problems by the time they're in their mid 60s.

They were the ones that said they were shaking it up. They haven't changed it at all in, what, 3 shows? I never said I didn't enjoy that they're alive. I don't really care what they play either. I just wonder why they would lie about shaking up the setlist.

Amen!
Had a GREAT time at the show last night and thought I'd died and gone to heaven when they shot out those streamers along with the opening chords of Psycho Circus!!

I DO recall seeing the little girl in Eric Carr's makeup and I'm kicking myself now for not coming over and saying hello!

Did any of you folks see the guy in the Gene makeup and big red cape? I see that guy at every Kiss show in Phoenix and God Bless him--he goes all out with the costume, no matter how freakishly high the temperature is. There's dedication for ya.

I hope you all had as much fun as I did.
(And yes, it'll ALWAYS be Desert Sky, no matter how hard they try to change the name to Cricket -Home -Store-Ashley-Ak-Chin Casino or whatever else they're calling it now :D )

They were the ones that said they were shaking it up. They haven't changed it at all in, what, 3 shows? I never said I didn't enjoy that they're alive. I don't really care what they play either. I just wonder why they would lie about shaking up the setlist.
I learned a long time ago to take anything any performer or entertainer says re: their performance with a grain of salt. It's all spin to fit an agenda. If they would've came out and said "We're planning on playing the same songs we usually do" then interest in the tour wouldn't be as much. Saying they're planning on shaking up the setlist some generates more interest and throwing the token "Hide Your Heart" in there is enough to say "Hey, we played something we haven't played in years... that's shaking it up."

I really think some people expect 5-7 vintage rare songs every time a band says they're shaking up the setlist.

they could play the same set every night and just have one spot that rotates throughout the tour... the rotating encore thing was so cool when they did that for awhile on The Tour. that's ALL that they would have to do to eliminate 90% of the bitching about the setlist. One surprise per night. Everyone is happy. Except for the people that refuse to be happy no matter what. lol
