Even when KISS do well, it's not their 'fault'

So, what we know now is:

1) Edmonton has lots of money

2) KISS is in Edmonton

3) people in Edmonton have so much money, they will buy a KISS ticket just to get rid of some of that money

4) the fact they bought a KISS ticket in no way shows KISS is a popular draw, it simply shows Edmontonians have too much money

oh shit..also from the article:

"...The original members Ace Frehley (lead guitar) and Peter Criss (drums) aren’t in the band anymore, and if anyone complained, no one heard. The “other two guys” — Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer — were capable replacements. In fact, they’re an improvement."

Red Walrus wrote:Loved the show, so did my son. Pauls' voice is kinda shocking, if he would only drop some of the wails and raps it wouldn't be so noticeable. But still it didn't take away from my enjoyment of my second Kiss concert after being a fan since '76. Also when I asked my son who is a casual fan, he didn't really notice the weakness in Pauls' voice, but it is definitely there.

Spider is even more impressive live, it's like a fifth member of the show for some songs.

Shannon got big applause when she went to her seat at the soundstage. Anyone know who that blond celeb guy was who got applause too?

Never noticed the spotlights on Gene when he flew back down before. Is this new?

Lots of talk from Paul about Edmonton being the first city they played outside of NY.

Arena seemed full. Everyone was really into it. One thing I noticed different from the Sonic Boom concert is the number of fans in makeup and costumes has greatly increased.

Tour book was only 20 bucks (after the last one I bought which was Paul McCartneys' for $40 that was a welcomed surprise) . Also got autographed picture of Tommy with 3 monster picks for $30 which I was happy with.

A big balloon ball was being tossed around and Paul asked for it and punched it out to the audience. Never seen that at a Kiss concert before.

Ha, no encore break...just a little rap from Paul about not doing the walk off stage thing cause they wanted to keep on playing and then right into DRC.

Loved the show, son loved the show, had a great night. Sorry for rambling, it's kinda late here.
Thanks, I'm glad you didn't get a FREE ticket. Seems like those that "claim"(LIE) to get a FREE one always hate the show and claim that no one enjoyed it.

That's interesting (and by interesting I mean stupid). The Vancouver concert I attended had the entire upper bowl of the arena sectioned off, and even though they gave away lots of tickets the lower bowl was only about 75% full.

Kiss has traditionally been a strong market for Kiss. In 1996 I saw Kiss at the same venue, and they sold out the entire arena in less than 30 minutes. Apart from the pyro everything about that show was about 100 times better than what I saw last week in Vancouver. The reasons are too long to list. Overexposure and a lackluster product are huge factors though.

I don't think Kiss is "doomed," but there are signs that things aren't so rosy for them in North America. There have been touring way too much here - in other words, too much supply and not enough demand. Sure, they might sell out the odd show, especially if they haven't been to a particular area in a while, but overall interest in Kiss is down.

The sheep on KIssfaq may be happy with the box office stats, but I seriously doubt that Gene and Paul are. You can bet they are pissed, and probably a bit worried.
You have it backwords, of course you usually do, facts get in your way. It's not the they sell out the odd show, it's they have attendance such as they had in Vancouver(which is the odd show) and numbnuts like you run with it as fact, as if every show is like that. Then when you called out on it with real facts, you resort to the old sheep line. You're using one show's attendance to back up your agenda, don't let the facts bother you.
So, if I'm wrong, why didn't Kiss tour the US in support of Monster?
I'm attending a "Monster" show in the U.S.

Let's see, just a guess, because I know no more about there inner workings of scheduling than you do.

Monster was held up because they deemed they didn't need it to promote the TOUR in 2012(my opinion, a bad move, but that would have been just because I wanted they album sooner. No One from the KISS Co asked my opinion).
Since Monter's release,in they've toured South America, Australia,Europe, Canada(isn't this the most Candian dates they ever played ?) and soon Japan(pretty full 2013 schedule for an aging band, don't forget the Kruise), though haters point out the only country they didn't hit during that year).
My guess, and it's just a guess, you'll see a full on US Tour in 2014(along with return trips to Europe/South America/Australia). When/if we don't then those like you can claim , they're doomed.
Fairly significant that they're avoiding their biggest market, no?
Maybe, but there might have been more money to be made elsewhere. Scheduling also comes into play.
