I will be there! Will be sure to take some pics...I was wondering if I had made the right decision to go and see them this time around, but the reports and pics from Perth have been promising.

Any chance I could get someone to purchase me a Collingwood KISS jumper in large size?

Sounds like Sydney will be the Swans jumpers only.

If you're after a new doormat, just get a normal Collingwood jumper.

No Wall of Sound. Set list was DRC, SIOL, Calling Dr Love, Hell or Hallelujah, Firehouse, Out of this World, I Love it Loud, War Machine, Love Gun, Crazy Crazy Nights, R&R All Night, Lick It Up, I Was a Made For Lovin' You, BLack Diamond (may not have been in that exact order, best I can recall at the moment).

A few pics I took...it was a decent gig, Paul sounded a lot better live than I was fearing, the whole band sounded pretty tight but there was just something lacking, the crowd didn't seem to be totally into it, at least not from where I was standing. Audible boos could be heard when Paul introduced "something from the new album".

At least Gene's flying rig (During ILIL) seemed to go off without a hitch this time....though the cherry pickers during R&R All Night malfunctioned....Gene's only went up a little bit and Tommy's barely got off the stage.

What seat configuration was the stadium in? Looking at yours pics, it seems it wasn't the smaller theatre configuration.

It definately wasn't the full stadium. I'd say about a third of Ethiad was given over to the concert, the rest was roped/curtained off. Still a decent size though and a pretty good crowd considering it was a work night.

No...Blood spitting/flying during ILIL and fire breathing during Firehouse.

Paul seemed a bit frustrated trying to get the crowd into it. He sounded pretty good though, from where I was standing.

Ha! It was a pretty good performance by KISS I thought, no real surprises but they sounded pretty tight and slick and energetic, there just didn't seem to be a whole lot of 'magic' in the performance. The only song Paul seemed to struggle noticeably on was I Was Made....

Here in the States, we have to rely on Wiki and all it gives us- varying capacity of between 12,000 and 74,000, depending on the event. So 1/3 puts it at a good size audience. THANKS. Still makes ones wonder why they(promoters) chose to play the venue for 2 nights with attendance around 20,000 each night and not just play one huge show. you know the band likes getting paid for 2 shows.

I'm wondering if the fact that there is an AFL football match being held on the ground on the weekend had something to do with it? They may not have wanted too much of the surface being damaged by opening it up to a larger crowd...

Review: KISS Play Monster Show In Melbourne
http://www.noise11.com/news/kiss-play-m ... e-20130306" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

KISS returned to Melbourne last night with yet another performance of one of the greatest rock shows on Earth.

KISS in only about one thing – entertainment. Despite Paul Stanley being 61-years old and Gene Simmons being 63, the band attracted all ages. The comic book heroes deliver nothing but a good time. 10-year old kids and their 60-year old grandfathers share the Kiss live experience together.

Lets not overlook some of the greatest pop rock of a number of generations. Kiss have never ranked in the any of the top artist, guitarist, live performance or songwriting lists but in their 60s can still sell-out arena shows around the world. In Melbourne, they are performing two arena shows to 40,000 people.

If you’ve been to a KISS show you know the story. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are too smart to mess with success. This is a fan driven show generated over decades and based on the songs people want to hear, plus a few new ones. The recent ‘Monster’ album was kept to a two song minimum but both songs blended with the Kiss classics.

The fans came to hear the hits and see the spectacle and KISS delivered both (as always).

Every KISS show is larger than life. It has to be. So are they.

The KISS setlist for Melbourne for March 5, 2013 was:

Detroit Rock City (from Destroyer, 1976)
Shout It Out Loud (from Destroyer, 1976)
Calling Dr Love (from Rock and Roll Over, 1976)
Firehouse (from Kiss, 1974)
Hell or Hallelujah (from Monster, 2012)
Christine Sixteen (from Love Gun, 1977)
Outta This World (from Monster, 2012)
Psycho Circus (from Psycho Circus, 1998)
Bass solo
I Love It Loud (from Creatures of the Night, 1982)
Crazy Crazy Nights (from Crazy Nights, 1987)
War Machine (from Creatures of the Night, 1982)
Love Gun (from Love Gun, 1977)
Rock and Roll All Nite (from Dressed To Kill, 1975)
Lick It Up (from Lick It Up, 1983)
I Was Made For Loving You (from Dynasty, 1979)
Black Diamond (from Kiss, 1974)

Review: KISS bring intimacy to 13,000 fans at Etihad Stadium show in Melbourne
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainme ... 6591154027" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Image

THERE aren't many who've been intimate with 13,000 people. Unless you're Ron Jeremy.

But for US rock band Kiss bigger has always been better and playing to 13,000 fans at Etihad Stadium is classified as being in 'intimate' mode.

Melbourne is Kiss HQ in Australia and the band and the Kiss Army know it.

One thing has changed since the last time they addressed the local chapter of the Army - a new Kiss album.

However so loyal are Kiss fans even the dreaded "here's one from the latest record" introduction only provokes a mild exodus to the bar.

Otherwise they deliver exactly what the fans want - Kiss klassics Shout It Out Loud, Detroit Rock City, I Love it Loud, I Was Made for Loving You, Lick It Up, Love Gun, Rock and Roll All Night - and the obligatory fire-breathing, blood spurting and flying guitarists. And lots and lots of pyro.

The setlist has changed slightly since their Perth and Adelaide shows - with 70s fave Christine Sixteen and 80s hit Crazy Crazy Nights in the mix, the latter with a rare mistake from the band.

Alas Melbourne missed out on Shandi, the soft rocker that was only a massive hit in Australia - boo.

If you want to see genuine devotion that spans generations - and tips on making millions through merchandise - you must see Kiss at least once.

'Kiss' onstage during their Melbourne concert at Etihad Stadium. Picture: Ian Currie

And credit to feathered frontman Paul Stanley's surgeon - since his double hip replacement the 61 year old is busting some serious rock yoga moves.

And Stanley's still got some of the most amusing between song banter in rock, dusting off his old favorite

"Australia has always welcomed us with open arms... and open legs."

And when Stanley says "we want to take a picture with you" the audience don't charge $1500 like the band did as part of their VIP packages.

Warming the stage for Kiss, Motley Crüe pulled out their usual hits and tricks with a few additions.

Tommy Lee performed his upside down drumming stunt whilst playing along to Skrillex. Now a DJ, Lee gave the rock loving audience possibly their first taste of dubstep.

And with near naked women half their age gyrating on stage and constant cursing the band gave the large number of kids present an early lesson in anatomy and salty language.

Tickets are still available for the final Melbourne show at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

The tour visits Sydney on Saturday and Sunday and Brisbane on Tuesday.

So it seems they keep rotating one song every night like they did on the US leg last summer. That's a cool thing. Unfortunately, they do that with the third song from Monster.

Kind of surprised they did that with a 3rd Monster song, considering this pretty much is still basically the start of the Monster Tour. Listening to the reports though it doesn't sound like the new stuff went down that great (same as in South America) so I guess they'd rather just cut the dead weight and play something that draws a stronger reaction.

What I'm mostly surprised about is that they dropped Shandi.

Crap.... could they look at these poor reactions to Monster songs and say to themselves - - - why bother recording anymore new material :(

Yeah. But what do they expect? That the new songs are already as well known as Rock And Roll All Nite? I guess nobody expects them to play 10 songs off of Monster (everybody was surprised that they even played five songs in South America) but at least have the decency to keep three songs of the album in there if you're doing an album tour. If Wall of Sound doesn't go over well, at least try something else from Monster. Eat Your Heart Out would probably be more well-received than Wall of Sound.

All For The Love of R&R would give Eric another vocal or Take Me Down Below gives Paul a little break and is just cheesy/sleazy enough to work (IMHO anyway)
