People must have had fun because if it was boring we would have had more updates by now.

To the show in VA beach tomorrow or on the monster tour? either one works

*wonders if he can stow away on a semi headed for VA beach and sneak in the venue via climbing trees*

I have to say they r Def sticking with the Monster theme without being corny. This stage might be one of their bigger productions and took the Kiss experience in a more modern direction. I am from NY and will be doing the West Palm Beach show in Florida. Looking forward to saying hi to some of u. Anyone going to be there?

Rumor... threat... it's such a fine line. :D

Incidentally, my wife said she liked the song "Boomerang" when recently I dusted off that CD for a car ride.
Have I mentioned that she's not really a KISS fan?

both bands pulled out the same ol' (boring) GH set ...give it time Dr Love will replace War Machine soon too.
But hey Joe Sixpack and his family will know all the songs at least.

Rumor... threat... it's such a fine line. :D

Incidentally, my wife said she liked the song "Boomerang" when recently I dusted off that CD for a car ride.
Have I mentioned that she's not really a KISS fan?
Hah! Oh what a fine line it is....

And really? I don't think i've ever met anyone who has had a good thing to say about No, No No II, I meant Boomerang

ok, I expect a beating here but, (sigh).........I like Boomerang
ok, there I said it.
That's OK. I like BBB from "Animalize!"

Mötley Crüe - Saints of Los Angeles, Wild Side, Shout At The Devil, Same Old Situation, Looks That Kill, Don't Go Away Mad, Sex, Home Sweet Home, Primal Scream, Dr. Feelgood, Girls, Girls, Girls, & Kickstart My Heart.

KISS - Detroit Rock City, Shout It Out Loud, I Love It Loud, Love Gun, Firehouse, War Machine, Shock Me, Hell Or Hallelujah, God Of Thunder, Lick It Up, Black Diamond, & Rock & Roll All Nite.
"Lick it Up."
Who decided (Paul, I know) that this song is compulsory for setlist inclusion? Honestly, I really don't like it.

both bands pulled out the same ol' (boring) GH set ...give it time Dr Love will replace War Machine soon too.
But hey Joe Sixpack and his family will know all the songs at least.
How is Mr. Sixpack, and how are Mrs. Sixpack and all the li'l' Sixpacks?
Last I heard, having a few of um themselves watching 2 bands in Va tonight LOL!

I just got back from the show. I avoided this site yesterday because I was excited about seeing the new stage and it's been a long time since I saw a KISS show and didn't know everything that was coming, so forgive me if I'm posting about things you guys already are well aware of.

First, Motley. I'm not a fan. Don't hate them, just never got into them. I wasn't expecting much of anything, really, but was curious. I have to give them their props. They played a very strong set, and Neil actually sounded pretty good throughout most of it. Their stage was pretty cool, and of course they had all the dancing girls, the drums going around on a rollercoaster, etc. Their sound was very muddy, though, but the crowd was very into them, and they seemed genuinely thrilled with the response.

I was disappointed that the road crew was setting up KISS' stage in full view of the audience. They should've done it behind the curtain, because it was easy to make out what the stage was going to look like while they were getting everything in place.

Once it all started, I was at first perplexed by the lack of the KISS logo. Perplexed and disappointed. There are just some things in the show you don't fuck with, and the flashing logo is one of them. I still miss it and wish they would've used it toward the end at least, but I have to say, the giant HD screen behind the stage won me over as the show went on. That thing was INCREDIBLE. It was just absolutely crystal clear and amazing to behold. Some of the footage shown on it was cheesy, some of it was cool. During "War Machine," there were cool graphics of a literal KISS army of robots or something marching, a dragon breathing fire, etc. I liked it. The colors were great throughout, both on the screen and with respect to the lighting.

I thought GOT was an absolute show-stopper, and as a cynical KISS fan who's bored with them in many ways, I never thought I'd say that, but it was absolutely fantastic. The presentation, the pyro, the red flames, Gene's blood spitting, etc., etc. It was just all absolutely perfect, the highlight of the show for me.

Paul's voice sounded OK. He is never going to regain what he had even a few years ago, but it's passable at this point, at least in a live setting. There were times I heard it crack, and he sings everything low when he can get away with it, but he does look great and is very fit.

Tommy and Eric were truly excellent tonight. I'm someone who will never give up my allegiance to the original lineup. There's a chemistry and edginess there that will NEVER be replicated. But these guys did a great job. Tommy's playing was spot-on, albeit the typical great clone job, but he nailed every solo, and Eric seemed to be having more fun than usual up there. The singing was great as far as the backups, which was a nice contrast to motley, who definitely still use tons of pre-recorded loops.

If motley had outdone KISS, I would be the first to say so, but KISS clearly won this battle. Easily. Better songs, better production, better pacing, just a better, more professional show.

What sucked, though, was the length of the set. Not even an hour and twenty minutes, and MC played for a full 90 minutes. Paul said something about there being a curfew and the place was going to "shut down the power," so they could only do one more. Kind of a disappointment there.

All in all, though, it was a very strong showing for KISS. Their playing was very, very tight, and the new stage production is probably one of the strongest they've had in years when you take in the whole spectacle. I don't think there's anything mind-blowing about the stage itself. It's fairly sparse, actually, in some respects. But the giant screen is very cool and hard to look away from at times. Oh, and Eric unveiled the Alive 2 cats when his set rose up in the air! I know there's a bit of sacrilege here with him using those, but I have to admit, it gave me chills to see those again, and they had lights in their eyes, which was a cool twist.

Gene did seem to shoot sparks from his boots when flying, but it seemed like only one boot worked tonight. Pretty cool. Anything new is cool at this point.

Setlist was generally lame as usual, although WM was a nice return. The crowd seemed very into it, though, and obviously diehards like me did NOT make up the majority of the concert payers.

I think it was probably the strongest I've seen KISS with this lineup, despite Paul's vocal issues. Again, the only thing that really was disappointing was the length of the show. Hopefully they'll rectify this on the "Monster" tour.

Place was packed, btw.

Yes Sir! Can't wait to see the boys again in Charlotte! The stage looks awesome! I am disappointed in the set list though. Oh well, it is what it is. If you don't like it....stay home!

Did Eric & Tommy do their solos? I've been wanting to see them do that.

Yeah, they did. Same thing as last year, basically, but very well done. Eric pulled out the bazooka.

Nice. 8)

I was going to say if they didn't do it then take Shock Me out and throw us diehards another bone. You said War Machine went over well, let's hope that crowd response make Paul & Gene throw in some deeper cuts into the show.

THANKS for the review Diss

75 minutes ? That's bullshit. They've billed this as 90 minutes each band and if anything needs cutting, the opener should be dropped where Crue/KISS have time for their full 3 hours.

Motley played a longer set than KIss?

Hopefully that gets fixed pronto....

I agree, that is bullshit. There is absolutely no excuse for having the main headliner play a shorter set than the co-headliner.
