Take the tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I'm not even a race fan, but it's sooooo cool to get caught up in. Just an awesome vibe. Great zoo. The downtown area is hopping. If you're staying downtown I recommend just going out on foot and hitting the local scene until you find something you dig. It's a shame this show isn't at the downtown arena because there is so much there to do. There isn't much at all in Noblesville, although Indy crowds know how to rock and the staff at Klipsch are AWESOME to rock/metal crowds. Very professional.

There is no way this is cancelled. It has not even started raining here and if it rains its supposed to clear up for awhile tonight. Don't know where you are hearing this...but nothing on ticketmaster, any local news channels, or local radio shows.

Holy shit, what can I say? This show was absolutely insane. An unbelievably great crowd. Motley slayed and KISS even slightly more so. With no exaggeration, this was the best KISS show I've seen since the reunion tour. Paul also sounded quite a bit better than last night. What a great way for me to close out my run of shows on The Tour. Can't wait till we get another run next year.

KISS forever!!!

P.S.- the encore was Cold Gin

He's just being Trolly McTrollington, because he knows there's no legitimate argument to make to support that "point". That's all. If someone were to say Paul's voice is nowhere near what it was, fine. THAT can easily be argued. But the whole "band is doomed" thing is so clueless and lacking in fact that it says a lot about those who keep spewing it. And that's why I'm just going to keep reminding those people that they are wrong. I enjoy pointing it out again and again.

Good one. Now THAT would be a whimper. But then again, you'd have to be going strong in the first place in order to fall to a whimper.

But , but , but..........let it go.

The same ones have predicted failure for every tour since 08. Now they've changed their story to 2013 will fail because they've over saturated the market. Don't believe this, do a post search. The same ones were saying the same exact thing about every tour since 08.Once that tour got under way and succeeded, they justify why that particular your is doing as well as it is and predict failure for the next tour. The thing is ,one day they'll be right. The KISS ride will not last forever.

Just like a certain member would be back with a phone call  Now that's changed to a few final shows for the money. The stories keep changing ,the posters don't.

Anyway enough with the fun, glad to see The TOUR doing so well. KISS 1973-2012 so far.

Everyone on this board loves something about this band, so we all can just concentrate on the parts we like.

Anomaly predicted KISS would not do as well as Van Halen, who averaged 9,000 per night on their shortened tour.

Excuses soon to come :)

To be fair, while VH did average about 9,000 , and the album hasn't reached Gold status yet, it's just a sign of the times. That's how it's works in 2012, except for a very very few old bands. Also being fair, every canceled VH date was an add on date that promoters and managers were trying to push on them because other acts were not even selling as well as VH. They completed their original scheduled dates before cancelling. But KISS does find away to keep on going.

When it comes to the band in a live setting they're not exactly bringing it anymore. If you've got the other two guys not named Paul and Gene carrying the show over the guys who have been there for years I say you've got a problem going on.
He's just being Trolly McTrollington, because he knows there's no legitimate argument to make to support that "point". That's all. Of course there's a legitimate point, whether you agree with it or not is a problem. Besides, please show me where I said the band is doomed. Go ahead.

Facts = Excuses? Well then you've pretty much confirmed yourself as a useless debater then.

- Let's see, KISS played in amphitheaters where they can sell half of if not over half out on the lawn for around $35.
- Van Halen played in arenas with expensive ticket prices.

- KISS had to resort to getting a co-headliner in order to sell tickets.
- Who was the co-headliner that Van Halen brought out? Oh wait that's right they didn't.

Van Halen's new record has only been out for six and a half months and it's sales already eclipsed that of Sonic Boom who had a major retailer pushing it. Van Halen sold 188,000 copies in their first week...KISS sold 108,000. So thus far, Van Halen's doing better in that department.

Now don't dispute this argument...otherwise you're just making excuses.

You can't call what Wal-Mart did for Sonic Boom a push. Plus, didn't Amazon have Van Halen's album on sale for $1 for a download for awhile? I'm pretty sure that's how I bought it and it was the only reason I bought it.

They ran it at several different prices $1-$5 as they have with all the recent classic rock releases. Rush's new one is at $5 right now .

If KISS and Universal were smart , they'd have the Monster download priced at $3-$5 the week of release.

That's not even how they sold half.

How I'm viewing Monster is that given how Sonic Boom and HoH was (to my ears) I'm only planning on downloading the tracks I like at .99 cents a piece. If I like 3-5 of the tracks I'll buy the discounted record. Value for my money.

EDIT: Holy shit...WHY DON'T MORE BANDS DO THIS!?!?!?

So far the after months of VH threads where some stated that they'd bury KISS, you now resort to making excuses. I spit coffee every where when you compared KISS having a major retailer pushing Sonic Boom to VH having a MAJOR label making sure this album was everywhere it could be on release day after hyping it for months. That's funny, I don't care who you are.

No VH did not take another major artist out with them. Only after they got out on the road did they figure out that the the newness of the Reunion with Dave had worn off and now a lot of the casuals were no longer showing up.They'll package it better next time.

As far as the ticket prices ? Didn't Nib post just last week that The TOUR tickets were still averaging around $100 ?

You can't call what Wal-Mart did for Sonic Boom a push. Plus, didn't Amazon have Van Halen's album on sale for $1 for a download for awhile? I'm pretty sure that's how I bought it and it was the only reason I bought it.
They ran it at several different prices $1-$5 as they have with all the recent classic rock releases. Rush's new one is at $5 right now .

If KISS and Universal were smart , they'd have the Monster download priced at $3-$5 the week of release.
If they did that I just might buy it.
Call me an idiot, but I think they should sell all downloads for half the price they sell the actual physical product.

They've already buried their previous record and Sonic Boom had a two and a half year headstart.
No VH did not take another major artist out with them. Only after they got out on the road did they figure out that the the newness of the Reunion with Dave had worn off and now a lot of the casuals were no longer showing up.They'll package it better next time.
So if a 9000ish average attendance for Van Halen equates to the 'newness' of the Reunion wore off then what does the 9500ish average attendance for the North American Alive 35 tour suggest? That KISS really weren't ready to come back yet?
As far as the ticket prices ? Didn't Nib post just last week that The TOUR tickets were still averaging around $100 ?
Considering they're packing the lawn at $35 a ticket there's another reason why the ticket sales are booming. Put the bands in identical venues and we'd see how they'd really do compared to each other.
Call me an idiot, but I think they should sell all downloads for half the price they sell the actual physical product.
EDIT: Not a bad idea at all, personally I'd offer the physical products for less so you can promote the idea of actually having a physical copy of the music in your hand and for new music fans to become immersed in the packaging.

Granted it's a small test market, BUT...with the information available the average ticket price for The Tour is $111.00 at the moment.

A hundred thousand cd's sold at $10 would cover all the overhead, selling the downloads at minimum of what would still get counted by Billboard(they change the rules all the time)would be all profit and "pad" the numbers.

It's hard to compare but surely, Anomaly, you must admit that the first new Van Halen album with DLR and the tour that follows should have been expected to be much more popular than Kiss touring for the 5th straight year regardless of whether it's sheds or amphiteaters. While lawn seats are cheap, most of the rest arene't that expensive. While Kiss does have Crue on Tour, what about the previous 4 years of touring where they pulled minor acts with them and did good numbers - quite comparable to the VH numbers if I recall.

As far as album sales, surely outselling Sonic Boom is nothing to brag about or even compare. Van Halen traditionally had great radio support and sold a ton more albums than Kiss through the 80's. The sales of the new album can only be considered disappointing. Did it even reach gold status? None of Kiss's recent records sold well (PC, Revenge, COS or HITS). Some here were bragging about the "smart" way the album was being marketed, and they had major label support. I think it's a great record in places, but it really seemed to fade quickly.

I saw VH and thought it was a great show - but even Toronto, which historically support these bands and almost always sells out/or comes close to selling out for Kiss, had lots of empty seats at the VH show.

The comment that some people here have been predicting lousy numbers for Kiss have been wrong now since 2008 is true. Sooner or later they'll have to right and then they'll get say "I told you so". Van Halen is so much bigger than Kiss, I guess I just expected better results for them.

VAN HALEN?
Album is ass . DLR looks a fool with his stupid grin and a headset mic . And regardless of MEDICAL ISSUES ...They can't keep it together long enuff to even make it NOSTALGIC FUN. I like to remember Van Halens first 4-5 albums and call it good. The rest is embarassing.
oh...and Anomally's OPINION now means "0" to me as most here would agree.

Of course there's a legitimate point, whether you agree with it or not is a problem. Besides, please show me where I said the band is doomed. Go ahead.
Anomaly predicted KISS would not do as well as Van Halen, who averaged 9,000 per night on their shortened tour.

Excuses soon to come

Ok...so to get back on the topic of the show last night....

Got the venue a little early and was just hanging out meeting some of the fans around me and talking with security guards for a bit. They showed me the lists for the night after I could explain what the water cannons were for on the stage :D

They delayed the start of the show for about 20 mins, but the weather never really hit the concert area.

The Treatment were better than I thought they would be. Did not know any of their songs...but sounded really good.

Motley - Holy lord...they were WAY better than I thought they were gonna be. I have not seen them since 94 so was really looking forward to it. They kicked MAJOR ass. Nice to see a show I have not seen in awhile.

KISS - Just as solid as could be, rocked all night long. Was bang, bang, one song right after another. Not to much talking from Paul. Here is the set list from last night.
Detroit Rock City
Shout It Out Loud
I Love It Loud
Firehouse
Hell or Hallelujah
War Machine
Shock Me
God of Thunder
Love Gun
Lick It Up
Black Diamond
Cold Gin
Rock and Roll All Nite

Cool. Thanks for sharing. My son like The Treatment so much when we saw them on Aug 29th that he bought the cd after the show.

it was a good show. We were up front in Sec C. Drove in a pretty heavy rain from downtown Indy to get to the arena. Parking was easy and free. Getting in was a log jam, but we cut in front got our tix at will call and finally got in. Missed The Treatment. Got there just in time to see the crue, who were pretty cool. My first time to see them since Dr. Feelgood tour. I have a new found respect for Mick Mars. A lot of folks were saying Vince was using a tape. I don't believe it to be true. In fact, I thought his voice was better than I was expecting. Amazing how quick they got Crues stage down and KISS's up. 20-25 min. KISS had some problems with their video screen. The upper half went black a few times during the show, including the opener. $ocks was more animated and mobile in recent memory. Paul I would say is about half the singer he used to be. He can't do Love Gun. He doesn't do background on Shock Me anymore. He seemed to be enjoying himself. He flubbed the lyrics to Lick It Up. The bazooka bit is completely hokey and should be dropped. Other than that my 46th KISS concert was a good time. Decent production. Nothing new or earthshattering, but solid performance.

Downtown Indy is a nice area. Very clean, but there were an unusually high number of intoxicated people Sat/Sun night. Ate at The Oceanairre, Weber Grill, and drank at The Slippery Noodle and Clandagh.
