I'll go out on a limb and say that it will be a Gene song that we haven't heard yet.

"Let Me Go Rock n Roll"

But if they stay to pattern, it will be "Strutter".

When they threw "Calling Dr. Love" into the mix Friday night after having thrown "Do You Love Me" into the mix: the pattern went out the window. Not that "Calling Dr. Love" is some rarely played gem, but the whole pattern concept was kinda thrown out the window.

I hope they throw a different song into the encore slot that catches you off guard! Just make sure to take a video if that's the case :D

Looks about 80% to 85% full now, with the vast, vast majority of seats that are left in the upper deck (cheap seats).

It gets 18,500 for concerts using the full arena. My guess it that they already have 15K to 16K sold, based on the Livenation charts. KISS and Crue have been doing well with walkups this tour. So, I'm guessing that a sellout is likely. Regardless, it should be loud.

I was very, very, surprised that KISS/Motley didn't have enough walk ups to sell out Riverbend Friday. I thought it being a Friday night on a holiday weekend made it a slam dunk, but I think the whole Friday night on a holiday weekend may not have helped. A lot of people didn't want to mess with traffic and drive out to Riverbend when there was a zillion things to do for FREE downtown. It was Riverfest Weekend. If Riverbend were within walking distance of downtown or if KISS had played the downtown arena it may have been different.

Didn't they do it at one of the Aussie shows in 2004?

If they really threw us a loop, I don't think that we could deal with it....

Encore was Calling Dr. Love.

Gene's rig didn't move forward after he got up there for an awkward few seconds, he looked like he was kicking and trying to reach the mic stand.

for the encore Paul said they were going to play something from Love Gun..... and I allowed myself to get excited and think they might bust out I Stole Your Love.... but nope, it was just Paul forgetting which album Calling Dr. Love is on again.... LOL.... the Rock And Roll Over sessions and the Love Gun sessions must have been very similar, Paul can't seem to separate them in his mind....

anyhow, as far as the rest of the show....... in no particular order, i'll just throw my thoughts out as they come to me....

I thought the band was tighter in Atlanta and I thought the background vocals were A LOT better in Atlanta.

Paul's voice had a couple of embarrassing cracks here and there, but for the most part was pretty strong.... Love Gun was probably the best vocal performance of that song I've heard in a long time....

Motley Crue's show comes off WAY better in a darkened arena than it does outdoors while it's still light outside. I enjoyed their show WAY more than I did in Atlanta. Vince was singing better as well. I also think Motley had a better sound mix. It took KISS' sound guy a good 3 songs to get the mix dialed in. Detroit Rock City was a muddy mess and Shout It Out Loud wasn't much better...both still got a great crowd reaction and it's a great 1-2 punch, but some of the power and energy was lost in a bad mix. Even after the sound guy seemed to get it together, Paul's vocals were too low in the mix and Eric's were way too loud in the mix. Whenever Gene and Paul were both singing, Gene was noticeably louder and you could really only hear Gene not that awesome blend of Paul and Gene's voices that is such a signature of the KISS sound (this was especially noticeable in Firehouse). Eric was also going a little overboard with his backing vocals, but maybe it just seemed that way because he was so loud in the mix.

I think KISS got the louder crowd response overall... although I think the order they had the setlist earlier in the tour flowed a bit better.... Hell Or Hallelujah and War Machine back to back are probably the two least known songs in the set. Though they both got a good response at the end of each song, during the song the crowd was a bit more subdued, and having both of those songs together created a slight energy lull in the set that they had to regain. Then you have Gene's solo spot right after the Eric/Tommy solo bit. I guess that gives Paul a nice long mid-set break, but it was kind of funny that he ran out on stage for the last note of Shock Me after the Tommy/Eric jam, and then ran right back off stage.

Gene was makin some goofy faces during the blood spot. It was pretty funny. Gene did get stuck over his platform just sort of hanging there for a good 20-30 seconds (it seemed like), and looked pretty pissed as he kept vehemently pointing down like "put me the fuck down! NOW!" Nice Spinal Tap moment....

God Of Thunder suffered from Paul not singing backing vocals and Eric overdoing it a bit on the backing vocals.

Lick It Up probably got the best crowd reaction of the night aside from RARAN. Crowd lost their minds during LIU, and Paul was feelin it, he was down on his knees and screamed "hallelujah!" at the end of the song.

I let myself think that maybe, just maybe, since they were in Nashville, that somehow Hard Luck Woman might get played, maybe as the encore song. Yeah, right... lol I was kinda hoping for Deuce and when Paul said "well since the show is almost at the ending let's go back to the beginning of the band", I thought, okay Deuce or Strutter but then he threw the curveball and said "here's something from Love Gun" lol.... not quite the beginning there Paul!! .... damn, I Stole Your Love would have been so awesome as an encore song..... it was interesting hearing Calling Dr. Love in what would be considered an odd place for it in the set, historically... really I think Deuce works best as an encore, but still think it's pretty cool that they've actually got a rotating song in the setlist. Just that one rotating song keeps it interesting to follow the tour and check all the setlists....

It was nice that there was no prolonged crowd participation bit with the decibel meter before Love Gun this time. I definitely didn't miss that.

So, while I think the Atlanta show was a better performance all around, it was still a great show, despite all of my criticisms mentioned above... The arena was packed to the rafters and the crowd was loud and into the show. I got my KISS buzz on and I got to eat at White Castle afterwards (we don't have those in Atlanta...) though I'm probably going to regret that in the morning.

I audio recorded the show and it will be available at all the usual places where you find KISS live audio recordings probably by the end of the week. I'd do it tonite, but I'm in a hotel room and forgot to bring my headphones with me, and I can't master this thing on laptop speakers... lol.... just very happy that I'm not driving the 4 hours home tonite. No thanks!! LOL

DAMN a packed arena , and I thought they had been relegated to playing shitty amphitheaters with co headliner because they couldn't sell  Once again someone with the "RED" ass doesn't know what they're talking about .

It looked to me like the platform that they enter on didn't come down properly. It looked like the it tilted backwards. We were on Genes side o he stage and he was chewing some poor guy out in between songs. He got suspended in front of his platform for God Of Thunder and when Paul flew back to the stage at the end of Love Gun, they appeared to have brought him back a little too fast and it looked like he almost fell coming in. Great show but they did have a few technical issues but with a show like theirs it's bound to happen. Awesome night. The Crüe was great but I thought KISS was the band of the night and the crowd seemed to feel that way too. Just an observation, it amazes me how you could hear people collectively sitting down when Paul said they were doing a new song. HoH sounded awesome and Paul was in the best vocal shape that I've heard him in in some time. It may have been out of frustration and anger but I thought Gene was more "demon" last night than I've seen him in years. Great show and the best I've seen with this lineup.

Reviews are spot on. I agree with Paul's vocals sounding WAY better than I expected them to. However, he is still doing all the howling and screaming in between a few songs.

No thanks!! LOL[/quote]

wIth all due respect, Paul's best vocal performance of Love Gun in a long time???? i was at the show Saturday and he can't do the song much justice anymore.
Thanks for your review though.

it was at least the best I've heard him sing it since 04.

This was my friends message to me who went to the Nashville show:

Great to see kiss the other night... They were not at their best either. Paul's voice is not the same these days and he said that Dr love was from the love gun album. Plus I think the stage show is a little too familiar. Glad I went though - haven't seen them in years. Crue was good but the music was too loud compared to the vocals.

listening back to the recording, they played better than I thought. I think I was distracted with the vocal mix which wasn't as noticeable on the recording.

Great show, either way.... LOL

From the look of the consistently huge crowds, it looks like this tour is a big success.
