Just got home. Was down in fun section Paul's side. We could feel and smell pyro. The quickened pacing made it wicked awesome! I love Paul but the usual long winded raps were not missed. The just kept punching us with music, lights, video, fire, fireworks, and bombs. One of the more exciting shows I've seen them do. It reminded me of the great shows from the Aero tour where the time limit forces them to keep playing. I loved it! Got To Choose was a nice surprise and I always love being drowned in confetti.

Re: "The Tour" Show 37: 9/16/12 - Mansfield, MA
Just got home. KISS were really good. Much too short. But one good thing was less yapping from Paul.
Purchased general admission tickets (standing lawn). The standing lawn section was closed off. Sat in decent seats (lawn seats). Good sound and view. Actually felt the pyro on one song (LIU, I think).
I'll guess the crowd was between 10,000 and 12,000. Under the roof was packed. Decent, but not packed, on the lawn seats. The crowd was into both bands, but it's simply another atmosphere when KISS was on stage.
F.U.N. That's the difference. And the fact that KISS is a much better band
with a much better catalog. KISS' set flew by. That other band's set dragged and dragged. 75 minutes too long.
As mentioned "Got To Choose" was the surprise.
"HOH" sounded great live.
Paul sounded good. Actually all the vocals and backgrounds sounded good.
Brought two new victims to the show. Both liked the show.
The star of the show ...
That should be stars. Eric and Tommy. Both played really great. Tommy sounded really good.
Wasn't going to mention that other band, but I will mention the fact that it was 50 degrees out and that ahole band was dousing the audience. The ahole bass player spitting a drink on the audience and spitting in the bucket of water which was used to douse the audience was completely shit. Absolutely f*cking hate that shit band. It doesn't matter how much you put into a stage production. A shit band is a shit band. The production will never change that. That's enough about them.
After seeing Maiden in June all I have to say is that their sound people need to be fired. It was Maiden, not the venue. I was in the same general area for their show and tonight's show.
No band does a grand finale like KISS.
Got my KISS fix. Can't wait for "Monster" and the tour.

Yeah, that was cool because it was unexpected, at least by me. I have to say the show was awesome. I never once thought about how old they are, I never once thought about how tired I was of a certain song or two, I never cared about two guys not being original members, all I cared about was feeling 12 again. LOL I felt transported back in time to blasting Alive II in the headphones and closing my eyes and "watching" the imaginary KISS show in my head. Magic!
Oh, and thankfully my friend Matt doesn't care of M.C. either but we did venture in to the pavillion for just a few minutes while the singer was talking about his broken foot. I think he said "fuck" like two or three times just in that minute alone. LOL We went back out and walked around talking and watching other people waiting for KISS. That was a lot of fun.

KISS with the Mansfield crowd at last night's show!
The seating capacity is approximately 19,900. Approximately 7,000 are covered seats in the pavilion, 7,000 are open-air seats, and general admission is on the lawn

Good show.
Got to Choose was the highlight of the night b/c it was unexpected.
One thing I wonder re Paul's voice ...
Given that it is in rough shape these days, why continue to do all the screaming in the between-song raps? You know, how he sing/screams when he's pumping up the crowd.
For one thing, it can't be helping his voice any to do that. But for another thing, it calls attention to the fact that he can't really do those particular screams any more. Save it for the songs!
From a crowd size point of view ... not a big enough crowd to have any people standing in the lawn section. That was kind of disappointing. When I was at same venue for Iron Maiden earlier in year the lawn/standing area was about a third full. So it looks like Maiden/Alice Cooper outdrew Kiss/Motley Crue.
Another crowd note ... I saw a lot more KISS shirts in the crowd than Crue shirts. 3-to-1 ratio at least. Found that encouraging since, let's face it, in the 80s, the reverse would have been true.

Had a real great time. Paul's voice was shot I don't know why he screams like he does. It sounds painful. Crue were ok there sound was horrible, all bass no highs just real muddy. the highlight of their set was Tommy Lees drum solo that was really cool. Kiss were simply awesome Eric and Tommy were terrific (I'm still an Ace and Peter fan) but they were better than I expected, They really enjoy what they do and they were all having fun on stage. Awesome set list War Machine was a highlight for me as was Black Diamond and Got to choose! the other thing I noticed was they tuned down so everything was sung in a lower key most of it they pulled off though. my only disappointment Lick it Up I hate that F!@KIN' song!

RE: crowd size
Yes, Maiden had a bit more. The ticket prices for the lawn seats for the KISS show were $70 something and $90 something before fees. Ridiculous.
These same seats for Maiden were much cheaper. At Maiden's show sections 10 through 14 were pretty much filled. At Maiden's and KISS' shows sections 9 and 15 were never put on sale. At the Maiden show there weren't that many people in general admission (where I was). I will guess KISS sold a good deal of general admission tickets. Ticketmaster disabled seat selection for the KISS show a month to 2 months ago. The last time I had checked there were still a lot of lawn seats available in sections 10, 11, 13, and 14.
The other thing is Maiden played the first week of summer. KISS played the last week of summer. 50 degree weather isn't going to bring out people who are on the fence about going to the show. So walk up tickets were probably off for this show.
My guess on KISS' crowd size is 10,000 to 12,000. Bruce Dickinson stated that there were 14,000 there in June, but the actual reported number was lower.

I was there as well and i must admit i was pleasantly surprised. Got my ticket from a guy with an extra right out in the lot and was below face too,but anyway. I liked the fact that Paul kept his banter pretty much low key and GTC was def a nice surprise! Also i have to confirm the previous poster had said about the 3 to 1 ratio of KISS fans over MC...it was at least that! Glad i went!
