If they were going to change anything, this would be the night. That's why I pre-ordered Oshawa. Fool me once.......Spirit wrote:Exactly why is anyone surprised?
This had the perfect set-up. Winning the vote, the public backlash, saying there was something special planned, no opener, the night after the album is released.
It shouldn't shock you to find out that many of us expected at least 2 new songs.
They may wait until NYC to do it, but that's a kick in the pants for Oshawa.
Maybe the people at the show loved the show, but I'm certainly not happy right now. I just wasted $35. On top of that, I know there are people there who expected more.

Last year, I saw Metallica, AC/DC, and Madonna, all played at least 5 trax off of their new albums, all were big sellers. I think Madonna played 9 new trax. It's beyond ridiculous that KISS are only playing one song off of SB.
I was pretty unhappy when Crue were only doing 2 songs from SOLA last year but after KISS doing one, I'm not so annoyed with Crue. I really thought Oshawa would get something special.
I'm starting to regret buying a ticket for the Seattle show, I could be just fine seeing just the Vancouver show. I really don't understand why they do things like this.
Well I guess I should Enjoy this before they retire

Commercial - Are you ready for the hottest band in the world? Get ready for the new KISS tour "Still Alive!". Twenty of the same songs YOU get sick of hearing, including: Love Gun, Lick It Up, Detroit Rock City, and of course, Rock And Roll All Nite. So if your wanting new music, forget about it. I STILL HOPE THEY INCLUDE MORE TUNES OF THE NEW ALBUM IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DATES....I'D SAY THAT IF THEY DON'T IN A WEEK OR SO, WE SHOULDN'T BE EXPECTING ANY CHANGES FOR THE REST OF THIS LEG

I just don't get it. Within the last four years I've seen plenty of bands with new releases including Judas Priest, Meat Loaf, WASP, and more. They've all played a variety of tracks off their new releases...I don't know why KISS continues to stick to the same old tired routine. Gene and Paul constantly say "this lineup can play anything, blah blah." Another soundbyte I'm sure. Is KISS simply just lazy these days when it comes to the setlist? I know they cater to the "casual fan" but songs like Forever and Tears Are Falling were pretty big mainstream amongst others. Any change would be a welcomed change at this point!

Yes, tonight would have been a good night to shake things up with some new Sonic Boom stuff, but I think they still have thru the weekend to hold off on it. Even if this is the first show after the album's release, not everyone ran out the first day and bought it and/or knows all the songs yet. After KISS see the numbers for the week and know they just moved well over 100,000 copies, it should be enough to influence them to add some SB songs to the set.

I was really hoping to see some more new songs at MSG in NYC this Saturday, it's going to really suck to see the same set list now that the new album is released. It also seems like the show is getting shorter each week, but why are they dropping Gene songs (Cold Gin, LMGRAR) with Paul's current voice problems? Also, The show last Saturday at Uncasville was only 2 hours long - so much for the "full 2 1/2 hour show".

I grabbed a copy of the written set list of the stage after the show was over and it actually indicated that they intended to play Watching You but that never made it in the show. The sheet also indicated that the 4 song encore was the intention all along.
They rose from the stage to start the show. Paul didn't sing any of the chorus during Love Gun. This show was verbatim the exact same show as Toronto last Friday, except they replaced the word Toronto in sentences with the word Oshawa, and cut a couple of songs.
My 13 year old became disenchanted with Kiss fans tonight. He was up on his feet all night, singing, air drumming and air guitaring every single lyric while the crowd mostly sat on their hands. That is of course til RARAN, when they all cheer like lifelong fans. It pizzed him off. I decided to don the Wizard make up for the show as I had never seen anyone do it before. I'd never dressed up for a show either but my son couldn't believe all the people asking us who we were? (he was the Fox).
"Daddy, if these people don't know who we are, then why are they here? He asked. He learned tonight that are here to see Kiss play Rock N Roll All Nite. Unfortunately it's true, while people like him and I and many here (I would assume) would like to never here it again in our lifetimes.
My son also commented how slow the tempo was tonight, especially DRC.

Yet, we often hear the excuse that a stale setlist during the reunion era was because of Ace & Peter. We have heard that excuse from fans, Paul, Gene, & Tommy.UNHOLYRevenge wrote: I just don't get it. Well, I think we all should know that there is very little truth to that. It's Paul & Gene's show, and whatever the set is or isn't is because of Gene & Paul.
But regardless of that, I'm sure the people of Oshwa got a very good show and enjoyed it despite the lack of new material.

They really wasted a golden opportunity here to do something special.
Oshawa wins the North American voting and they make it the first show after the release of the new album which they've been promoting as the best they've relased in 30 years, Walmart exclusive, blah, blah, blah and this is what they do...nothing. With Singer and Thayer in the band now, they have the ability to change the setlist on a dime.
They should've played the whole SB album and then done an encore of the hits. For subsequent dates, make the proper adjustments and keep at least 3 new songs in the set now that SB is out.
I saw Iron Maiden's A Matter of Life and Death tour where they played this album, in order, in its entirety with an encore of hits. It was frickin' awesome! With SB this good, they need to promote it or it'll go #1 next week and then fall off into oblivion.

That might actually be a good point if I had mentioned any of those songs. I said the set was not stagnant because of Ace or Peter. That is true because they could have added different Ace & Peter era songs.destroyer65 wrote:You're delusional if you think Peter was ever going to be able to playRisingForce wrote: Yet, we often hear the excuse that a stale setlist during the reunion era was because of Ace & Peter. The AMOLAD show I saw was in Detroit and the crowd ate it up for the most part. I'm sure there were some people that were pissed off because they wanted to hear the same old songs once again. I've seen Maiden 6 times and was looking forward to this because the album was so good.
Overall, this was such a ballsy move by Maiden and they didn't care what anyone else thought. Not only did they perform an album in its entirety (this was before everyone started doing this), they actually performed an entire NEW album. I commend them for doing it. I thought it was a great show.
