Those who will be attending, let us know how the show was and also if any of the Westboro wingnuts show up (and what happens). They do have a habit of not showing --I don't really expect much of anything to happen.

If they do, I'll personally flip each one of them off and tell them to go to hell.MsStarchild wrote:Those who will be attending, let us know how the show was and also if any of the Westboro wingnuts show up (and what happens). On a lighter note, MAIN FLOOR RISERS! I ordered mine on my junior Prom day!

12th row. I have an extra ticket if anyone wants it. I'll even go below face because...well, because I'm awesome. PM or what not if interested.
ANYWHO...looking foward to it, even if the set list isn't anything new. OH, except DO YOU LOVE ME which I haven't heard since the FAREWELL TOUR.
I super excited oddly enough. And it's like my 16th show and not supporting any new anything. It's been almost a year since I saw them last though.

Seems to be an epidemic. I'll be honest...my wife borderline HATES KISS and I go to most shows alone. HOWEVER, buying a single ticket outside of ticketmaster is almost impossible for good seats.
Kind of tired of sitting on the TOMMY side though.
Just a list...Including the upcoming show...
Hot in the Shade - Peoria
Revenge - Chicago
Blaze Fest - Chicago
Reunion - Chicago
Reunion - Chicago
Renuion - Chicago-Second Leg
Lost Cities - Peoria
Farewell - Peoria
Rock the Nation - Chicago
Summerfest - Milwaukee
Sonic Boom - Chicago
HSOE - Indianapolis
HSOE - Chicago
HSOE - Springfield

I purposely got nosebleeds for this one. I've seen Kiss from the front row a few times, and it's a blast. I've seen all the Kiss shows at PCCC. For this one, I just want to sit back, relax and WATCH the concert, instead of standing the whole time, pumping my fist in the air and dealing with all the shoving and jockeying for position down in the front. I hope everyone has a great time!

Re: Summer '11 Show 15: 7/18/11 - Springfield, IL
Bad City (the opening act) was dreadful.
It seemed like three hours between Bad City and Kiss.
It was 250 degrees inside the convention center.
Kiss was very good. I still don't get the setlist. My wife recognized two songs (Dr. Love and Detroit). We left before the encore to beat the traffic.
Someone needs to tell Tommy the song is Shock ME (with a long "e"), not Shock MAY.
Gene just beat the living crap out of the lyrics to I Love It Loud. He started with the last verse and was just all over the place.
Someone was holding up a sign that read, "Marry Shannon."
Overall, a good show. I guess it's just not the same magical experience that it was when I was 17.

Re: Summer '11 Show 15: 7/18/11 - Springfield, IL
Fantastic show, lyrical flubs in "Say Yeah" and "I Love It Loud" but it wasn't noticed by majority of the crowd. Stage looks cool as hell in person, I avoided youtube clips (kinda) so it was new. The setlist was what I expected minus the exclusion of "100,000 Years." Everybody was in top form playing and singing wise, Paul sounded a bit rough introducing "Firehouse" but when it came to the song (which is what matters) he was great. Also no flying for Gene, just blood.
Oh and I did see a small group of the Westboro Church people, seemed to be mostly teenagers with the usual good reading signs such as "God hates fags" and "God hates Israel" but I stopped paying attention to them after a car slammed into another one as I headed into the arena.
Great show...it's KISS so of course you already knew that.

Awesome show tonight!! I just git back home. I went with both of my parents who are kiss fans from 1974, and a friend of mine came along. I even got Gene Simmons' actual set list from the show with some stage blood on it. I went down on the floor 6 rows from the stage for the encores. Security was weak at this concert I will say.

Re: Summer '11 Show 15: 7/18/11 - Springfield, IL
Good show. I had a decent time.
The arena was bigger than I thought but still not huge. Looked super full. Maybe not sold out but full.
Loud as shit though.
Bad City was so terrible it literally almost ruined the rest of the show for me. By the time they left the stage I was bored and tired. I'm not kidding.
It was brutal and they played what seemed like forever. The wife and I got some good laughs making fun of them though.
KISS.
Few things.
As stated before...lyric flubs in I LOVE IT LOUD were bad. Butchered that thing to shit. Say Yeah wasn't as bad...but noone knew the song anyway...so it was ok.
Crowd was drunk and rowdy...which was fine. Security was non existant. Had I been alone I would have been up to the stage by the encores. Easily.
Paul sounded no better or worse than before. He sings NO background vocals at all. And let's the band handle most of the choruses on his songs.
As usual they were tight and played well. Eric looked a little bored a few times. LOL. Paul's banter was way tolerable and no USA stuff which was a nice change.
No sing along in RNRAN which I thought was odd. They just blew through the song and ended the show.
Just another KISS show for the books. HOPEFULLY if they tour behind the new album between MDD and possibley SAY YEAH and songs from the new album the setlist won't be
so stale. It's fine. And DO YOU LOVE ME was a great addition. The crowd loved both DYLM and GOT. Much better than I'm AN ANIMAL that's for sure.
Good stuff. When I get my pics uploaded I'll share some.
I had a great time. Saw my favorite band. That was good enough for me.

You rip the show from top to bottom, complain about the opening band, bitch about the time between bands, complain about the setlist, and leave before the encore, but say it was a good show?

Had an amazing time. I was sitting third row on genes side. I dressed as gene in Dressed to Kill. I caught two picks from Gene and one from Paul.
I love it loud was butchered so bad Paul just laughed and shook his head.
I think Gene had someone threw out as he left the stage during Tommy and Erics jam but no idea why. He came out on the floor by the railing pointed at someone and they were gone.
Great show they still deliver a punch.

I would say 30-40 people asked. We stayed at the Hilton and they had a block party before so there were tons of people outside. We got lots of pics with us and random people and one of us on the Springfield paper website. It was a great night.

I didn't care for BAD CITY either. They were too damn loud!! There's something wrong when Kiss is the quieter of the two bands. BAD CITY'S lead singer drove me up a wall as well.

Also I've mulled it over and decided the rocket launcher at the end of the solo is simply a cheesy idea. Singer looked a bit embarressed employing the 'device'. When he first held it up, I thought, "What...the....hell's that?....A....big.....BONG?"
One cool thing was Gene placing his boot on top of different security guy's heads during the show.
Also, if The Family Jewels bus was there, does that mean the Family was there also, or is the bus just a typical Gene advertisement?

"Great show..I took my 16 year old daughter..She was amazed at how entertaining they were...even though she didn't know any of the songs..except for Dr Love..and only because of a Dr Pepper commercial.
She commented to me later how all they do at rap shows is walk around the stage and sing rap songs...But these guys really impressed her...She was truly entertained and glad I made her go to the show! She even bought a tee shirt and poster! Good times!"
"The concert was GREAT...I've never been a huge Kiss fan but they totally won me over! It was a SHOW. I think the review was a bit negative, perhaps written by a non Kiss fan? But I'm a fan now. They gave me more than my monies worth!"
"The concert was truly an experience, a real SHOW of SHOWS, thank you KISS for rocking this town like it ain't been done in yearssssss! I have never seen KISS before but am an active concert goer and I have never seen anything like this show before. GREAT NIGHT, THANKS SO MUCH!!!"
"we visited a local pizza parlor last night for dinner as there was no desire to cook. Still feeling that concert after a loooong day at work, ya know? Several folks stopped in for carry out pie's and were commenting how great the KISS concert was, how raw their throats were from screaming / singing along & a bit hungover to boot as well"
Not bad, for a washed up band
