Yours truly will be in attendance. If anyone is going and would like to know where some good pre-show bars are, let me know.

It's a small place. I hope they can fit the entire stage show.
Reported audience: ? / 5,000
I believe it fits 5,000 for hockey games. Concerts are around 6,000. Elton John played there a few weeks ago, and the attendance was around 6,000.

I certainly will.

Today begins my KISS ritual. I'll watch portions of each KISSOLOGY throughout the day. Tonight, it's a "Best Of" compilation that will be played on warp ten (I make a "Best Of" for every show I attend).

Tomorrow, we'll be hanging out downtown around the arena by 1PM, taking it all in.

Doesn't get any better. 8)

Sheehan wants to Kiss up with band
By BRIAN KELLY, THE SAULT STAR

There could be an awkward moment if city councillor Terry Sheehan meets with Kiss on Tuesday.

The Ward 2 councillor, representing the city of Sault Ste. Marie, plans to wear a white T-shirt featuring the community's logo and the heads of the four classic rockers.

Sheehan may present the quartet with city swag, but if Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer want their own Kiss/city shirts, they'll just have to make their own.

Sheehan only has one. "They'll have to put themselves on it," he said.

"It would be easy to modify, if they like, if they want to copy me."

If Sheehan meets with Kiss before a sold-out show at Essar Centre, his goal is pitching the city as a future host for an official gathering of the band's fans.

"This is obviously the area to hold a convention," he said.

"It just makes sense. (The city is) a natural converging point for Kiss Army fans. The Kiss forces are out there and they're all converging here on the Twin Saults."

The band played to nearly 10,000 at Kewadin Casino in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., in 2007.

Fans in the Canadian Sault pushed hard in an online competition, where the nearly 40-year-old group promised to play in communities that garnered the most votes.

The much-anticipated concert was supposed to happen in December 2009, but was postponed because of bad weather in Pittsburgh where the group played before the Sault date.

After months of waiting, Kiss announced in June its August date.

"They honoured their commitment. It's a major testament to their character," said Sheehan.

"They could have easily said, 'Oh, there's a snowstorm. We cancelled. We tried. Hey, you missed your leg (of the tour). Too bad. No. They went out of their way (and) rescheduled."

A presentation of a key to the city to the group would not only symbolize the community's thanks for honouring its concert commitment, but act as an invitation back to the Twin Saults. Michigan Sault city commissioner Ray Bauer offered a similar gift three years ago.

"The city is always open for their return," said Sheehan.

But he's close-lipped on what else he plans to present Kiss should he meet with them Tuesday. It will, said Sheehan, be memorable.

"We want to make sure that we leave them with something that they can remember the city by," he said.

"We do have a little surprise for them that we hope will make their stay in Sault Ste. Marie memorable."

Sheehan is not aware of a similar presentation being made to other musicians, including Tom Cochrane, Bob Dylan, Heaven and Hell and Backstreet Boys who have played Essar Centre since it opened in 2006.

Some artists aren't interested, he said. Others, like Elton John, arrive shortly before a show and leave the city shortly after their final bows.

"We have to always be kind of ready to move," said Sheehan.

"When the opportunities are there, then we pounce on them."

The Ward 2 councillor plans to attend Kiss fan gatherings at Foggy Notions and RockStarBar before and after the concert.

Sheehan, who still has a copy of the band'sDetroit Rock Cityalbum and a 45 of their biggest hit,Beth,is still deciding if he'll don face paint to resemble bassist Gene Simmons.

Time for this Phantom to shut the computer down, and head to the Land of Hype and Glory (aka: a Kiss concert).

I'll try to stay sober enough to remember all the details...fuck that, I can't make a promise I cannot keep.

Anyway, off we go. Spirit, while I'm watching the show I'll keep in mind you told me this show would never happen.

I wanted the best, I'm getting the best

Your ability to read a masturbatory reference into someone saying "I'll remember what you said" is illuminating, yet disturbing.

Review + pics

http://www.soonews.ca/viewarticle.php?id=27320

Despite having to wait almost a year for them to show up, local rock fans got to see the legendary band KISS live in concert at the Essar Centre on Tuesday night.

While it failed to surpass previous record crowds for Elton John and Neil Young, over 4,700 fans jammed the arena and cheered their way through the band's two hour set, which included hits such as Detroit Rock City and Shout It Out Loud.

The stage effects that the band is known for were in full force as well, with pyrotechnics blasting throughout the set, along with the well-known moments when bassist Gene Simmons breathed fire and spit blood.

It wasn't just all the classic hits that KISS preformed, as they also played a few numbers from their latest record, 2009's Sonic Boom. In fact, the band opened with Modern Day Delilah, the lead single and track on the album.

KISS were joined on the stage by Toronto rock band The Envy, and local metal group Garden Of Bedlam, who won a Battle of the Bands contest late in 2009.

With a more poppier side to their music, it was safe to say that The Envy was a bit out of place to be at a KISS concert. However, despite the differences, the audience seemed to enjoy their set, giving them a nice round of applause.

While many in attendance may not have been familiar with them before they hit the stage, it's safe to say that many now know about Garden Of Bedlam following their half-hour performance.

After having to wait since last winter to play their biggest show to date, the quartet blasted their way through five songs that will appear on their first album, which is set to come out this fall.

No sir. I'm waiting on a new phone, and am using a replacement phone from 1945. A few friends have pics, and will send them to me shortly.

Most of those pics come from a local news site, while the bottom three come from a friend on another site.

No charity, as these tickets were purchased a year ago for the Alive 35 tour. This was a re-scheduled show.

Paul's voice was fine. I am posting a review now.

Nice.

My favourite recording that I've heard from the US Alive 35 tour is actually an audience recording from the Wachovia Center in Philly. Sometimes the board recordings bring out all the imperfections and don't really give the vibe of a KISS concert. An excellent audience recording can show a bit more blanace of the actual experience.

Thanks for sharing your recording. If you have anything else on youtube, let me know.
