Journey - Deen Castronovo And Marco Mendoza In The Band

Post by Grand Classic »

According to Neal Schon's Facebook Page - Deen Castronovo (drums) and Marco Mendoza (bass) are in Journey now.

There was no mention with what happened to Narada Michael Walden and Randy Jackson.

Interesting that Deen is back considering why he was fired.

Castronova was doing the Journey Through Time thing so I guess he is considered rehabilitated.

Castronovo is the best thing that can happen to them and Arnel.

Shame because Neal seemed pumped about the new lineup. Sad because the fans couldn’t even get 1 live show with the band that recorded the upcoming album.

Journey should get every current and former member and do a live show and release an album and video from it!

Would be cool if they then did a studio album all together!

Dean seems to always talk very highly of Eric Singer. Honestly I don’t really know the history between them as to why…… but Dean does have a lot of outward respect for Eric as a musician. It makes me wonder if Dean was ever on the early Badlands list of potential drummers???? Hell I don’t know. Just asking.

Eric is genuinely a phenomenal drummer who has playing skills and abilities that have never been appropriate for the gigs he's gotten.

Don't forget, he grew up playing big band Jazz kind of stuff. That's a completely different skillset than playing Rock or Metal. From all I've read, he's really good at it. There's a reason why he kept getting hired by top talent. Starting with Lita Ford, moving to Black Sabbath, forming a new band with Badlands, on to Alice Cooper, KISS, Brian May - he's never been out of work, and after Lita Ford he's never had to take a gig with anyone of less than legendary status.

Can’t you read?

Unfortunately, Randy’s not going to be there, ’cause he’s got back surgery,” Cain reports. “Marco Mendoza, a good friend of ours [who] plays great, he’ll fill in for now.”

And Deen is 100% there because he can sing and Arnel is rapidly losing his voice. But he’s had drug problems so they don’t want to bring him in just in case. Ergo keep the other drummer. It’s absurd having two drummers.

Journey played an "after show" concert (actually before the Lolla show) at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago for 2500 people. The same Aragon KISS played at in 1974 of which there are numerous photos from that show.

Journey was great a Lollapalooza. E

Even better at Aragon.

You wonder about band finances when they are now paying for 2 drummers.
