Is There A Cliché Gene Didn't Use?

Post by Bruce »

This thread promises to be one hell of a challenge:

Can you name a cliché not used in a $immons song? Maybe some he should have, even? For example ...

How about "selling like hotcakes"?

I hate that one because I don't even know if hotcakes are the same as pancakes..?

It's "hot cakes," as in cakes that are hot just out the oven. Obviously people want to get 'em while they're hot, hence the saying.

Some good ones being posted, here -- although, I am beginning to suspect that Gene trademarked and copyrighted every cliché in existance, long ago. We probably owe him a buck and a quarter already ...

Alternately, "One Day at a Time".

All I know is when he was writing his material for Animalize, he must have been consulting his Big Book of Clichés.

And now that you mention it...who uses more cliches, Gene or Steven Tyler?!

Gene likes to take cliches and give them a twist of sexual suggestion. Here's an example I thought up:

Cliche: "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen".

Gene's version "If you can't stand the heat, then why are your clothes still on?"

Just put "now listen" in front and "oh yeah" at the end and it sounds like Gene.
You can do that with any cliché it seems ... fun for the whole family :-)
