Top 3 songs off “MTV Unplugged “

Post by Tail of a hurricane »

Loving this album of late, and my top 3 songs I consider better than the original studio tracks.

Mine are-
Everytime I look at you
Sure know something
Comin’ home

I wish Kiss would give Bruce just another runaround before they hang it up in a intimate setting atleast. He played tremendous on this album, and totally nailed the solos.

Not to get sides tracked but Kiss: MTV Unplugged is one of my favorite Kiss albums. There was a discussion recently about potential albums that could be double albums and MTV unplugged would be #1 in my book.

Such stellar performances were left off the album.

Got To Choose (Japan release/DVD release?)
Spit
C’mon and Love Me
Heaven’s On Fire
Hard Luck Woman
God of Thunder (country version)

This is the album I would love to see released as a expanded special edition.

Tough to pick just three. This could be different tomorrow.

Goin’ Blind
Domino

Just an absolutely superb album in my eyes. I thought, along with Revenge, it was the best release they'd had since COTN.

Some of the "deep cuts" that they played acoustically in '95 sounded better than the originals.

Comin Home
Goin Blind

maybe Sure Know Something and possibly a couple others. Shandi.

Plus the band got real tight that summer, so by the time they did MTV Unplugged they were a very well oiled machine

That was easy for me.... Coming Home, Sure Know Something, A World Without Heroes. Plaster Caster gets an honorable mention!

Coming Home just because of the bombast of opening the show. SKS I thought was brilliantly done and Paul's vox shine here. AWWH I thought was a Gene highlight and actually got me listening to/appreciating The Elder a lot more.

Songs that were actually on the album? (non bonus)...

Comin' Home (such a magical transformation of a song... and perfect opener)
See You Tonite (so spot on... and exciting that this one made such a mark)
Plaster Caster (surprising fun... on paper it shouldn't have worked, but does)

The songs the Revenge lineup played were light years ahead of the songs the original four played because Bruce and Eric Singer are light years ahead of A&P (my two favorite original members).

Coming Home - So great to hear this live!
Sure Know Something - The outro is amazing!
I Still Love You - Might be Paul’s greatest live vocal performance ever!

I also would love to see an expanded deluxe album for Unplugged.

Agree with “I still love you”. His voice was brilliant, and he could hold that note perfectly.

Gotta give a shout out to Ken Barr, who was Eric Singer’s long-time drum tech for his involvement in this show and the whole Konvention tour. For the MTV show Ken actually ran Gene’s bass rig too. Flawless work, Kenny.
