Love them both. Actually, they both take up the most space in my CD/vinyl collections.

The (somewhat obscure) song Arms of Orion, Prince's duet with Sheena Easton is a favorite of mine.

Been listening on Spotify. It's his best release since Lovesexy. Proper melodic stuff.

Who the hell doesn't like Prince? Although I don't like much of anything he did after the Love Symbol album

I love these massive super deluxe vinyl box sets they're putting out. The last one for Sign O The Times had like 3 more albums worth of material on it

EXTREME massive fan and have been for years. While Kiss inspired me to pick up a guitar, Prince inspired me to become a musician. I have tons of Kiss bootlegs but my Prince bootleg collection is simply insane. Prince is also the only artist I have a tattoo of.

I pre-ordered the Deluxe of "Welcome 2 America" months ago and can't wait for it to arrive!!

I don't know about love, but you can't argue he had an amazing run between 1999 and Sign o' The Times.
Perhaps you could include Lovesexy there. Talk about a purple patch (pun intended).

KISS did do part of the pre-super bowl highlight events plus the 2002 Winter Olympic festivities.
PRINCE did the actual Super Bowl Half-time show which is what I wanted KISS to do.

I'm not a Prince fan.

I respect him as a player and songwriter, and I admire him for his talent, but 95% of his songs did nothing for me at all. His vocals tended to annoy me, really.

Having said that, his solo on While My Guitar Gently Weeps at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony is one of the all time great moments in Rock history.

I had a chance to see him the year he passed, piano and mic tour.... but doofus here says, nah I'll catch him next time  It was a mid-week show and was a bit awkward to get to. I'd logged onto the ticket site and could have scored front row balcony in a small theater. :x

he was in a midst of resurgence when he passed. released art official age and plectrumelectrum simulteneaously which i felt was a return to form for him. affirmation off art official sounds melancholic moreso now after he passed.

The Revolution did some decent gigs a few years back. Wendy & Lisa's albums are nothing to sneeze at either, while not on the level of Prince himself.

Always liked the singles, but I never took a deep dive into his catalogue until I got dragged along to see him at a stadium gig he played here in 1992.

It would be odd for anyone who likes music to not like some of Prince's output, mainly because he excelled in so many different genres. That said, I wouldn't say I 'love' Prince for the same reason - there's a lot of his stuff I don't particularly like. But when his stuff chimes with what I'm into, it's generally amazing.

I'd also argue several of his albums feature some of the best production of all time.

Met current girlfriend / partner / BFF on a college course (31 years ago!), we got discussing movies then music, I mentioned Kiss (as you do) she mentioned Prince, I said the Purple Rain movie & album rule, turned out we both had the free accomanying poster on our walls and the rest is, well, Kisstory. A lot of Prince's stuff is, different, but of quality producation and the guy sang most of the vocals and played most of the instruments himself. A seriously cool, talented, underated & missed artist for sure....

No a huge fan, but I certainly respect his musical abilities. He was certainly a very talented musician. Like many, he fought his demons but he did record a tremendous amount of music. There is a ton of unreleased material that will allow more releases into the future.

I wasn’t a fan. I didn’t get it, and I didn’t rate him. As far as I was concerned The Time kicked his ass in ‘Purple Rain’ which was a mediocre movie.

Being a gentleman, I bought tickets for my gf and I to see him on the Parade tour at Wembley Arena. I figured I’d just hold her coat while she ran down to the front of the stage to scream at her favourite artist.

I am not religious in any way, but seeing Prince live that night was like being touched by the hand of God. His performance was unbelievable, as was his band. He invited Sting and Ronnie Wood to join him onstage to play ‘Miss You’ by the Stones, and they were completely out of their depth. I was utterly blown away, and I became a fan instantly.

I can’t stress this enough: it’s not that I thought Prince was okay and I liked the odd song, I actively disliked both him and his music. That he was able to utterly change my opinion with a single performance is testament to the man’s genius. He was absolutely incredible.

A true artist and an inspiration.

LOVE Prince!!

My favorite eras are Controversy all through to Parade. Especially the unreleased stuff (Bob George stuff, the real, still shelved Crystal Ball album)
Just picked up a vinyl boot from one of his 1988 post show gigs.

I always wondered whether there were any connections between Prince and KISS' production design/crews, at some point. Or, at the very least, if the KISS road production was any influence on Prince's.

Alan Leeds who was Prince's road manager in the 80's, did the same for KISS as their during the Creatures tour.

He actually left the KISS tour early to go work for Prince.
Leeds said that Gene was cool with it, because he knew that Prince was on his way up.

This is me.

Everybody of a certain vintage could not have escaped Prince in the mid-80s. He was everywhere. Including, at one point, the front cover of Kerrang!

Kerrang!! I was appalled!! That ain't rock music.

At some point a few years later, some channel here in the UK aired his LoveSexy show he later released in VHS. Fuck me, it was incredible. Insanely great. I loved it. Shortly after, I was strolling around HMV in Cardiff and 'Thunder' was blaring out over the in-house PA. I bought his new CD 'Diamonds and Pearls' on the spot, and I was absolutely hooked and went on a bender to go and get as much of his back catalogue that I could find.

Then I saw him in Wembley Stadium in 1992, then Birmingham in 1995/6 (?) and saw one of his monumental performances at the o2 in London in 2007.

I have to say, that 2007 show was simply the most magnificent live performances I'd ever seen anybody play. Nothing since has come close. I think you also mentioned a religious experience, well, it was definitely like watching rock divinity. He was on his 'symbol' stage as well which made it all the more iconic as we were in really high-up seats, but a great view of the stage.

Just incredible.

He played the 20,000 seater o2 TWENTY-ONE times throughout August and September 2007.

21 times!

All sold out.

I loved all his 90s output, massively, but I'll admit to dropping out (as I did most music) in the 2010s, and didn't get the last couple of albums before his death.

His death hit me for six. A genuine genius with so much more left to give.

My favourite bootleg is the Sendai soundboard from the LoveSexy Tour.

That was a really good read. Scarily similar experience to mine. That Kerrang! cover was an abomination. I very nearly didn’t buy that issue.

I like Prince and respect the heck out of his mega-talent, but frankly outside of some of his very biggest hits, I really can't listen to his music. The new album especially really sounds like patchwork (not his fault of course). Live tho forget it, he was mesmerizing.

I remember the NY Daily News had a 'Prince special supplement' in one of their Sunday papers when "Purple Rain" was all the rage, and the cover was very similar to the Paul Stanley unmasked pic where Paul is laying on his stomach with a lot of roses around.
