Maybe it was infected? That is just a guess on my part.

Nah. Think he's stopped doing it, but he used to drink some sort of kool-aid (the literal kind, not the figurative kind... well, hold that thought on the figurative kind) type of drink to get it that color when appearing in makeup.

Makes sense since it seems to appear that way quite a bit. Always struck me as strange and unnatural.

Any sign of the originals in "good spirits" post-'98 or so always strikes me as a numbness to the misery of continuing to work together. Like when you hit your thumb with a hammer, sometimes the pain is so overwhelming, you just have to start laughing. It doesn't strike me as genuine happiness.

I don't think Paul in particular was too thrilled to have Peter back.

It’s a trick he borrowed from Spiro — to make his tongue more appealing, I suppose.

Peter seems to be having a good time, which I enjoyed. His "nightmare" comment was interesting too. Gene was having fun. Paul seemed more awkward and he did not regard Peter at all.

You’re thinking of a different interview. This one was October 2002, when just Gene, Paul & Peter came over to announce the Symphony show. At that point they were still hopeful (at least publicly) that Ace was going to be there for the event 4 months later. The one in February 2003 featured Gene, Paul, Peter & Tommy. That was a night or so before the show.

Paul may not have wanted Pete to get any wrong ideas about this gig!

Maybe he didn't recognize Peter with his ridiculous makeup redesign.

Paul’s spin is always amusing, making it sound like KISS is in demand the world over. “The Melbourne Symphony asked us to come back … When MTV approached us about doing Unplugged …”

That's just how KISS rolls. From the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and MTV to Car Wash Guy... all you got to do is ask. "We hear and we obey."
