Songs Peter Criss could have covered nicely

Post by ACESTATION »

I think Bonnie Tyler's old song "It's a Heartache" could have been on his 1993 CD. It would have described his life around that time and previous few years. Bonnie's voice and Peter's were similar despite male and female difference. He would have just changed the lyrics where it mentions "he" and change it to "her." Any other cover songs come to mind ?

I think Get Back would be good for him. Stay with Me and maybe Hot Legs too.

Always thought Pete would sound great on the Cocker arrangement of "Feelin' Alright."
(and more in line with his '78 solo album "Sometimes When We Touch" by Dan Hill)

An ideal song choice for Peter would involve him neither opening his mouth nor attempting to play drums.

I'd just love if Peter would start a Karaoke Youtube channel & take requests singing 'anything' (even songs fans specially wrote for him to sing).

Peter doesn't 'have' to play the drums for me to be happy, just sing. 🎤

Maybe don't go into Peter Criss threads if the content in them is going to ruin your day or existence otherwise...

He could have covered Bob Seger's song Katmandu and used the words Cat man Du. His voice would have worked for it.

Some great ideas in this thread, I love em all!

Ah man, I really am a huge Peter fan, I wish this coulda happened. Alas, not much chance now. I’m happy that Peter is happy, and it appears far more more settled and content than his former bandmates are. God bless ya, Catman!

Peter could start digging through a couple of Frankie Miller-albums. He'd likely deliver a good job on songs such as Zap Zap, When I'm Away... and a couple of more.

And why not Small Faces' 'Tin Soldier'? .....maybe re-arrange it though and take the song out of the 60s...

Something a little different - I don’t really know C&W music too well; but I could see him nailing some classic country music hits. Kenny Rogers comes to mind and I’m sure there’s a plethora of other good fits within that genre.

Peter could have totally parlayed his soft rock cred with this classic.
Nothing he couldn't vocally handle here. In fact, he'd out do it with his signature rasp.

"Out of Control" certainly began to point in this direction, anyway. Again, with the right producers, I honestly believe the transition would have been smooth.

This one is probably gonna get crap and deservedly so, but Poison's Look What the Cat Dragged In...

Look, I know that sounds ridiculous and campy, but several years ago a friend and I were in a band and we'd goof off (as people do) and one of our little jokes were to play songs in a KISS style since we both were huge fans. We did that one thinking it would be hilarious to sing it in a Peter Criss style and it actually sounded good. So yeah, it ridiculous, but after that I believe it would have sounded great, all joking aside

That Billy Field song would have been perfect not only for Peter's singing style but the song content about bad habits. Peter had said in a well known TV interview that he envisioned himself around 1980 as a Vegas type lounge singer, like Sinatra and others, ha. Peter was asked if he had more songs like Beth in him and he replied with a smile, "I've got a million."
Anyone else remember that video clip ?

That's an awesome version! I like it a lot, never heard it before. Only knew the Crow version and thought it was an okay song. But suddenly it hits, is the rest of her work worth checking out? Really love the vibe of this song.
