I'm going to use that line on the next client who asks for an ETA on a job and see how many minutes after I stay in business.

Wouldn't it be beneficial to contact Gene, Paul or Doc McGee on this issue as well. Tell them the situation if they don't already know about it. Tell them that Ross is dragging KISS' good name through the dirt with this scam of a book. What would be the worst that could happen?? A Phil Donohue episode with Ross and all his agitators/ victims ala "The famous Peter Criss imposter" episode??

It's all so absurd - especially when you read his responses- but he has a TON of people on there "thanking" him for his hard work-

His latest response tops it all.
He can't predict the future.
No one can, Ros.
BUT, when you have a structured plan, with a set deadline to finish product and a hard date for release, it isn't predicting the future. It is being honest and transparent. Two things you haven't been, M. Fraudley!

Re: MAGIC in Mid-August?
I thought that up until the end of last year. I bought in when he was raising the money, and was lucky enough to get a refund last August or so. But based on what I'm seeing and hearing, I've changed my opinion about his forthrightness and honesty. For example, there's no reason he can't give a detailed update on how many pages are completed, how many are left, when and where it's being printed, when the galley copies were received and approved, etc. And the Phantom book? He said it was already done a long time ago, but we haven't seen a single piece of evidence that's true. The fact that he's so arrogant now is the biggest turn off. Bottom line is he received over a quarter of a million dollars, and he SHOULD be accountable for it.Forevertj wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 7:58 pmLordThurisaz wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 4:43 pm Lol. Wow.....I must admit, I defended Ros even as recently as early last year. I had spoke with him a few times in the past and felt he was honest, maybe just a little bit in over his head. But, I always believed his heart was in the right place. Seeing more and more responses like this from him makes me think I was wrong about him. Sad. Very sad.

Re: MAGIC in Mid-August?
Someone correct if this is wrong, but I believe Ros said that he was refusing refunds because that would mean he had to tap into the money he set aside for printing. Of course, his refusal to grant refunds now is hogwash, because when you buy something, it's a contract so to speak, and unless something specifically states that the seller has the right to refuse a refund, you are supposed to get your refund.Forevertj wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 7:58 pmLordThurisaz wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 4:43 pm Lol. Imagine not even being able to inspire the confidence that you're trustworthy or capable enough to send a poster of Kiss in the mail.redinthesky wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 12:41 pm
I started to really laugh at how you described how this would all come about and shipped, as it reminded me of the moment in Chris Lendt's "Kiss and Sell" book when he realized that the extremely ambitious "Kiss World" was never going to happen, and he just started cracking up while searching for locations outside of arenas. I'm still not gonna say 100 percent, but I am 95 percent sure this Magic book, Phantom book, and the extras are all never going to happen.
If August was even remotely possible, everything would pretty much have to finished by now right? And Ros would be bragging about that to no end.
I honestly don't know how Ros can face himself in the mirror. This entire situation is so pathetic that the shame of it would be enough for me to return everyone's money by hand with a grovelling apology. Ros' arrogance and coldness towards his customers is beyond me.

Re: MAGIC in Mid-August?
It’s the same reason why lottery winners almost always blow all their money within a few years and end up at the same station on life that they were at when they won.
Look, you can tell just by looking at the guy and how he carries himself and how he communicates that he’s not a high flyer.
He runs a kids music school. From his house I believe. No wife. You can look up his address on googleearth.
His bank account suddenly went from whatever it was to $250,000 more. Within a few weeks.
Then he discovers a few must have photos and makes more deals. And more deals. Then he runs into problems, needs money.
Makes a bunch more deluxe editions available, sells those out in a week, instant cash injection. Hey, this is easy.
Same time he goes from a total nobody to a well known author, he’s on podcasts, thousands of comments on his social media, you’re a star Ros, can’t wait for the book, onwards and upwards man.
Starts thinking Gene and Paul should give him some attention. Why not. He’s Ros. He’s got $250,000.
You wanted the best, you got the best.
Ros is the archivist. He’s gonna be inner sanctum soon. Hell, they’ll probably hire him full time to do all the archives. Onwards and upwards.
Bills come in, hey he’s the man just use some of this book money, he can always sell some more deluxe editions.
Gene and Paul pay well anyway.
Covid hits. Probably loses all his students.
Car shits itself.
His designer walks away. His designer comes back. His designer walks away again.
Gets called out by the FAQpack.
Delay after delay. But most people still say it’s all good dude, onwards and upwards.
Has any of it been written?
Yeah definitely. In his head.
Just a matter of laying it out.
Onwards and upwards man.
This will be the book I never saw.

From now on I am going to use the true and level-headed response of "I can't predict the future" when asked to provide a product or service that someone has paid me to fork over. "You were promised that pizza for what date?....well, I can't predict the future, a meteor could fall on me."

This is another milestone where he lost all credibility.
Know what I did when I was unemployed for three months in late 2017? I started and finished layout and printing a 540 page three volume set of books on KISS LP's. He had nothing but time to write and layout the book at the point that COVID hit. And remember, he is in Texas, which If I recall correctly was not shut down at any point during COVID.

That would be true, if he wasn’t paying the designer in piecemeal scraps to do each two page layout if and when he managed to make ends meet that week.

Especially the point on the little bit of “notoriety” he originally achieved in the KISS world. I hadn’t really considered that. Interviewed many times; he’s on podcasts with 1000’s of views. Social media pages, etc. Videos of him displaying his savant like skills naming dates and places of KISS photos, (an important life skill ) while a group of his hoarder lackeys look on in absolute awe.. I guess all of that felt good. Real good.
And the total delusion part is true too. In his warped mind thinking he can get Gene and Paul for an afternoon each and get their thoughts and contributions on ALL the photos for his book.. Then of course have access to Gene and Paul's personal archive rooms to waltz on in and help himself to whatever he needs?! He's lost the plot..
There’s a few FAQers still asking for page counts? Video updates? Status updates? There’s none. There’s nothing of anything. Besides the 30 or 40 incomplete and very mediocre “sample pages”; there’s nothing more! Zilch. Don’t think we'll see any more “updates”.
A few FAQers still saying just refund all the money?! Concede that it won’t happen; wrap it up and just refund everyone!!. Re the money. There’s none. Gone.. He might still have the “book printing money” that he’s safely squirreled away for a rainy day. The rest. Up in a puff of smoke. Vanished.
That last message; he’s just totally taking the piss now. Hopefully some real legal accountability enters the story now.. Because for the “author” its just a waiting game. Can I milk another year? Maybe even two? By playing this false BS update game every 3 months?! No skin off my nose to do this - he'd think..
He's a lying thieving scoundrel..

Re: MAGIC in Mid-August?
Does anyone think that the fact that 3 Sides doubted his book and pulled their support years ago caused many to fund this book? Meaning, some folks really don’t like Brandvold or it appears that way here. Did Ros use this animosity to his advantage? I just wonder sometimes how he got the support based on those podcasts and YouTube videos . I participated in the original Magic Kickstarter. Years later he came on Kissfaq talking about doing this through PayPal. I remember being disappointed cause I figured he was coming back to say the book is ready back in 2018. But, he didn’t. I didn’t contribute again. I met him once and it was beyond obvious he was a prick. I just still can’t believe he raised that much money.

Re: MAGIC in Mid-August?
3 Sides definitely called it when they said this book wasn't coming out.
The Ros followers (and a few here that despise 3SOTC) rooted for Ros and said 3S would be eating crow
once that book was finished. Of course, that was a few years (and big funding dollars) ago.
As I said before, his cocky attitude and lack of transparency made me not want to send him one red cent.
