Paul Stanley on Art:

"You don't need a degree to know what good art is. Good art is what you love. When you go into a restaurant, you don't have to have someone tell you what bad food is. When you spit it out, guess what? It's bad,"

Before Led Zeppelin there was Solomon Burke, before Solomon Burke there was Michalangelo... Paul is just a renaissance man who spans the entirety of history. I wonder how he feels about the Dinosaurs? The artistic merits of T-rex or Triceratops?

Its an odd post, for sure. Just how often does Stanley get to look at the Pietà? Does he own it, now? Is it in the den, by the pingpong table? Where is this even coming from? Has he recently been to the Vatican/is he visiting Italy? No matter. Yes, its a remarkable sculpture thats a couple centuries older than the founding of the USA. A nut back in the mid-late 20th century, a tourist, sneaked in a hammer and whacked the Pietà right in Mary's face. The repairs seem flawless, but what you see of it today isn't entirely Michaelangelo's handiwork.

Says the guy who paints daisies on a shaped piece of plastic and calls it "art."

Although he's right about Pieta being a stunning work of art.

Thought the thing he used to say back then was that 'there's two types of music, music you like and music you don't like'
Which I agree with - it 's a much less judgmental point of view than the good/bad-thing.

Michelangelo's Pietà is truly sublime, one of the best masterpieces ever.
At least this time Paul said something meaningful.

Yes, welcome to the FAQ. It's ironic that the common response to Paul's "endless bitching" is to endlessly bitch about him. "Remove log from own eye" comes to mind.

When did Paul start to talk about fine art and all these things?
He didn’t talk about these things in the 70s or 90s. Or did I miss that interview?

It doesn’t bother me in the slightest. But he seems like a completely different person from the guy I listened to years ago. He did attend art school, no? So, perhaps the interest has always been there.
Anyway, more power to him and all that. It’s his Twitter account and he can talk about anything he likes. Enjoy life, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Perhaps he’ll take up sculpting next, just like the Plaster Casters.

He was certainly into it. Chris Lendt wrote at length about Paul's apartments decor and his aspirations in the 70's. This isn't anything new for him.

Art's not really my thing but that really is a pretty astounding piece of art when you look at it. "Art" is a very overused word, but damn yeah, that's real art.

And If art is supposed to give you an emotional response, then I’ll consider the picture on the right art. I never laughed so hard as I did when I first saw that, years ago.
I bought a coffee cup with that image for a coworker, and she loved it.
I felt sorry for old woman who tried to restore it. The poor woman tried. Just unsuccessfully.
But it did garner plenty of media attention and brought tourists to that town.

Of course. And the man is 70. He wants to share his other interests with people. I was just curious as to when he talked about this on a regular basis. He didn’t talk about riding his bicycle in the 70s either. As I said, more power to him. Doesn’t bother me. He’s using his Twitter account to share these things with us.

Peter said in his book that Paul drew incredibly exquisite penis, so there’s that
