I thought it was generally accepted that Ace was in the band before the beginning of '73. However, when they officially became KISS is cloudy and depends on someone's own definition. If it's once Ace is hired, it's 1972 I suppose, but I don't use that yardstick. I get the impression that the name may have been thrown around before the first show, but the first show is what sealed those 4 guys officially becoming KISS for me. They had to decide on a name to book that first show, and KISS was chosen.

Maybe there needs to be a fluffy unicorn safe space section here where everything is all rainbows and only posts blowing puffy pastel colored smoke up the bands ass can exist. Maybe people would be a lot less bitchy.

All bands seem to use the date 'when they first played together' as the 'birth'-...to be fair, that's the truth. That's when then the band is formed...Some bands may never play a public gig...yet they are still a band. - prove me wrong. I'm a Phd, so I can argue with you endlessly, with a justified reasoning.
