While it's certainly possible to be both Italian and Jewish (trust me ),
I've never heard of Paul having an Italian background.
Perhaps you're just hungry for some lasagna soup?

I think their label mates The Village People might have them edged out (on the most multi cultured group).

Wikipedia's not a great resource for actual facts on ... anything. But its someplace to start, especially if you don't really give a shit. But Wikipedia is under the impression that Eric Singer is, in fact, Jewish. It states that ...
Singer was born Eric Doyle Mensinger in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in Euclid, Ohio. His father, Johnny Mensinger, was of Jewish German descent and was a local big band leader who played around the area as well as on cruise ships from the States to Europe and back.
So ... the entire Revenge lineup was Jewish.

A bunch of white guys the most multicultural band in history?
Perhaps no, but their backgrounds are a good illustration of how America was built, by immigrants.

So is the suggestion here that these sorts of backgrounds are somehow unusual amongst American bands?

Well when you've had 26 members its bound to happen. For a group of white dudes I'd say The Ramones may give them a run for most Jewish & Catholic members in a band from NYC.

Black Ace from the Phantom not mentioned yet?
Funny detail that we had 3 short drummers, who all gave up a part of their last name, Criscoula, Carravelo and Mensinger.

Depends on your definition of "multi"
If you think it means "three" then yes.

Re: KISS the most multi cultural band in history?
I imagine if you picked the first four guys you met in a bar in NYC to make up a band, chances are it would be a similar composition of ethnicities. Kiss aren't diverse - they're just a random sample of New Yorkers.
When it comes down to it we're all mongrels to an extent, which is why it's foolish to hang on to your race or ethnic origin in an exceptionalist way...even the WASPiest Anglo-Saxon is a mongrel dating back to when the Angles from Denmark started getting down and dirty with the Saxons from Germany.

Re: KISS the most multi cultural band in history?
When you look at their actual ethnicities, they provide a snapshot of the melting pot that America is:
Paul - German/Polish
Gene - Hungarian/Israeli
Ace - German/Dutch/Native American
Peter - Italian...the surname originates in Sardinia
Eric C - Italian...the surname originates in Sicily
Vinnie - Italian...the surname originates around Modena
Mark - Unsure, but the surname Norton would indicate English
Bruce - Russian
Eric S - German...the surname originates in Lower Saxony - his middle name of Doyle would suggest there's some Irish in there too!
Tommy- Southwest English/Scottish (probably Ayrshire)
Paul - German/Polish
Gene - Hungarian/Israeli
Ace - German/Dutch/Native American
Peter - Italian...the surname originates in Sardinia
Eric C - Italian...the surname originates in Sicily
Vinnie - Italian...the surname originates around Modena
Mark - Unsure, but the surname Norton would indicate English

I know, but still, they all have very similar cultures. Judeo-Christian backgrounds. If you had thrown in a Hindu and a Buddhist, I would have agreed.

Good summary...although I'd add Peter is half Irish (mother) and half Italian. But good stuff! Something the OP needs to look at. But I think they are just shit stirring.

That would be true in past decades, but New York is now way more multi cultural than what the guys in Kiss would represent. Especially in Queens, where Gene and Paul grew up. It's one of the most multicultural areas in the entire country.Glasgow Kiss wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 3:23 am Kiss aren't diverse - they're just a random sample of New Yorkers.

When Eric was the drummer for Brian May, he came and played in Adelaide, Australia. This was during the Reunion era. We were all outside the venue just chatting to Eric and someone asked what it was like being in KISS. He said...."I think I was the first German to be in a Jewish concentration camp".

If you want to trace the genetic heritage of any band you'll likely find exactly the same if not a far broader cultural/ethnic/racial lineage.
