Because of drugs.

Isn't it in one of the books about Ace where Frehley says to someone confidentially, that he didn't ask Peter to join his band because "he wasn't good enough"?

Interesting to hear Peter say that he has "no problems with Paul Stanley". Wasn't expecting that!

Yeah its in KISS and Tell!, Lydia told Peter that Ace had said he wasn’t good enough to be in his solo band.

It's probably a good thing that Peter didn't play in Ace's band.

Gene and Paul probably would have loved nothing more than to see two former members scrounging,
partnering up and trying to be successful in a new offspring band.

Peter never played drums on Aces album wondering maybe on Origins 3 ?

I was sort of surprised that there wasn't more of a push from outside sources to put a band together with Ace and Peter. Even from Megaforce. Ride the coattails of KISS sort of thing.

Paul and Gene didn’t want Ace to leave — for contractual reasons, at the very least — they tried to convince him to stay, supposedly even asked him to return — but i’ve often thought they eventually would’ve had to vote him out, too, if he hadn’t quit. And Gene often speaks as though they did fire him, so i kinda take that as another indicator of his thinking on it.

After a total absence in the studio for Creatures Of The Night, even if Ace had stayed on for the tour dates, i don’t know if that would have done anything to improve his attitude.

I look at it in hindsight as an inevitability. If Ace couldn’t deal with KISS, they eventually wouldn’t deal with him.

There was pushing from the inside, too, among Ace’s people. Ultimately, there was the “Bad Boys” tour. Peter didn’t join Ace’s band, but he came out to sing a few numbers.

I was thinking it was Gordon Gebert’s book where Ace told him Peter just wasn’t good at enough. He wouldn’t even consider it. After playing with Anton and Eric Carr, I could understand this back in the day. I always wanted them to be together musically, but Ace clearly did not at the time.

Peter in his prime is my favourite KISS drummer but by 1988 it wasn't a hard choice to go with Anton.
