Until the PA’s got hung entirely from the ceiling (most of the dates on the Dynaty tour) side views would always be blocked by the PA on the ground regardless oh whether there were decorated or not. That was just a thing in the 70’s that if you sat on the side, you didn’t see the drummer.

During what was technically the Rock N Roll over tour in winter 76/77 they got rid of the electricity/lighting towers and the road crew got really lazy with putting up the castle and moonscape tapestries/banners that covered the PA so it made it look cheap. If you look at the Destroyer stage on the opening night in all it’s glory, it looks pretty badass.

The "Destroyer" stage was absolutely fantastic (easily a Rock theater masterpiece of it's time) & if I could plug everyone that missed it into my memories/experience of it directly from my brain, I gladly would. I'd say so far, no videotape or film that I'm aware of does that one all that much or proper justice, but maybe someday something overall better shot will turn-up.

The "LOVE GUN/ALIVE II" stage is my favorite of all-time, but "Destroyer" definitely comes in at a close second.

It is photoshopped. The original photo is of Gene and a police officer backstage somewhere in Canada on the 1977 Can/Am tour.
