Great episode. WASP lost me through much of the 90's, and the only reason I bought Helldorado in 1999 is I read a Blackie Lawless interview at the time where he was touting this album as their return to form, etc. Julian, I'm glad you mentioned AC/DC, as I believe the entire album has an AC/DC feel musically except heavier. Helldorado is a very fun listen for me start to finish. I think I'll break it out and crank it up.

By the way, I have to disagree with the panel on Saturday Night Cockfight. Regardless of what the song is about, that thunderous riff that opens the song is worth the price of admission alone.

I listened to THE LAST COMMAND and HELLDARADO this past Wednesday. I really enjoyed this particular podcast on this hit or miss album. Still love “Dirty Balls” and the title track.

Usually my least favorite WASP album. Do like every song except the shit stains Don't Cry & Dirty, 2 songs that never should have been recorded. The album still sounds like crap .Drums and Bass turned down with guitars sounding like they were recorded with a cassette recorder. Blackie told everyone that this was a return to form. No it wasn't,had it been, the bass would have been up in the mix, like it was when Blackie played bass on the first 2 albums. That problem has been on WASP albums off and on every since Blackie moved to guitar, some albums have bass, some don't.

Hey, different strokes for different folks. I happen to really like the album. I tend to agree with you that the songs largely sound the same. It's like Blackie took the same three or four chords and somehow fashioned them into a bunch of different songs. It happens to work for me.

W.A.S.P. is a perfect example of a band that makes an excellent debut album, a good second album, an OK third album and total shite after that...
