The embarrassment is on Macy's for lying to them. Paul has every right to be pissed. Kiss deserves better than a U Haul.

But not G&P’s Kiss tribute. What they got was perfectly fitting. Maybe even a tad too grand...

 Ouch!

Well let's face it. After years of overpromising and underdelivering, it was nice to see G&P getting a dose of their own medicine! That pic is a visual representation of how we feel as fans sometimes when it comes to what we actually get vs what we would like to get from KISS.

That same thing could be said of many KISS fans these days.
A band reaps what it sows
Sadly, we can't make those bastards pay for their many betrayals and abuses, but at least we have the FAQ here to provide year-round group therapy sessions to vent with other victims of KISS.

Hopefully healing will come someday. The good news is that they can't live forever.

But the thumbs up is Ace's "signature" pose. Plus Ace looks cool doing it and isn't doing that awkward looking sideways thumb thing above his head. I'll give Thomas credit that he at least tries to make the thumb thing his own unlike almost everything else he copies from Ace. But I also understand he is a hired gun paid by Paul and Gene to essentially be Ace Frehley. Poor Tommy, my heart bleeds for him.

Correct. Half the time he points to whoever is standing next to him.

Ace seemingly can not pose for a photo without throwing some sort of finger gesture. Same for Singer with the V sign.

What if they had let Paul lead off this years pre-recorded opening on NBC lyp-singing instead of Jimmy Fallon ?

Paul never forgets or forgives but he doesn't seem too mad about what happened years ago in the Macy's Parade. It surely didn't damage any future concert/merchandise earnings that came in the next several years, ask Nibbler about that.

Wasn't the float for the Cadillac, Michigan 1975 parade just as good and probably better because of the student made artwork and colors ?

Exactly.

Macy's parade officials book acts months ahead of time, and contracts are scoured over. No act is going to agree to something like this unless all the details are printed out and gone over with a fine-tooth comb. Nothing is left to chance when you're promoting yourself or your band in front of millions of people in, of all things, a parade. The exposure can be great, but at the same time, it's a parade, so the logistics and details are created down to the smallest detail. If something goes wrong, it could be very bad for image. Just ask KISS.

Doc was probably begging and pleading to get them on the parade for years. Some organizer finally relented, but did so offering them C-class accommodations, and they jumped at the chance. The appearance was roundly criticized and ridiculed, so they made up a new narrative.

I’m guessing Gibson wanted the band to use Gibson instruments and KISS refused or wanted a payday for doing so and Gibson told them to go fuck themselves.

An alternative definition of staying at the party too long is when you stay somewhere and you're not enjoying it - but you stay anyway and just voice your displeasure about how you're not enjoying the party anymore. You might even say that those people who ARE still enjoying the party are foolish for doing so.

"The worst thing we did was we played the Macy's Day Parade," McGhee said. "We were supposed to be on the Gibson float, which was this huge float. So, it was great; it's just like Kiss. Well, the night before we found out that they wanted Paul to play Gibson [guitars], and he doesn't play Gibsons – because he plays Washburns. So, we couldn't go on the float. They go, 'Oh, we have another float for you.'"

Read More: Kiss' 'Horrible' Thanksgiving Parade: 'This is How You Get Fired' | https://ultimateclassicrock.com/kiss-th ... m=referral

------------

Why weren't they SMART ENOUGH to just agree to be on the GIBSON FLOAT and Paul not play ANY guitar. Let Tommy play the Gibson and be done with it.

They are Lip-Synching anyways.... it doesn't matter.

Would Paul think he could appear on a PEPSI float while drinking Coke?!?

At least he is laughing about it now.

BTW - there is little to no publicity value for being in this parade anymore anyway. Fortunately, we now have streaming and more than 3 channels + PBS. Most of the people who used to watch this parade on TV are either in urns or six feet under.

This was in 2014. I had to look it up to see what this was all about. Yes it looks very sad.

I wouldve been pissed too if I was promised one thing and got essentially nothing in return.

Sure.

But that's not what happened.

That simply is not true.

The Macy's Parade is one of the most-viewed events each year. It is a great way to publicize your act.

An alternative definition of staying at the party too long is when you stay somewhere and you're not enjoying it - but you stay anyway and just voice your displeasure about how you're not enjoying the party anymore. You might even say that those people who ARE still enjoying the party are foolish for doing so.
He seems to quite enjoy posting here on a public forum discussion board. You on the other hand seem to need a pallet of Kleenex.

Spoiler's comment is so ridiculous and childish.

This board celebrates, and critiques, the band in all its forms, from 1973-today.

What mature and rational person would demand that everyone who posts here accepts and heaps praises on the band for every year of its existence?

Some people here only love 70s KISS; some only love 80s KISS; some accept 70s and 80s KISS, but love what they did in the 90s. Some love this era, but not that era; dislike one era but love another; find one era interesting, one bad, and one excellent.

So. Fucking. What?

Notice people like him do not get bent out of shape over criticism of the band in other eras, only criticism of today. My guess is that's due to the fact they know that's what the band offers today is at times laughable, at times embarrassing, at times simply sad ...in other words, not the way any self-respecting band should spend their twilight years ...and it gets more and more difficult each passing day to support it all.

So, they lash out at the people who refuse to accept this version of the band we get today, whatever in the hell that is.

I think you just made a lot of apologists tear up and bite their pillows.

A total embarasment.

The embarrassment is on Macy's for lying to them. Paul has every right to be pissed. Kiss deserves better than a U Haul.
If that is the full story.

So, it was great; it's just like Kiss. Well, the night before we found out that they wanted Paul to play Gibson [guitars], and he doesn't play Gibsons – because he plays Washburns. So, we couldn't go on the float. They go, 'Oh, we have another float for you.'"

ONE THING FOR SURE

THIS WAS
NOT
LAST MINUTE
OR
THE NIGHT BEFORE

LOOK at the float KISS is ON
The floor/base/stations for EACH MEMBER
FEATURES THEIR “CIRCLE MAKEUP ICON”

You don’t come up with that
LAST MINUTE
or
NIGHT BEFORE

They KNEW what they would be riding on,
WELL IN ADVANCE.
